  1. I don't know... Sure, if you make a "lower" or other item that is actually classified as a "firearm", then yes, in NJ you're in deep doggy doo-doo. However, if you made a part, accessory, or other "gun" related item that isn't legally a firearm, then I think you're fine. Of course there will be people who are very upset. But...... It's a public library. If they are legally required to provide access to porn, on library owned computers; which they are, then I would think that the same first amendment principles would apply to access/use of this device o creative expression. Either they make it freely available to everyone to use for ANY legal purpose/item, or they can't have it all.
  2. Here's a link to a search for some electric fan setups. I would narrow the search, on the left side of the page, to those 4,000cfm and up, given the size of your engine. http://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/fans-electric?SortBy=Default&SortOrder=Ascending&keyword=electric%20fan
  3. Here's a link for used fan assembly. http://www.ebay.com/itm/04-05-Ram-1500-SRT-10-SRT10-Viper-Truck-8-3L-OEM-Engine-Cooling-Fan-Motor-/251350870861?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a85adeb4d&vxp=mtr Is the sensor that is sticking up, vertically, from the hydraulic motor, what you are looking for? As a side not, why not just ditch that weird setup, and switch to an electric fan? It would probably give you a small gain in HP and MPG, due to reduced parasitic drag. in other words, it takes less HP to uses the alternator to produce a little more charge to run an e-fan, then it does turn a fan mechanically, or by hydraulic pressure in this case. You could get yourself a nice new setup for far less then what the dealer would want to repair your current fan, assuming that you have even guessed the caused correctly. Looking at the pic in the ebay listing, you MIGHT even be able to adapt an electric motor to your existing shroud/blade, by just removing the hydr. motor. This would be cheaper and look "factory", but would take some creativity. Or just by a new Flex-A-Lite system with temp switch and all...... On my Ranger, I used a spare mechanical fan shroud to start, then trimmed and fiberglassed in a Volvo V70 e-fan, and run it with a cheap Autozone temp switch. I can feel the increased power, and I have gained about 2 mpg on average.
  4. Well, I have never had any problem with a court/PD verifying who actually wrote me a ticket, before. Further, I'm thinking it would be unlawful for them to refuse, or pretend to not know the identity of the issuer, when I specifically request that information; particularly since in this case, knowingly "hiding" the other guys identity is obstructing justice, since not knowing who he is prevents me from filing charges. Not that that doesn't 100% mean its not whats happening, but I didn't get the feeling that the Sgt. I spoke with had any issue with me or was hiding anything. I can "smell" a "holier-then-thou", "why is a mere civilian peon wasting my time" attitude a mile away, and this guy didn't give me that at all. I have nothing bad at all to say about him. If he says he doesn't know, I believed him. I absolutely felt like he really was trying to help. He did say that somebody, in the dept. had to have seen some id or something from the "issuer", to give him the ticket book. The Sgt. just didn't know who at the time. I'm sure if I went back during the day, and followed up, I probably could figure it out; but it doesn't really matter now. Too late to file the charges against him, and knowing who he is doesn't really do me any good for right now. Of course, it's possible that he used a fake badge????? Its not entirely unheard of to impersonate LE. Granted, it takes some serious balls to walk in to a PD, claiming to be some out-of-town cop, in order to write summonses. But, perhaps he just "flashed" a badge, sounded like he "belonged", and they didn't dig any deeper???? Who knows. As I said, there doesn't appear to be anything else I can do until I go to court, so I'm trying not to get too worked up about in the meantime. I guess, worst case scenario, I do end having to "disappear" and never set foot in NJ again. I can't imagine they'll look too hard, for unpaid traffic fines???
  5. Correct. I have a bagde# that the the Sgt. says is definitely not one of theirs. As is usual on a summons, the "signature" is completely unreadable, and isn't even entirely consistent from one ticket to the other. Of course, there is no indication of the "signer"'s dept. of employment. The Sgt I spoke with, in the town where it occurred, and who's ticket book was used to write them, was unable to locate any further information, as of Sunday night. He claims to have even called the other Sgt's who were on duty the day of the incident, as well as the day the tickets were "issued". Neither had any recollection of the identity of the "signer", nor is there any incident report. Either way, its past 30 days, and from what I'm told, there is no exceptions to that limit. Supposedly, not even a judge would have discretion to allow me to file charges now, after the 30 days. I was told it was unlikely the municipal court would even let me file them, let alone get it in front of judge. I'm kinda hoping maybe this guy is just trying to cost me time and money, simply by dealing with the tickets, and maybe doesn't even intend to show up? Wishful thinking?
