  1. Such a beautiful day, and somehow my wife read my mind when she did the food shopping. Getting ready to take ribs and chicken off the grill in about 10 minutes..Great day to be out doors.
  2. Harassing the State Police is a bad strategy. The SP do not make the laws, they just enforce them, barking up the wrong tree. Anyone who participates in this stunt can count on their firearm being confiscated forever, so that's like at least $500.00 worth of hardware gone forever. A visit to each participants home and having ALL of their firearms impounded is very likely. Then there will be court costs and legal fees, $5,000.00 minimum, maybe closer to upwards of $20,000 per individual. That's not civil disobedience, it's picking a fight you can't win and that's just plain stupid.
  3. When I was investigating the mfg of the rail in my OP I found that Midwest Industries has a few drop in rail systems that are very similar. A little to spiky for my taste but may be worth checking out if you like the full length rail look
  4. I had to stop watching at 12 minutes (btw, skip to ten minuets to avoid the introductions) where Floriio claims that the anti-federalists were against standing armies, thus also against the 2A. Anyone who has read the Federalist Papers knows that it was Madison who was clearly against standing armies, NOT the anti-federalists. If anything, the anti-federalists wanted their own standing armies in their respective states. Furthermore, when you look at state constitutions like that of PA and Kentucky, they clearly state the individual right to bear arms for common defense AND individual defense.
  5. I contacted Radical Firearms to get the spec for the gas port. I was told the gas port size they use on my barrel is .089" Then I found this on the interwebs. It's from a chart listing gas system specs. bbl length-bbl diameter-distance to muzzle-min gas port diameter - max gas port diameter 16 - .750 - 8.375 - .070 - .086 assuming the chart is correct, this probably explains the overgassing with the gas port on my bbl being .003" larger than the maximum recommended diameter..
  6. I have to admit, the topic of training and CCW has crossed my mind. On one hand, I believe there should be no mandated training. It can create an exclusionary condition by making it so expensive that one may not be able to afford exercising their right to self protection and personal security. There truly should be no condition set upon exercising ones constitutional rights. On the other hand, I've seen how some folks handle themselves at the range, and if we are being perfectly honest with ourselves here, NJ has an over abundance of morons and loons. I guess back in 1776 it was easier to deal with this type of dilemma. Towns were small and everyone knew everyone so if someone went off the rails or was a known criminal, any issues concerning safety were easily handled by the community. Life was much simpler back then. Anyone who hunts has to pass hunter education and I don't think there has been an outcry over that. Probably because it's free and relatively easy to pass.if one's IQ is over a shoe size. Furthermore, it's hunters educating hunters so there is no feeling that we are being forced to participate or judged by bureaucrats. I did not mind hunter ed at all, actually, it was interesting to me. I think the cost of hunter ed is covered by hunting licenses. Can there be a middle ground? We can pretty much all agree that nobody wants to see irresponsible people packing heat but, irresponsible or not, everyone has a natural (or god given) right to protect themselves. So this begs several questions, should a person have to prove that they are responsible and capable in order to obtain a CCW? Should there be a fee? Who should be responsible for administration of CCW? Should CCW be nationally recognized like drivers licenses? Would you endorse the NRA as a legitimate provider of free or low cost training? Should free training be paid for with ammo taxes? Personally, I'm a believer in the philosophy of John Locke where everyone has the innate right (freedom) to do whatever pleases them as long as it does not threaten the safety of others. A person should only loose rights after they have abused them. Now that the troll is gone, we have an actual opportunity to debate this topic in a courteous and rational manner. I am truly curious to know everyone's thoughts. What, if any, conditions are acceptable to you?
  7. Good point, I was wondering where I would crimp the tube, probably as close to the gas block as possible. In spite of the abundance of good advice, I'm going to give it a try anyway. It is not dangerous and can easily be undone. Like I said, inner engineer, experiments, I just have to know. Originally I wanted a NJ compliant fixed sight tower but my bbl lacked the detents, so I went with a folding two piece. Changing the block won't be difficult if I go that rout. Now that is interesting, didn't know they existed. Will look into that too.
  8. I thought the opposite would happen, that the gas tube would become clogged with carbon buildup over time, like my arteries from eating too much butter.
  9. Ya, I thought the comment was out of character and out of context related to the post of mine that you quoted.and thought another body got snatched. Thanks for clarifying. Can't be too careful, there are pod people all over the place.
  10. Based on what you, and others, are telling me, I'm wondering if the problem may resolve itself over time with some build up in the gas system. I've only put about 120 rounds through it so far. I will get some tamer 55gr 223 and give that a try, though I'm already invested in a lot of M855. The idea behind going with a 1:9 twist on the M4gery was so I could share the M855 with my 1:8 SPR but also shoot the lighter less expensive stuff in the M4 too. Another idea comes to mind now, I dunno how good an idea it is but I may try it anyway just for kicks. I really like the sight profile on the flip up front sight gas block so that would be the last thing I'll change, I agree 100% that an adjustable block would resolve this but they add moving parts. My inner engineer is telling me to keep it as simple as possible with the least amount of moving parts. What I will do is look for gas tubes with a smaller ID, or maybe just get another plain vanilla tube and experiment by crimping it to restrict the flow until the gas pressure is correct. Thanks to everyone for you help. I am OCD about some things, like ejection patterns, because they are a symptom of an underlying problem. After reading your suggestions, it's apparent that going with a heavier buffer would only remedy the symptom and not fix the problem. Your input has helped me realize this and put me on the right track.
