  1. GAPP will be offering an AR beginners course on February 19, 2012 at Fort Dix Range 14. This course is the NRA First steps rifle course (specifically for the AR rifle platform). It is designed to introduce the new AR-15 owner to their rifle properly and safely. The classroom portion covers the history of the platform, disassembly, reassembly, cleaning, and aftermarket accessories... as well as the laws regarding rifles of this type. Several models are available to look at and will be used for demonstration in the classroom... and one can be provided for use on the range if you dont own an AR yet and just want to learn how to shoot one. After lunch, we head out to the range and zero your rifle... and see if you can hit a steel plate at 200 yards. The course length is approximately 6 hours and the cost is $150. If youre a new AR owner or if you've had one sitting in your safe for a while, come out and learn more about it. For registration info, go to www.gappnj.com and look at our upcoming courses. The class size is limited so register soon.
  2. These classes have been booking up quickly and I will more than likely be closing the May 5 class soon. If you're waiting to register (or on the waiting list for my February 12 class) register soon or you may not get a slot.
  3. GAPP has teamed up with several instructors and we will now be offering NRA Basic Courses. In addition to the courses we already offer, we will now be adding NRA Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, Basic Shotgun, Reloading, and Home Firearm Safety (for non-shooting people that want to become familiar with firearms). We will be offering these classes on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. Our first offering as NRA Basic Pistol on February 26, 2012 at Fort Dix Range 14. Anyone interested should check out: http://gappnj.com/nra_basic_courses/basic_pistol
  4. djg... you can always not register if youre that unsure of the class and Nicks qualifications to teach it.
  5. GAPP has two more CCW classes coming up. These will be held at Phillipsburg Pistol Club on March 31 and at Buckeye Gun Club in Barnegat on May 5, 2012. The class we are running at Fort Dix in February has been filled for several weeks and this two classes are already starting to fill up so don't wait to register. Florida and Utah are the most sought after permits in the nation because they are the most widely recognized. We provide all services necessary to get a concealed carry permit in both UT and FL including the applications, envelopes, passport photos, finger prints, notary seal, and UT CFP instructor seal... pretty much one stop shopping to get your CCW in multiple states. We also help you fill in the application so it wont be returned for being completed improperly. For a full course description, registration information, and other class dates, go to www.gappnj.com.
  6. Im in... I may be able to get a classroom very, very cheap (if not free). Ill text you tomorrow Nick and we'll talk

  8. Im not opposed to a day off... let me know when you two are doing it and Ill see if I can make it.
  9. Nick... when are you taking Jeffs BUG class? Im up for it if Im free.
  10. I would be interested in that Nick... let me know when youre going to put something together.

I should really write these things down. 12. This class just sold out today... there are more dates listed on my website. www.gappnj.com
  13. I have trained with 4 of the 8 mentioned instructors (some in NJ, some much, much further away). I dont regret the driving I did to learn from them... you cant replace good training, even with a coupon.
  14. Thanks for the heads up Joel. The conference is a great two days of training... I trained with my handgun, AR, AK, and unarmed self defense in 2 and 4 hour blocks all with nationally (and some internationally) known trainers. if I can move some things around, Ill be going to this conference as well. On day one, I had the opportunity to shoot my personal protection gun and ammunition into ballistic gel. At the time, my carry gun is a Kimber Ultra Carry chambered in 9mm and I carried two types of ammunition.... Federal Expanding Full Metal Jacket in one mag and Corbon Powerball in another. The test mimiced the standard FBI ballistic test (10 feet away through 4 layers of denim) and it was a real eye opener for me. My first shot was Federal EFMJ and I was very disappointed in the results... 20 inches of penetration and vertually no expansion of the bullet head. My second shot was Corbon Powerball and I was happy to see it performed exactly how a personal protection round should... just over 13 inches of penetration with full expansion of the bullet. If you look on the link Joel supplied http://byrong.com/MATC2010/ the two bullets in the bottom picture are mine and its easy to tell which is which. Joel and I talked about the test on the ride home and we think the poor performance of the Federal EFMJ was due to the short barrel length (3.125 inches on the Kimber Ultra Carry)... the round was probably designed to be fired from a full size barrel. Lesson learned the easy way on part... I carry Powerball exclusively now.
  15. Deni, there are no prerequisites... you just need a functioning, NJ legal firearm, eye and ear protection, and lunch for the class. We provide everything else. Loon and Free.. look forward to seeing you there.
  16. GAPP has another CCW class coming up. This one will be held at Fort Dix Range 14 on February 12, 2012. The last class we ran at this location filled quickly and I have answered many phone calls about dates for my next class so don't wait to register.
  17. Yeah, I just scheduled a class for February 12 at Fort Dix. Look on my web page for registration and more information. www.gappnj.com
  18. Im originally from sussex county....and Im not a retired hippie.... so I guess Im a redneck. I probably should be offended.... but I really cant argue.
  19. Joel, Im not sure when Ill run another one at Buckeye... probably March or April.
  20. Utah you need a class given by a UT CFP instructor... and you still need to get your fingerprints, passport photos, and notary service for FL. We provide everything you need for both permits right there in class. Nick, Ill be posting another class soon... probably late January or February. Check my website or keep your eye posted here, Im sure Ill post it up.
  21. Glad you enjoyed the class... hope to see you again soon.
  22. Ill more than likely run one in February (everyone is preoccupied with the holidays in Dec and Jan). Ill post the course up here but you can also look at my website www.gappnj.com for upcoming courses.
  23. It could be whats called a "shotgun headache." Law enforcement trainers realized long ago that they needed to limit the amount of high brass rounds to 50 per day because students got headaches from the repeated heavy recoil. Try changing your ammo to low brass or use a semi-auto like a benelli that will absorb some of the recoil.
  24. But what about form 4473? Doesnt that state whether the gun is a pistol or a rifle at the original purchase of the lower? If the lower is built as a pistol but it was bought as a rifle, wont it be considered a short barrel rifle?
  25. Not in this class. There are no prerequisites to attend this class and I wont rely on someone having the necessary skills for holstering safely. The number one rule always applies for firearm safety whether its loaded or unloaded, always point the muzzle in a safe direction... and I will send someone home for a safety infraction. Allowing untrained people the opportunity to use a holster is just setting them up for failure and a trip home without a certificate. Whether you want to use a holster for convenience or safety, trust that the course of fire I have laid out and the range set up is very appropriate for this class