  6. What a cool dog. He looks like a cross between a skinny tiger, and a wise old man.
  7. Well here's a thought on a "novel" work around, if one needs to move hp ammo from one residence to the other. You are, apparently, not able to legally transport hp ammo from your "old" residence to your "new" residence, because it is not one of the listed exemptions. On the other hand, "from place of purchase, directly to residence" is legal, right? Are there any laws prohibiting a private citizen from selling there unwanted hp ammo, to another citizen? If not, simply have someone, who has a residence near your "new" home, come to your "old" home and "buy" your hp ammo for $1. They can legally transport to their residence. You then go there, and "buy" it back, for the same dollar (or maybe $1+ their gas costs for transporting), allowing you to transport it directly to your "new" home. Its silly, but it seems like it would all fall within the letter of the law. Thoughts?
  8. Why "buy" a dog? Unless you really need "pedigree" for show purposes, there should be no reason to pay for a dog (or cat). It kind of bothers me when pets are treated like possessions and property, instead of living creatures/family members. I'm sure many of you, who have bought the dogs in your life, do care about them and treat them well. Its just the idea of buying and selling them seems wrongs. I know a lot of people consider "pets" pretty much interchangeable, but they really do all have their own unique personality, such that they are really more 4 legged furry people. Why not go to the local animal shelter and save an innocent life from a lethal injection? Especially with the economy the way it is and has been, there are so many animals that have been turned in or abandoned. You may not get exactly what you want, in terms of breed/appearance, but this isn't a new couch or wall paper. I'm sure you'll find a sweet, loving animal. Besides, I thought that mixed breeds tended to be healthier anyway; generally speaking.
  9. Finally, a "knee jerk" reaction/response to a shooting "incident" that actually does call for "common sense gun laws"!!
  10. Yeah, I guess that's the plan. He marked all (6) tickets as "Court Appearance Required", so I have to go. Seems kinda stupid to have to drive an hour just to stand there for 20 seconds and say "not guilty", but whatever. One of the charges is "Reckless Driving" 39:4-96, and I BELIEVE that qualifies for a public defender (I know I will qualify financially, at least I should in anything remotely resembling a "fair" system.......) Does anybody know if that belief is correct? There is just no way I can afford a lawyer, so a public defender is the only chance I've got. Once we get that part out of the way, I'll request discovery, and at least get to see what kind of "evidence" they have. As I said, I don't think I would be too worried about him having any kind of video recording, as it would not look good for him. At the very least, it would severely hurt his credibility as a witness. Also, given that he is, apparently, unknown within that town, maybe I will get somewhat more of a fair hearing from the judge? Maybe?
  11. Umm, remember, we are in the PRNJ, not America. If we were, the above probably would be an acceptable reason. Well, that's the lesson HE should be learning. One day, just one day earlier, and he would have learned that lesson MIGHTILY! Unfortunately, his legal trickery and abuse of power will insulate him from that.
  12. Well, this just got "weirder"..... I spent all day today writing a detailed written account, researching applicable traffic statutes, and seeing what fit each of his actions. I came up with a list of 36 separate traffic violations. I made a nice neat collated list, and drove an hour to the PD of the town it occurred in, tonight. I spoke to a Sgt, thinking I was going to be signing complaints against "one of their own" and therefor not wanting to speak with anyone other then a supervisor. The guy was very nice, and tried to help as much as he could. Unfortunately: A.) Nobody even knows who the guy that sent these too me even is! The Sgt. was absolutely sure it wasn't one of the local cops. He even made phone calls to several other Sgt's who might have been on duty when the incident occurred, or when the tickets were signed. Nothing. Nobody knows. In a way, I'm glad it wasn't one of them. At least I don't have to worry about being at war with the locals. B.) Even if we did know who he was, I'm screwed, as far as signing any "counter" complaints. Today was 30 days. The Sgt. said that they (the PD) can't take traffic complaints from private citizens; that I have to go to the municipal court, which obviously is closed on Sunday night. Even if I go tomorrow morning, it will be past 30 days. The Sgt. even acknowledge that the "mystery" cop most likely did in fact choose his timing intentionally, so as to prevent me from responding. This whole thing just reeks of impropriety! A "mystery" unknown cop comes into a PD, uses one of their "ticket books", and issues tickets, and no one even knows who he is? How can that be allowed to happened? Where is the accountability? On top of that, the suspicious timing and "bad faith" of doing so just isn't right. He obviously could have easily issued these tickets the same day the incident occurred. There is no reasonable excuse for his timing. C.) As per the Sgt, no there are no traffic cams anywhere in town. So, no help there. D.) I MAY have a case for a criminal charge, but he said it was kind of weak. I have a year to file that. If he isn't a "local", maybe he won't even bother showing up? I wonder what evidence they would be able to produce via discovery?
