  1. I wonder if these are going to be discontinued. This price hundreds cheaper than I have seen in the past (even taking into account the fact that ARs are finally coming down in price). http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... /411538848
  2. You get your CBOB in yet? I did, but it is sitting in the Shore Shot vault until I can pick up my PTP paperwork in Middletown. The Middletown Police clerk's hours are short and only Monday through Friday. It means I have to be home at some point during a normal workweek. What a pain. I will get those papers tomorrow (working from home thankfully) and hopefully pick it up on Friday night. It shoots really nice and is a beauty though.
  3. I will be there tonight. I'm bringing my CZ 75B 40S&W, Glock 34, and Ruger PC-9. If I get my scope mount in the mail today, I'll bring my brand new CZ 452 in 17HM2 and leave one of the others behind.
  4. There are some funny hours there. Wednesday: 6:30pm-9pm Friday: 6:30pm-9pm Sunday: 1pm-4pm
  5. Talk to Wolfy and have him show you the video he used to learn his tricks. He can take his Ruger apart and put it back together in about a minute.
  6. You could win the 2x4 Stake Cutting Match with one shot.
  7. Optics Planet is having a sale. They always have good prices. There's a really good price on a Bushnell Trophy Red Dot scope. Plenty of other stuff too. It's always free shipping there too. http://www.opticsplanet.net/clearance.h ... yclearance
  8. I hope it works out. The Henry rifles certainly look nice. I believe I saw the MIM Info on the Firing Line and/or Marlin Owner's forum. I own guns that have MIM parts. I'm not overly stressed about it. I do think they look cheesy though (i.e. compare an old S&W revolver's trigger to the black pot-metal looking one on them these days). As long as the MIM parts are tucked out of view, they'll suffice. On the other hand, I am happy that a few of my favorite guns are all steel. Let us know how she shoots, or better yet come to BA on a Wednesday and let us all find out for ourselves.
  9. The Henry rifle also has a lot of MIM parts. I don't know if that matters to you. It seems to bother a lot of the 1911 guys. I had good luck with Olde English Outfitters in Ohio(see link below). $10 shipping too! http://www.oeoutfitters.com/scripts/pro ... roduct=606
  10. CDNN has a sale running on the Remington Mauser rifles. It lasts until Saturday. I have bought from them before and they are good to deal with and have really good prices on their specials. (I got this in an e-mail, so I am just pasting it in here.) Note: The 798 is a true Mauser action. The Model 799 (made for smaller cartidges with shorter action) is a pseudo Mauser. It has all the characteristics except the claw extractor for controlled round feed. It uses a Sako style extractor. http://www.remington.com/pages/news-and ... untry.aspx CDNN Sports, Inc. REMINGTON EUROPEAN MAUSER RIFLES ZASTAVA FACTORY, AMERICAN PRICE! offers expire Saturday January 9th @ 2:00pm cst. 11. I'm not a fan of pistol grips on shotguns. I really don't see the need for it unless you're concealing it or something. It was certainly cold yesterday. The gusty wind really sealed the deal. Well, I'm less of a fan now. Actually, the grip came with the Mossberg 500 Home Defense combo. The package has a 28" Vented Rib barrel and an 18" one. I thought the pistol grip and short barrel would make it easier to handle indoors. I also think that the recoil is manageable because you simply swing your arms back with recoil, as opposed to bearing the brunt with your shoulder. I certainly won't be bringing it back to any indoor or outdoor ranges unless I have the shoulder stock on it. I'm not that good-looking to begin with, so I can't afford to be punching myself in the face too often.
  12. I was out yesterday with another forum member and we went shooting at Collier's Mills WMA in Jackson. We only ran into two other people who were dumb enough to be out there in the wind and cold. I forgot how much more fun it is to shoot outdoors. I got to work out my AR-22 and my Mossberg 500. I did learn a painful lesson too. The Mossberg is my home defense gun and I had it in pistol grip configuration, but had never fired it that way. I wanted to have some idea of how it felt to shoot that way. I was having problems hitting anything with a slug shooting from the hip. I lined up the gun high to shoot a slug and the recoil ended up having me punch myself in the face and now I have a fat lip. I learned that shotgun slugs and pistol grips are a bad combination. Besides that, shooting rimfires out there was awesome. My Spike's tactical AR-22 was as accurate as I hoped, and shooting a rifle in 22Mag was really fun. I am psyched to get my CZ 452 in 17HM2 in a few days.
  13. Oops. I got another guy who works there (Dan) mixed up with Jim. Jim is the person you are talking about. Real nice guy too.
  14. Probably Dan. He is tall and thin.
  15. Black is beautiful brother! :character-afro: :character-afro:
  16. The difference between the Government model (5") and Commander length (4.25") is only 3/4". I can deal with the slightly shorter sight radius because the command length just feels less muzzle heavy to me. Matt, The idea of me intentionally blackening a stainless gun must be like nails on a blackboard to you.
  17. I'm a fat-fingered typist.
  18. That Guardian gun has an alloy frame. It makes sense if it's a carry gun I guess, but the full steel frame certainly cuts down on perceived recoil.
  19. What did you get Tim? Moisin? Dragunov Sniper? MVT40?
  20. Matt, I'm not trying to rub it in, but I am really glad I got one. My dealer had mentioned that they were going to be discontinued but I thought he had bad info. You might try Guns4Sale on GunsAmerica.com. He has the "blemish" CBOBs that sell for $150 less than the perfect ones. From everything I have read, it takes a magnifying glass to find the imperfections in the "blemish" guns. I was originally going to buy one, but he had just sold the last of them. He was expecting another shipment and got more in last week.
  21. Trust me. They go fast. The Buds price included shipping too! These guys always seem to have a few in stock, but they are $80 more expensive.
  22. I know some people on the forum had been looking for this gun. I just got an e-mail from Buds Gun Shop. They have them in stock (don't know how many), and at a better price than I got mine. If you want one, I would jump on it. These things fly out of the store. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... s_id/41044
  23. After doing a little more research... It seems that CZ will be making their new rimfire rifles (new model 455 will replace 452, new model 456 will replace 453) with interchangeable barrels to swap calibers. It will be something like the Sako Quad. This way I'll be able to have my cake and eat it too. 22LR, 22Mag, and 17HMR all in one gun (albeit three barrels). For now, only the 455 American is on their website. http://cz-usa.com/products/view/455-american/ Since only Savage is making rifles in 17 HM2 (CZ, Marlin, Remington have all discontinued them), I decided to pick up a CZ 452 Varmint. The CZ 452 (American and Varmint models) are incredibly scarce now that word has gotten around about them not being produced any more. They are running $500 used on GunBroker. I found a place that has 20 in stock and is selling them for $420 new (in case anyone else is interested). http://www.rrarms.com/catalog.php?prod=G02042
  24. Got one Chad. By the way, New Jersey laws suck. Nobody wants to be anywhere near an AR with a compensator/muzzle break on it. The freaking thing is insanely loud and, if you're shooting indoors, creates a localized hurricane that blows away anything that weighs less than a few pounds (i.e. spare targets, loose ammo, etc). If I had it to do over again I would've bought a heavy barrel upper with a straight muzzle. Oh wait, I still can. As for the rimfire rifle, I was thinking about something I could take to NJ Wildlife Management Areas. They allow rimfire and shotguns, but no centerfire.
