Perhaps you are too young to remember, but this did happen in 1994.

Oh man, how many guns did the feds seize from you when they banned guns and confiscated them from everybody? Sorry for your loss.

How can you say that and live in NJ?

I guess you win the dumbest fucking comment for the day..

Well, I purchased guns in the last few years. Neither the state nor police have bothered me over it. No one has come knocking on my door to take my guns or anyone else's that was done legally.

Just say it's the comment you disagree with most for the day. Because you'd deem the most brilliant posts in the world dumb if they don't support your opinions.

You ought to get your facts straight.  Crime with a gun in NJ is 3-5 years mandatory...as per the Graves act.  Now tell me how many were plea bargained down to lesser charges.  What a dumb and ignorant statement.

Unless the feds take over in which case their laws supercede NJ punishments.

    Example

Person drove to Virginia, purchased handguns for her cousin and her cousin's boyfriend who didn't feel like waiting for FIDs, and gave them to them. Hours after giving the guns to unlicensed people, cops were called for shots fired. Oh, and one of those people she strawpurchased the guns for had been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful possession of a handgun and two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

18 months. That's all she got. For travelling between states, purchasing guns for unlicensed buyers, one of whom was dealing with charges for violent crime. Maximum 5 year sentence and she got 18 months. This is the EXACT kind of thing that people freak out about when it comes to strawpurchasing. Federal enforcement of violent gun crime is notoriously weak.

  4. It's not going to pass, but people need to be aware of this bullshit.

Have you guys seen the list of guns banned? Anything resembling an AR-15, anything resembling an AK-47. Guess my M&P 15-22 would be an assault rifle. Get fucked.

Forgive me for my constant need for clarification; given what you just said, this would negate the need for the all coveted FID?

Not at all. Permanent alien residents still need a FID to purchase in NJ.

I can speak with authority here because I am a UK citizen with legal permanent resident status living in NJ.

A non-immigrant person present in the US with a visa is not generally allowed to obtain or possess firearms.

If you obtain LPR status you are eligible for many of the rights guaranteed to the citizens of the US by the constitution - 2A being one of them.

As an LPR I still have to jump through all the legal hoops that a citizen does to obtain firearms in NJ - including FPIC and PtPP. I also have to provide my green card at an FFL when doing a background check to prove that I am here as an LPR, not a US citizen.

I married an immigrant myself. Once her petition to become a permanent resident was approved, getting a FID was a breeze.

She did not need to show her green card when purchasing her Beretta M9A1. Once you have a FID, that's all you need to prove you can buy a firearm (not including handgun permits).

  6. I filmed my friend in college for her presentation for teaching children how to wash their hands. She used glitter as an example. Try to just use water and the glitter really doesn't come off. Add soap and it comes off drastically easier. And sing the ABCs to yourself (again, made for children). The ABCs song is long enough to do it and everyone knows it.

Have you ever tried that?  It's awkward, although doable.

Pistol whipping someone? No. I'm trying to avoid having to getting into a potential deadly argument if I can (Which if a Glock is being drawn, I'd assume it is.).

Not entirely sure why she hates Glocks so much.

  8. I remember when the FDA pushed the swine flu vaccine through, skipping trials and stuff. People flipped out because the companies making the vaccine wouldn't be held responsible for bad side effects due to lack of testing. Seems like the same people are pushing for this to be pushed through now without proper testing. Maybe it does actually help. Who knows.

Actually getting a chance to read the study. It's interesting, but there's some key flaws to point out that need to be addressed. Nothing about severity for the patients. I like that the average timeline of the virus is the same for controls and for treated. There's a clear age difference, but you'd expect it to work against the drug's favor. I just feel like there's so much we don't know about the patients. Were these all moderate cases? Three patients on the drug transferred to the ICU because their symptoms became too severe. Another died even though their nasal swab came back clear. Another became sick on the drug.

So some data from it looks promising, but there's plenty of reason for hesitating.

The LAST thing dems want is a fast inexpensive treatment before November 3rd.

Once this runs it's course, there will be plenty of time to nit pick perfect cures.  Right now, we have to throw ALL the lead we have downrange, even granny's ol' snake eyes.  This is an unprecedented disaster, no one living has ever experienced such a thing.  We are solving the problem in REAL TIME, on the fly, and sometimes winging it.

That's a sick accusation and a disgrace to suggest politicians don't want people to get better. You've fallen for the BS us vs them mentality.