  13. I don't think so. It wasn't downtown Newark or anything. In any case, that would only show the "start" of the situation. It continued for a while, through 2 more intersections/lights. Now, if he had a chest cam or go-pro or something on the bike, that would be helpful. It would probably hurt me on ONE of the charges, but it would prove his insanity as well. I think I would take that trade. So, if it existed, I'm sure it will never see the light of day.......
  14. Anyway, on a different "tack": 1.) Does him actually reaching over and HITTING my car with his fist amount to criminal actions? Assault? Terroristic Threats? Reckless Endangerment? (considering we were both in moving vehicles, surrounded by other motorists) I'm not looking to just "make things up", but I am looking to pile on anything that is legitimate under the circumstances. In this case, the best defense is going to be a very strong offense. 2.) I'm thinking my first statement to the judge will be to request a change of venue, to a neutral court. Given that this guy is a cop, and likely appears before this judge on a regular basis, and is probably on a first name basis with the prosecutor and all the court clerks,etc...., it hardly seems fair, or in the interest of justice for this case to be heard by this court. Surely, it would be prejudicial, and biased against me, as well as giving his testimony undue weight vs an impartial judge who has never net him before (and certainly one who doesn't "work with him" on the "same side" on weekly basis). I base all this on the fact that this is a PERSONAL dispute, occurring on/with his personal vehicle, and while he never identified himself as LE ; therefor he should enjoy no special privilege or weight to his testimony due to the nature of his employment. Again, if this was anyone but a cop, this would be a non issue. We would go to court (if he even had the balls to file the complaints to begin with). It would be my word against his, Maybe we get sent to some community dispute resolution,etc...., and ultimately it would go away. Again, he should get no special consideration because of his employment, as this did not involve his "official" capacity in any way. So, any thoughts on the likely hood of success on this motion?
  15. Just to be clear, again, I never left my lane, nor crossed over onto the shoulder he was illegally using as his personal travel lane. Yes, I see what you're saying. But, I guess my counter would be that if he was so afraid, and so conscious of the danger that my monstrous evil car posed to his sweet innocent little lightweight bike, then why would he continue to willingly, intentionally, blatantly, and unlawfully CHOOSE to continue putting himself in that dangerous scenario, by way of his multiple attempts to illegally pass me on a "dirty" "marble" filled shoulder? If he was so concerned for his safety, all he had to was stop. He isn't coming into this with "clean hands", not at all. Could I have done things different? Sure. But, much like drag racing, "first or worse". Even if you want to discount his earlier erratic operation, prior to the light, and characterize my super-low speed pass of him, at the light, as the "first" infraction, everything he did after is infinitely "worse". Maybe I should have reported this, and filed charges right away, but I just wanted to forget about it and get on with my miserable existence, such as it may be. Now this clown gets to come along, and essentially turn my life upside down, because he's butt-hurt over what should of have been a minor traffic dispute? I don' t think I can express just how much of a threat this is to me. I really can't "just get a lawyer". I can't. Not if I want to pay the rent, and eat. For the same reason, I would not, and could not pay any fines; so a plea "deal" is out of the question. Not to mention, the whole concept of "fines" is fundamentally flawed. Restitution for actual damages?. OK. Makes sense. But armed robbery/extortion by the government for so-called "violations"? No. Bull. Why does some town deserve my hard earned money more then me? Why should I lose the roof over my head, or starve so they can line their pockets and buy more "toys".
