  1. quit cold turkey. Calculate how much you spend on cigarettes per week. Total up how much that is and plan a great vacation with your savings. Print out the pictures of your destination spot and put it up in the house where you and your wife can see it, talk about it, plan for it and get excited about it. Then be excited that you'll be able to walk around on your vacation without stinking, wheezing or having to stop to smoke all the time! Good luck dude!
  2. I don't know Van Drew, but is it possible that he changed his mind/stance?
  3. Agreed. They were about 45 days from beginning to end, but it would have been shorter if one of my references wasn't out of town. Very fair process
  4. Thanks Bob for welcome. I'll shoot you a pm if meeting is possible. Steve
  5. Thank you. I"m in Princeton and shoot at TTC up in Flemington, so far. My FFL is affiliated with CRRC in West Windsor, so will check that out shortly. Thank you!
  6. Believe me, if it wasn't for both of our jobs, I'd be heading your way also!
  7. Hi All: New shooter here. Have wanted to take up shooting for a while and my wife finally nudged me enough to do it. Have taken some courses thru my local FFL dealer, certified NRA trainer. Recently purchased and picked up my first handgun- Beretta APX 9mm FDE. Love it! Waiting for 30 days to be up so I can pick up my second, .22 M&P Compact. The .22 will also be the gun that my wife and 10 year old son will shoot, after they both complete their training courses. Shooting for sport and the fun of it. Steve
  8. 1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID). New FID w/ 3 permits 2. Police Department where you applied. Princeton Police Department 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. Corporal Marla Montague (professional and courteous) 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. Approx 45 days from beginning to end. One of my references was travelling and his reference check back to PD was delayed. Would have been closer to 30 days. 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). Copy of US Passport as well as a local PD document requesting some further information. 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). Called my wife to ask if she had been domestically abused by me and if she had any concerns about my owning a gun. Wife told officer no to all questions and that her application for a FID would be coming in next few weeks. Overall, pleasantly surprised.
