  1. It was ,223 ammo and the rifle is speced for 5.56 /.223
  2. I was limited. Its still fun. I know I don't need it. But ..why wouldn't I use it
  3. The vortex is a RDS. It just has a 2x screw on magnifier. Since the mount is quick detach I have no issues just piping it off when I want to run iron sights. My eyes arnt great so at out door ranges where the closest target for center fire is 100 yards I'd like to be able to see where I'm hitting.
  4. I'm having issues trying to order that kalinka mount. Order won't process at all. Contacted them waiting for a reply.
  5. Ar. Its fun like looking through my 10/22 10x at 150 yards.
  6. Iv been happy with it too. Even at the indoor range at 25 yards its nice.
  7. Just ordered one and an ar15 15/20 for my dad. Can't wait to get them and run so.e rounds through them!
  8. Since the 2 is coming out or has come out the old model is on sale! Great price I think and with the code 44flat you get $5 shipping. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Vortex174-StrikeFire-RedGreen-Dot-Scope/753526.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3FrecordsPerPage%3D18%26No%3D0%26N%3D0%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dvortex%26search%3DSearch&No=0&Ntt=vortex
  9. I ordered this http://www.cabelas.com/product/Vortex174-StrikeFire-RedGreen-Dot-Scope/753526.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3FrecordsPerPage%3D18%26No%3D0%26N%3D0%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dvortex%26search%3DSearch&No=0&Ntt=vortex The 2 just came out so they are discounting the old models.
  10. I like the mount. Now to find a decent but inexpensive sight. I'm thinking a 1-3x red dot type. I know the AK is not a bullseye shooter but I'd like to be able to hit the target reliably at 100 yards and see where I'm shooting. I'd love the setup my dad has on his at (primary arms RDS and a 3x vortex magnifier. ) but I dont know if that's worth it on an AK.
  11. Lol. I ordered a 30cal bore snake. I'll order a 30cal cleaning kit later this week now as well. Thanks !
  12. I was looking that that one. I like the Midwest low pro o e but this is half the price. I might have to give it a shot.
  13. I get more failure to feeds with the federal 22 then The GB. Only gun I have that can run the federal with only a few ff is the ruger 10/22. I had 10 ff and 2 duds of federal last weekend only one bullet head fell off of the GB lol.
  14. I'm looking for a low profile scope mount. I think I'd like to stay away from a quad rail system and the ultimax gas tube.
  15. I have a welded ak74 brake. Does that change your advice?
  16. I didn't take it as you being smart to me. I agree. I prefure over the ear to in hear. At the indoor range I use both. I have weirs shaped ear canals and even iPod type ear phones fall out of my ears easily. I wouldn't trust plugs alone personally. Seems the Walmart near me does not have Much in the ways oh hunting accessories. Booo
  17. I have the Russian jag and brushes. I was worried about the crown. Anyone else want to weigh in?
  18. I don't trust the ear plugs by them selves personally. I make my guests double up at the indoor range. Outdoors over the ear protection is normally fine for me.
  19. Yeah my dads friend said the ro's have been cracking down on passes being not visable recently. I have around the neck lanyards in going to get clear poutches for the passes and just have mine on and it will be easy for guests to just swap the pass from person to person
  20. I think I'll hit the depot for eyes and Walmart for some ears. I have plugs and I normally double up at the in door range. Sounds like 3 extra sets should be under my budget of 45 bucks if I find what I need around those prices.
  21. Yeah I wouldnt want all them shooting at the same time anyway. Too much risk of one of them doing something stupid and me not being able to correct them.
  22. I need to pick up maybe 3 sets of eye and ear protection for guests at the range. Something that's good protection but not going to cost a ton as I normally don't have guests super frequently. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  23. Cool. I'll have to pick up some extra sets of ears and eyes. I have a bunch of friends and family that want to go and learn to shoot. Figured it would be more fun as a group out doors. Easton gun guild is great but not for groups and newish shooters. The rod ate great there but with shot guns and AR's going off its hard to hear. Lol.
  24. I have a guest pass, how does it work exactly? the website is not clear. says I can only have ONE pass, but am allowed up to 3 guests on the property? anyone have any idea how it works? can only one of us shoot at a time and we have to share a bench/port? have to keep handing off the guest pass to the person shooting? or am i reading too much into it? thanks!