  16. Yes, we were going slow enough. I could clearly see that he was tilting his head down far more then would serve any other purpose other then to look down in the area of his crotch. Considering he also reached down more then once, and "re-arranged" himself, I stand by my assessment of his intended visual field. I don't know, or care why. I just know he wasn't watching the road at all times, he was driving erratically. Fair enough. If that was all it was, then perhaps that's all it would have been, and none of this would have happened. Given his erratic driving prior to this, it appeared differently to me, and I felt it would be safer for me to no longer be behind him. Obviously. Its still no excuse for his actions. I passed him exactly once, while at a crawl, with more then enough room to go around him without crossing the double yellow. That should tell you how far over he was. It looked like he intended to turn. My "pass" put absolutely no one in any danger. His actions endangered everyone on the road. Whatever "slight" he perceived, its no excuse for multiple attempts to pass on the shoulder, at somewhat "normal" speed. This isn't a case of bad merging manners. I see no obligation to yield to a nutjob making multiple dangerous attempts to pass me on the SHOULDER! He had absolutely no right or claim to any sort of right-of-way there. If I mis-understood his intent at the light, well then perhaps I made a mistake going around him . But it doesn't justify anything that followed. I did nothing "aggressive" towards him, in terms of how I maneuvered my vehicle. I merely held my lane and spot. All he had to do, to remain safe, was to cease his unlawful and aggressive actions. As I said, if he wasn't hiding behind a badge, he wouldn't dare to bring any of this to light, because it would be clear that he would be the one in deep trouble.
  17. Does "Reckless" or "careless" qualify for a public defender? I think its either jail time or 1yr loss of license, for a public defender.
  18. A.) Douchebag on motorcycle is driving erratically in front of me, down the road, weaving all over the place, changing speed rapidly and erratically. Rider frequently looking at his crotch, first one hand then the other, back to the crotch, all while occasionally leaving the designated travel lane, and crossing the white line onto the shoulder, and back. No turn signals ever used. Once he even briefly put a tire over the double yellow. I was behind him for a couple miles. Traffic was "moderate", going about 30-35mph. B.) Approached a red light. There is a "straight through" lane, and a right turn lane at this light. Bike guy stops, 6-7 car lengths behind car in front of him, while straddling straight lane and turn lane, but being more in the turn lane then (if only slightly) He just sits there. Given the prior erratic driving, I go slowly go around him, on his left, and stop behind another car, as the light is still red. C.) Light turns green, and I proceed normally. I assumed the bike ended up making his turn. Whatever. As far as I was concerned, he was gone and out of the picture. Moving on with my day......... D.) Except not.... Bike comes flying up next to me, on the shoulder, expecting to cut in front of me. No dice. We go back forth He cuts in and out between the travel lane and the shoulder multiple times. No turn signals that I ever saw. Multiple times he sped up past my door, but didn't have enough room to get in. He would then fall back, and make another "run" at it. So, I'm counting each of those "runs" as a separate "improper passing", each move on/off the shoulder as "failure to keep right", "failure to maintain lane", (2) counts of "failure to signal" (in/out movement of the lane should EACH be signaled), and lets throw in some "reckless" and "careless" as well. So, we go back and forth for a bit, exchanging "fingers". At one point, he gets close enough to my passenger window, and reaches over with his left hand (Hmm, maybe another "careless"- riding a bike one handed) and starts punching/banging my window. I roll it down slightly, we exchange words. I roll up the window. As we approach another light, he falls in behind me. Stays there for a while, then, when the road becomes 2 lanes, he passes me a roars off; only to cut back across my front bumper, slam on his brakes, and pull into a parking lot. I kept going, and assumed that was the end of it. Now, nearly 30 days later,on the button, I get a stack of bogus tickets. Granted, I may have "inched" over in his direction to "discourage" his passing. BUT, a.) I never broke the speed limit, b.) I never left my lane and never crossed the white line onto the shoulder. HE was attempting to pass me ON THE SHOULDER. (and a "dirty" one at that. He could have lost control at any moment) As I said, I assumed that I had escaped a further encounter with a random road raging biker; only to find out a month later that it was a cop, hell bent on revenge.
