  1. Why 10 and not 8, or 6? First it will be 10, then it will be 5, then it will be 1 and eventually none. Just give it enough time (this is like frog in a pan theory). I was joking with my friends few years back how you'll have the right to bear arms but you won't be allowed to own bullets. Fast forward few years and it seems we're getting there.
  2. hybrids are some of the worst cars ever. This guy pretty much sums it up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyaA5I9IvPo
  3. Excellent article. Just earlier today I read an article sent by NRA saying how they're looking to pass a law for the southern states requiring registration of long guns calibers larger than 22 and if anyone was to purchase 2 or more, a report from BATF to Federal government. All based on BS. It's like global warming.
  4. Anybody watch "The Road"? Awesome movie. I personally think it's going to be an economic collapse which may cause famine since majority of people are incapable of producing for themselves anymore. We may or may not get some other elements from the above list as a desperate attempt by governments to retain control but I'm not betting on it. I think it will just slowly bleed (economically) towards worse and worse until it finally fails. Parts of the world (or various countries) will be left in disarray and parts will get organized into a nanny cities or states by the remains of the governments. Something like in Babylon AD or Children of Men movies. As we're already witnessing, food prices are soaring, all courtesy of inflation and before we know it, people may be in lines waiting for a handout. Only there may not be any. Times are much different than in the 30s. People back then knew how to make things and weren't lazy.
  5. This is scary stuff, I have the exact same rifle with the same ammo. Thanks for posting. I guess I better keep the wakizashi closer...
  6. I agree and admit I haven't been to that website for quite some time. I usually pick what I like and discard the rest. They did have some good articles there though or else I wouldn't have bookmarked it. I prefer the myspace link with a collection of videos... how to build a saw, a shelter, how to make a soap, what are the edible plants etc. I'm a visual person and videos tell it best. The best way to prepare is to find real friends who are aware (not facebook friends), know how to create something and to have knowledge of how to grow food. If SHTF so bad, I personally believe a castle in the boonies and all the ammo in the world won't save you because there's really very little secluded land these days and eventually you'll have to get out.
  7. A lot of good stuff here http://www.myspace.com/prepare2survive/blog/499348269 blog, forum http://www.survivalblog.com/ http://neithercorp.us/forum/ There's a ton of this stuff out there.
  8. As a noob, I did a bunch of reading and people generally said buy once, cry once. So I ordered an Aimpoint M4s. My main reason was because battery lasts something like 8 years, it has lens caps and killflash filter for hiding the reflection of the lens. Being nervous about spending so much $$$, (to justify my purchase) I went to read more reviews and it seemed there's a lot more to expensive sights than the above (speed when acquiring new targets being one of them). I also found out some 3rd party companies make lens caps for eotechs too, oh well ... battery life for those still wasn't even close. For backup rear sight I ordered one of these: Also got really good reviews.
  9. Only few years back teachers like that would be sent to an asylum. Liberalism seems to truly be a mental disorder ... and I didn't believe it...
  10. I will assume everybody here watched "Mars Attacks". "We come in peace! We come in peace!"
  11. Must be some peaceful aliens then. Let me rephrase it then If I could withstand 50+ Gs of shock to my brain (aka immediate turn from down to up like in the videos), I'd rule this world!! Or if that's not enough, here's another one... if I had technology that can defy gravity (immediate change in direction), again, I'd rule this world!!
  12. Consider that oil may not be cheap in few months from now...
  13. Apparently laws of physics don't apply to aliens
  14. Buying in a retail store is a waste of money (in my opinion). If you're not really really in a great hurry do yourself a favor, go to http://www.techbargains.com and see if they have anything you like. Then go to http://www.fatwallet.com, http://www.retailmenot.com or http://www.bigcrumbs.com and check for current coupons and cashback offerings. All that can save you hundreds. That said, laptop is definitely more portable. You fold the screen and it's ready to go. When I'm at home, I hook up my laptop to a 24" LCD and a keyboard. If however you don't plan on transporting your PC but real estate is of importance all-in-ones or the super-slim desktops are a solution. Some of them can also be mounted to the back of an LCD screen. Few years ago I bought an Asus EEE box B202 and mounted it to the back of a 22" LCD. Takes next to no space. Great for browsing, some Word processing and messenger/skype. Other than that it'seriously underpowered. Nowadays they have more powerful ones. B1012 or B1501 is dual core, can fit more RAM and has a much better graphics card. http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=3qRH01yHQFgo84hY http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=TjrpGyB7Ohm367YS These are a bit more expensive. tigerdirect.com has a "no-name" brand, very similar configuration usually for a lot less. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6748154&CatId=2313 Doesn't seem to be on sale now, a friend of mine snagged one for a lot less. Dell has some neat small PCs too with a much better CPU than Atom.