If your main objective is to load small batches of match type rifle ammo, then IMO you bought the wrong press. You should have bought a Reading or a RCBS Rock Chucker single stage. I am not a Lee hater, I own a LCTP with set ups for 9mm, 45ACP & .223 and for blaster ammo I wouldn't think twice about using it. I don't have any scientific proof regarding this though, just my opinion..  think there is a slight amount of play in that turret that is not there on a true single stage press which could result in small differences working against your original intent of loading uber-precise  ammo.

100% correct. Lee Turret Press isn't a great choice for small batches of precision ammo. But considering how much stuff I got from the selling for a great price, it was a hell of a bargain for getting started.

I actually JUST got a MEC Marksman yesterday after a bunch of other people recommended it to me. Did 50 rounds today. Holy crap was I thrilled with it. The turret has a little wobble in the Lee Turret Press resulting in inaccuracies with bullet seating. Today, 48/50 COALs came out to 2.7500". The other two came out to 2.7495".  The action of the lever on the Marksman is so smooth and effortless. So stable.

All this talk of Taylor Ham pork roll reminds me - did anyone used to eat that "chicken roll" stuff they used to have in the deli like 40 years ago? It was like all the beaks, feet and anuses ground up and glued together. Good stuff.

You may want to consider doing a time study on doing it your way vs letting it rotate and doing one whole round at a time.

The reason I say this is that you're handling the brass 4 times more.  If each time you're handling it adds one second, that's 4 seconds your way vs 1 second the normal way.  I don't see any time savings in disabling the auto rotate, so for every 100 rounds you're adding 300 seconds or 5 minutes which adds up because that's 50 minutes per 1k.

I'm not really trying to save much time though. I clean between depriming and sizing to make sure primer pockets get clean too. And I'm only loading about 50 rounds or so at a time for league. So I'm making sure everything is as precise as possible. I feel like I'd lose a little bit of that if I automate it.

We can disagree till the cows come home.. With a lee classic turret you are reloading one round at a time. And yes you can set up to 4 different dies at once per that press. The beauty of that is you can buy multiple turrets and set it once per caliber, and you are good to go. You are still only doing one operation per pull.. it is just that you don't have stop and change dies in order to move to the next stage. If you are getting into re loading pistol ammo, a single stage(with one die) just wont cut it in my opinion It's too slow and monotonous. You can take your time and learn all the steps on a turret press and go at your own pace. It is a far better way to load pistol ammo vs. a traditional single stage press.

This is essentially how I've used my Lee Turret Press. I have it so the turret doesn't rotate automatically. Deprime all my cases. Turn the turret one stage. Resize them all, turn the turret a stage. Seat the bullet for them all. Done. Then I have two four hole turrets, one set up for .223 and one for 6.5 creedmoor. Pretty convenient.

this is probably the 7th or 8th breakup of a large event in the lakewood hasidic community since the outbreak. i have a friend who lives there who tells me there are literally dozens more that did NOT make the news. weddings, funerals, religious classes, etc. basically they're going about their business and don't care whatsoever about restrictions, edicts etc.

on the one hand, i'm right there with them, fk the man. it's a free society and i'll do what i want. on the other, come on guys, you should know better and self-police

The problem really becomes when children are there and elderly who are beyond knowing better. Kids have no say in being exposed and neither do the elderly who get dragged there by their kids. And then there's the people who go home from huge parties and gatherings that then go visit their parents that they didn't bring.

If it was only the the adults choosing to go out who were getting sick and dying, I'd be fine with that, but the virus isn't exactly choosy about who it infects a week later.

@Zeke WOW, yep that makes sense.  When nobody buys his bullshit as Character #1, he jumps into a phone booth & emerges as Character #2.  Problem is it's always DEEP legal questions regarding skirting NJ law and doing it with such low post counts.  It's his M.O.  Most "normal" people lurk, like a few posts themselves, say a few things to build a post count, then post easy shit like "9 or .45?".  Not this heavy-duty, hair-splitting, legal, "how can I get over" BS.

That's not what he's suggesting and that's some serious tinfoil hat BS right there suggesting I make multiple accounts to troll this forum.

A new forum member asking about FIDs when they are getting into guns seems like a reasonable place to start for a new shooter. Why would they be participating in first focal plane vs second focal plane arguments or finding new powders or whatever technique when they haven't even gotten passed the first step of getting an ID and getting a gun?