  11. Please explain? I'm happy as can be that the troll is gone. I'm pretty sure I had a hand in getting rid of him too Do you have a problem with that? I'm not sure where you are coming from with this so please explain yourself..
  12. I finally got the M4gery I built last fall out to the range last weekend. It shoots fantastic but the timing seems to be off. I dunno if it really matters but the brass is ejecting at between 1 o'clock and 2 o'clock, but mostly closer to 1. First lemme give y'all some specs. Radical Firearms 5.56 16" 1:9 M4 profile carbine length gas system. I dunno what the gas port size is. Tried to look it up but no luck. Also, I was shooting AE M855 Anyway, from what I've read elsewhere it seems it is "over gassed" but I can adjust the timing with a heavier buffer. The one that's in there now came with a PSA LPK and weighs in at 2.85 Oz. I think the difference is negligible from the 3.0 it's supposed to be but I thought I should mention it just in case. So the question of the day is: how much heavier a buffer do I need to go with to get the ejection closer to 3 o'clock?
  13. Maybe this. I'm kinda thinking something happened where the retainer was getting whacked back and forth and opened up the hole wide enough to eject the pin and spring.. I'd check the hole to see if it got hammered into an oval shape. Maybe back the extension out a bit and wiggle the retainer pin to see if there is any play.
  14. Strength, ventilation, , I like the look, can share with my M4 outfitted with M-LOK if I had to, and best of all, because i like saying M-LOK
  15. Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. It's as if his account was hijacked or something.
  16. Yep, the perspective is on it's side from the bottom.. It's a shame too because if it was uniform all the way around I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Well, maybe a few hundred heartbeats, Gieselle gear is mad expensive. I think I found an alternative with ALG's EMR v1 handguard. Nice and smooth with just M-LOK slots on all four rails. I despise the look of a full length picatinny rail and it would serve no purpose on my SPR. I do not use open sights on it, all I really want is to mount is a bipod stud and maybe a sling attach point.
  17. Thats the thing. If someone wants to come to an obviously pro2A forum and make an argument for whatever, and they present their argument in a logical and respectful manner, that I can deal with. All this guy wanted to do was come here, piss off people and sucker them into saying something that would either incriminate them in some way or inflame them to the point where they would be at risk of getting kicked from the forum. In other words, a professional troll. His being shown the door was long overdue.
  18. We.... are free to move, so slave state is not entirely accurate, we can also vote the bums out but the problem is that there are too many people who have become dependent on the bums which has created a co-dependent existence for both the bums and the people who live off of the entitlements the working class pays for. It's a vicious cycle. The working pay to support the non-working and we cannot do anything about it because they have out bred us. Endemic voter fraud does not help either. It is an unsustainable model that will ultimately crumble under it's own weight. At no time did I ever say the CO should have been keel hauled. What I did do was project that our "slave masters" as you may call them have created a separate set of unwritten rules for their dogs because they do not want the dogs to turn on their masters. I have been given several of those cards by friends who are LEO. They state that I am a responsible driver and you know what, I guess I am because I've not been pulled over for a traffic violation in like 25 years. The ideology that I espouse is that the law should be applied evenly among the dogs and sheep alike. If the CO gets a pass, then so should everyone else. That's all.
  19. WINNER WINNER Chicken Dinner !!! I thought that too but only looked at Geisselle's current offerings. After a quick image search this came up confirming it..
  20. I think I have the Mfg. of the HG ID'd as Midwest Industries. I assumed the logo in the pic was just a MI promo picture that AIM scooped to display MI's rail section but after looking at all of MI's handguards I'm pretty sure the design of the HG is very much in line with their engineering style. I think the thing that may have thrown me off is that the HG is probably on it's side and the full length picitinny rail cannot be seen from that angle Still I cannot find a HG on MI's site with the same egg shaped vents. Maybe it's a discontinued model.
  21. Can anyone ID this HG I found on the AIM Surplus website on their M-LOK accessories page? They do not seem to sell the HG on their site, so I have no idea who makes it.
  22. It is your self righteous duty to report your imaginary friend to the psych ward immediately, preferably in person.. If he obtained a CCW without meeting Florida's minimum training requirement, he is in violation of Florida state law.. So, how about you get on that right away. Yes, I heard about that person who defended himself against a brutal attempted murder by a drug user who had a reputation for burglaries, not to mention his association with the upstanding pacifist community organization known as the Crips. Thank you for bringing that up. It reminds me that the CCW system works.
