  1. If you go to MD after October 1st you will only be able to keep what you owned prior to October 1st and you will have to register them. If you go to MD before October 1st, you are fine and need to do nothing. The registration part of the bill was stricken if you are a resident and own a regulated weapon before then. Shell case testing only applies to brand new handguns. My advice would be buy as many AR lowers and AK receivers prior to October 1st as you can or else you wont be able to.
  2. If you own a firearm which is currently regulated in MD, which pretty much anything currently regulated will be banned after Oct 1, you need to register it within I believe 90 days if you intend to become a resident. Read this thread for more and better info. http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=114585 O'Malley and the AG are very anti gun. Just recently the AG ruled that the AR15 was an unusual weapon and not in common use so they could ban it.
  3. Good news for you...sort of http://www.cecildaily.com/news/local_news/article_c0ff2d10-b82e-11e2-b1d6-001a4bcf887a.html http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=118688
  4. Buy all that you can before October 1st after then a lot of guns will be banned. If you want to maintain your rights, move to PA or VA instead. Where in MD are you moving I'm in College Park. I forget the specifics on the handgun roster right now. www.mdshooters.com Edit: Look up SB281 for all the new regulations for Oct 1
  5. From what I understand, if you dont have an FID every gun you have is to be treated like a handgun for transportation.
  6. Just one of the better things about not being in NJ is that an 03 C&R is recognized.
  7. Its not a Nagant its a Mosin. Good video.
  8. I am technically an NJ resident going to school in MD. I plan on moving to VA or PA once I graduate. MD is becoming as bad as NJ.
  9. The cheap surplus ammo and relatively cheap good quality of the M39 drew me to it. My next purchase will be 1 or 2 handguns because I should have 3 P2P's coming. After that I am considering a Savage MKII FV.
  10. So I decided what I wanted and have a nice-looking antique M39 waiting for me in MD. When my FID comes in I plan on buying - Marlin XT-22 - SKS - 1911 or surplus handgun
  11. Notice the wording in the article. Its not an Ar-15 its a .223 rifle and a 10mm handgun. Looks like they are now trying to go after certain calibers.
  12. 1. Application type: Initial FID + 3 P2Ps 2. Police Department where you applied: Mahwah 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD: Officer behind the glass, Storms 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit: N/A, Fingerprinted on 4/12 and submitted paperwork on 4/12. References got forms on 4/23 Got FID and permits 6/7 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form): 2 applications 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.): Officer Storms was very friendly and seemed pretty knowledgeable on the subject. Mahwah wants you to get fingerprinted first and hand everything in at once.
  13. I've been thinking about picking one up online specifically a nice Finnish m39.
  14. Ok thanks. Any recommendations in in Bergen County?
  15. If I find the rifle I want before my FID comes in, how long will an FFL hold the rifle for me if at all? I am looking to get a Mosin and will be starting the process for the FID tomorrow or Saturday. So what happens if I find exactly what I want before it comes in? Thanks
  16. Do you live in or near Wyckoff or Mahwah? There is a clone to your car in Wyckoff all the time.
  17. A 2.5rs with an STI swap would be my ideal Subaru, or a turbo 6-speed SVX. One thing great about the Miata besides how cheap they are is how easy they are to work on. Did a timing belt and water pump in about 3 hours while reading how to do it.
  18. Nice gotta love the N54. What have you done to it. I have a friend that has a 335xi with downpipes, intercooler, tune, and meth. The car is insane. Also the 944 is like a Miata with torque that you can actually put stuff in.

  20. There is a hunting store in Hamlin behind Schaffer's hardware and one by the IGA and CVS near the dam where 590 meets 6 and another by the school bus repair place by Crane Rd and 590.
  21. Also there is a state run range nearby. I have never been to it though.
  22. My family has a house between Hawley and Hamlin near Lake Wallenpaupack. The community is called WLE and you can drive golf carts on the roads. Lunker - I was in a car crash on ledgedale road a couple years ago.
  23. Wow that is a very nice looking rifle. What I have decided to do, for now at least, is to shoot the club's Savage mkii .22 and buy an antique Finnish M39 Mosin in Maryland. The Mosin will live with me in MD and wont go into NJ until I have an FID.
  24. Thanks that does make sense. But as of now the cheap surplus ammo and the low price of the rifle for the Mosin is very appealing. I will be shooting a 10/22 a decent amount for a couple months before getting anything. The person who's Ar15 I shot also has an AK47 that he should be bringing out this weekend or next. I am assuming the AK and SKS has a similar amount of recoil and feel. Also my parents are Antis so anything that looks scary is off the table for now until I can change them. I do plan on shooting as much as a can through as many people's rifles as possible to get a feel for what I like and dont like.
