  1. I didn't catch the earlier portion of the show, but did see the interview w/Ted. It was hard to tell, but was that a M&P 15-22 that was being "rapid fired" by Piers? It seemed to have next to no recoil if it was a .223...
  2. These anti reporters are fishing for an answer that they want to hear... and Christie's not giving it.
  3. Although he is using the "clip" misnomer now, he is sticking it to the reporter re: magazine capacity limits.
  4. There will be public hearings announced, he just mentioned
  5. I'm surprised that he mentioned going after the OH shop owner, and nothing about the straw purchaser...
  6. Christie (in response to pressure from organizations): "I'm a big boy."
  7. He's giving his opening monologue now - and while mentioning the laws, mentioned something about us having a "7-day waiting period." Aside from when NICS was "down" around Christmastime (and possibly still now), apparently even the Governor is unfamiliar with the laws...
  8. So this is how liberty dies..... with thunderous applause... I'm so nauseous after this
  9. I just read this and became even more sick to my stomach than I've already been... http://madison.patch.com/articles/federal-gun-laws-should-mirror-nj-s-council-says I don't seem to see this posted elsewhere... if so, sorry for the duplicate post.
  10. My wife subscribed simply to get the Sunday coupons and circulars. The rest of the paper goes straight to the new puppy... for housebreaking...
  11. Also clear out your Adobe Flash cookies - separate from the cookies your browser attempts to store. I forget offhand how to do it manually, but there are articles out there that illustrate how. If you are on a Mac, the app PrivacyScan has this as one of its options.
  12. Been a while since I checked up on the forums, but I appreciate all of the response! So here's the question now - judging from the responses, using these types of rounds in a pistol is a no-no. What about semi-auto .22LR rifles? My FID change of address is finally ready, and am in the market for a .22LR rifle. (torn between a GSG-522 or a S&W MP variant in .22LR, on a side note...)
  13. I might have to find time to go in person and find out what's going on. HavocMan - yes, my wife and I changed units back in March. I moved to the township in October when we got married, and received the FID change of address in about 2 months' time, which would lead me to believe that my old town's PD sent the records over back then. I'm trying to get hold of the secretary today; however, I have the feeling that this may be her day off.
  14. Hi there, So I'm going on now into my third month waiting for my change of address on my FID - same street address in the township, but from one apartment number to the new number. (after all... this address has to match that of the DL... joy) I called today to find out the status, and I was told that processing was still delayed due to the following three reasons: 1) one of my reference letters did not come back (nonsense - I know for a fact this person sent it back) 2) mental health results not yet back from county (genuinely possible - this is Essex County) 3) they need to receive my records from my former township's PD #1 can be easily rectified, #2 unfortunately I can understand.... but has anyone ever heard about records from one township needing to be transferred? The odd thing about all of this is that I was issued my initial change of address with no problems when I first moved to the township. I'm starting to think that #3 above stinks a little like Number 2...
  15. Thanks EBS - makes a little more sense now. I actually found the kit for the 92FS (finally) about a year ago. The CCI Mini-Mags (high velocity) I've run through that are fine. It's the Velocitors (1435 fps) and Stingers (1640 fps) where I was concerned about damage. Most .22LR rifles should be able to handle these though, correct?
  16. So I have a fair amount of CCI Stingers and Velocitors that have yet to see the light of day - I have yet to purchase a .22LR rifle (still waiting for an address change on FID). But moreso it's the fact that I had read a couple of years ago on another forum that excessive use of these hypervelocity rounds in various pistols could cause undue wear on the slide - possibly even slide breakage. Is there any truth to this? I want to test with the Buckmark - maybe even with the 92FS Practice Kit - but wouldn't want to cause any avoidable damage to the firearms.
  17. Thanks for the update (and words of encouragement) - I'll be sure to update the process here. As a bunch of you mentioned, an address change ideally shouldn't take too long... however, this is NJ we're talking about after all... Sorry for the delayed reply, still in the packing/moving state of mind at the moment.
  18. Lovely. Definitely a case for holding onto the old FID until the new one comes... for transport and ammo purchases.
  19. So in a few short weeks, I'll have nearly officially completed the migration northward into Essex County - I'll be doing daily battle with the fiancee as to who gets to use the bathroom first... That said, I believe I need to submit an address change to DMV on my license first before I apply for the address change on the FID (I believe the two have to match - correct me if I'm mistaken), as my guns are coming with me. For those of you already living in West Orange, how is the WOPD regarding turnaround time for FIDs (change of address, in particular) and pistol purchase permits? Do they require re-printing (with Livescan)? Just want to know ahead of time what I should expect - thanks!!
  20. Seems like the real deal has come upon us (although not quite certain when this came to production): http://www.hk22rimfire.com/index.php?page=mp5-a5 Does anyone know whether getting the adjustable stock pinned (along with the 10 rd mag) would make this NJ compliant, or is it officially banned here because it simply bears the name "MP5" in its model number? (like its NJ-orphaned big brother in 9mm) I know the GSG-5 is apparently legal (probably due to the one-piece fixed stock). However, I heard something about H&K wanting it off the market since the "official" version is in production. Anyone know??
  21. After reading posts here since time immemorial, for some reason I decided to come out of the woodwork and say hello! Lived here since the late 80's - although I may be transplanted to Essex County sometime this year, my fiancee currently lives up there and we're now in the midst of the whole "living arrangements" talk. Currently have a good rapport with our local PD (graduated high school with several OTJs) and our detective who handles FIDs/permits, so it's going to be rough starting over with the new PD when the move-in officially happens. That said, I'll actually have to plan trips to the range ahead of time - although might not be so bad, I'll get out of being dragged along on horrid shopping trips. I'm currently a member of CRRC in West Windsor, although I haven't gotten down there since the fall. Getting stuck on the filthy NJ Transit every day until late evening kinda makes you want to do absolutely nothing once you get home. But our office is closed this Monday, I think I may head down there then. I also get out to Fort Dix with my brother (he is a member of the public range there) when the weather gets nicer. He prefers the rifle ranges there, although he insists on getting there at the crack o' dawn to secure a good amount of range time. Aside from the Bullet Hole (in Belleville), anybody know of any other ranges in the greater Essex County area? That's about it for now... love this board and the members here