  19. A.) No money B.) No time. 30 day clock is up tomorrow, assuming I'm counting right. Like I said, he appears to have timed this just right, to discourage and impede my ability to counter. How far away would someone, hypothetically, need to be, for NJ to decline extradition on traffic/bench warrants? I can't imagine they would pay the costs of bringing someone back , from halfway across the country, on unpaid traffic tickets? Would they?
  20. Can't afford it. I'm barely scraping by, literally, with dollars to spare at the end of the month. Unless I get a public defender, no lawyer. Nor can pay any fines; I just can't. So, this is either going to have to go away, or it is going be very bad. Thanks for the reply. I'm still a little confused though. Is it 30 calendar days, period? Or are there days that don't count, such as weekends or holidays? Again, when is day 1? The day of the incident, or the following day? As I said, I don't have a plate. I have a general description of the vehicle, and since he signed/sent me tickets, his badge number. Will they help me work back from that? In regards to the "official misconduct" thing. I don't know. I'm SURE he broke numerous traffic laws. However, again, it was all in a "personal" context. Does his status as a LEO mean he should ALWAYS be held to a higher standard? Does ANY misconduct by him, whether off-duty or not equal "official"? I don't know. I'm not so much interested in that aspect of it, in regards to the incident itself. Its the fact that he is obviously using his status after the fact to bully me. If this were a private citizen, as I assumed at the time I was dealing with, that would have been the end of it. Because that "citizen" would have KNOWN he was in the wrong, and wouldn't have risked his own legal consequences. Not so with this LEO. I also think he used/abused his status/knowledge about that time limit, to intentionally squeeze in the charges just under the wire, making it difficult for me to get in my own. I feel like he is using his status to to satisfy a personal dispute/vendetta. Again, if he wasn't a cop, this wouldn't be happening. I don't know if that holds any water or not? I assumed I was dealing with a "private" nutjob. I was afraid for my safety, and I didn't want to risk filing complaints, as it would mean exposing my personal info/identity to someone who might do me harm. This guy was BANGING his fist on my window, while still moving down the road. I just wanted it to be done and over with, and to never see him again. Obviously that's not the case now. He already has my information anyway. So, if he is going to falsely accuse me of some serious traffic violations, which have the very real possibility of making my continued survival nearly impossible, then yes. I will make sure that he has to answer for his actions. Or at least use it as leverage to save myself. I'm guessing he is not expecting much of a fight. Perhaps a giant pile of tickets of his very own will bring him back to reality, and we can all just walk away and call it a wash.
  21. If a citizen wishes to sign a complaint, for traffic violations, what is the time limit, from the date the incident occurred? I've been told its 30 days? Is this true? If so, how is it counted? All days, or only business days? Is day 1 the day of the incident or the following day? If day 30 falls on a Sunday, is the next day (Monday) still "good"? What is the process? Do I need to go the PD,or the municipal court? If I have to do it by Sunday, I guess that means the PD? Do I need to know the statutes, or can they help with that, as long as I say what action I want to "charge". For example, if I say that I believe the other guy changed lanes without signalling, several times. Will they then be able to say "oh ok, then you want to alledge 3 counts of NJ XXXX:39xxx" Here's the kicker..... I don't have a name, plate number of the vehicle, but the douchebag just sent me a pile of tickets, for what I thought was water under the bridge. If 30 days is the limit, he clearly tried to just squeak them in, leaving me only a couple days to file my own complaints. So, I'm assuming they can just get his info based on the tickets? Oh also, apparently he is a cop,in the town, and he signed the tickets himself, as a cop, not Joe Citizen. This all happened while he was in a personal vehicle, in street clothes, and gave no indication of being anything but a crazed erratic nut job. I was never pulled over, and didn't even know he was one of "them". Should I just go straight to the chief for all this, or what? I can't imagine his "brothers" will be too helpful in assisting me in piling on all of this wacko's deserved tickets. Advice?
  22. Yes, although its not entirely abandoned. There still 9-10 people fighting against eminent domain (Good for them! I hope they refuse down to the last one. In fact, I hope more people start moving in and thumbing their noses at the government while reviving the town, whether the state likes it or not.). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia,_Pennsylvania http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2196 http://www.businessinsider.com/photos-of-abandoned-centralia-pa-2012-5?op=1 http://www.centraliapa.com/ Supposedly, this town was the inspiration for "Silent Hill".
  23. Not much there to see. I work there sometimes, and it's just a nice shiny new building and a huge parking lot (with no shade either... Who's brilliant idea was that?) Pretty much every thing was torn down. There are a few old buildings still standing, across the street, but I mean just kinda crappy, neglected old, but fairly modern, not cool/creepy old. There are "hiking trails" now, through a lot of the old grounds, part of the parks dept I think. Oh, also, its in Morris Plains, not Morristown.
  24. Wow. You really don't get it do you? You are fully immersed/indoctrinated in the "blue is gold and always smells like roses" camp aren't you? You'll take any and all opportunities to defend a "brother", logic, law, and common decency be damned. No, of course taking down a sign is not the same thing as the holocaust. But, the comparison, in principal, is perfectly valid. Hiding behind, "just following orders" or "just doing my job" is NOT an excuse for bad, and possibly illegal (unconstitutional) behavior. In fact, going back to the Nuremeberg/holocaust point, it didn't start out with gassing/roasting people alive. It started, "innocently" enough, with calls for increased "law and order", and for being a "good citizen" by following more and more rules; until it was too late to stop what was next. No, I don't think "Obama" or any other current American political figure has any plans to do anything like mass murder, no matter how "bad" they are. However, they are clearly going to continue to exploit every little crack in the armor of individual liberty, in order, not to kill or maim, but rather to seize more and more control and power, in order to "shape" society into what they see as "right" and "safe". (See, no "tinfoil hat, just a recognition of reality) As for the second part/point of your post, I see plenty of things about guns. Quite frankly, this is too. It is about civil liberties, and therefor it IS about guns. It is also about free speech, and about freedom from warrantless searches (I know you probably HATE that one, given your apparent attitude towards the "rest" of us who aren't a part of your special little "club"). It is about each and every right and freedom conveyed by the constitution ( and the amendments thereto), as well as what can be considered "natural" rights. You can not separate one freedom from another, as they all support and reinforce each other. No single one can stand in a vacuum, for it then becomes a "privileged" which can be rescinded at any time. "Gun rights" are inherently political, and inherently anti-"establishment" (given the present government's attack on them). The police are the tools of oppression and enforcement used against us. You should assume they will be not well liked amongst those who ardently support individual liberties, particularly as it pertains to guns. Don;t take it personally. Further, stating a desire to engage in that "oppression", by advocating for censorship of posts/opinions which you don not like, only further reinforces the stereo-type; as does the "cyber-bullying" you and several others engage in against "ShawnMoore" and others who post similar feelings/opinions It does nothing to improve the image of police, in the eyes of those of us who are already disinclined to like/trust you. No, not at all. I enjoy a vast majority of the things "ShawnMoore" and others have posted. In many cases, it is information that a.) I am glad I now know, and b.) in many cases, are things I would never have otherwise heard about. There is plenty of content here, for everyone to find something they like. Unless a HUGE portion of the site is deleted, and posts/discussion is strictly limited to practical gun talk only (IE, "My gun is broke, how do I fix it?" - "I'm thinking about buying gun xyz. Is it good?" - "Where can I shoot my gun?" - etc..), there is no fair way to arbitrarily decide what is/isn't "worthy" of discussion. In fact, many "articles" which may seem not directly related to guns, do in fact have a connection. See the second part of response to BLF above. Also, just as a little side note, yeah ok, maybe the guy has a bit of anti-cop bias, but I don't see very many, if any at all, of his "cop-does-bad-things" articles turning out to be false. So, given the sheer volume of "bad behavior", clearly this is a real trend, and something which is good for the public to know. Again, personally, I appreciate him taking the time to post this stuff. Further, given the usual volume of views, responses and discussion in them in, clearly there are plenty of other people on here who find value in those posts. Again, if you don't, then click on something else. Why? You can see, from the "list page" who started the thread. Obviously, you've got a "hard-on" for bullying "ShawnMoore". If you really don't like or have any interest in what he posts, then don't look. There is plenty of other content here for you, without you crapping all over things you, by your own admission, have no interest in reading.
