  1. Since Feb, Cabela's execs have said no more stores in 2011 due to "timing". Any contract that Cabela's was locked into have probably become null and void since the whole project tanked. In the slim chance that Cabela's did open, it wouldn't resemble the PA location at all. It will probably resemble a Dick's more. Slim chance of all the endless racks of goodies. They still considering to charge $15 to any shopper looking to park?
  2. Very doubtful Cabela's will open there. I think this was discussed before with an actual statement from Cabela's.
  3. I was at Meltzers the other day looking for a recoil pad. They referred me to a gunsmith behind the store. I went around back to a small alley and found a door that said "Gunsmith...not here today, will be in tomorrow." I went back to my car and someone leaving the store said he is a great guy but open weird hours. He usually has some really old rifles selling for dirt cheap. Anybody ever been inside or has any experience?
  4. Garand Guy backs up his rifles 100%. Never had a problem with mine but heard of people going back to him with issues and getting them fixed ASAP and no charge.
  5. No problem. I will let you know if I see one locally as a few shops here carry used parts.
  6. Yeah, it was a close one! You want to borrow it?? I don't even have my Hunter's Licensing yet. Send me a PM.
  7. Good info! Just found out that I can pick up a packet from Meltzer's and start the process. I will be trying not to buy anything while I am there. Hopefully in a year I will be looking at a turkey on my dinner table.
  8. Haha. I love that guy. He mixes pickle juice, matzoh meal and gefilte together.
  9. Very true. Just did some research and read on NCJRS that about 2/3 of the burglaries in the US are somehow drug related. Also make sure the ammo you consider firing is commercial and not some "custom home made deadly reload of your own concoction designed for the only purpose of killing burglars."
  10. I would assume the rack of a shotgun breaking the midnight silence should deter anyone.
  11. Video of my Wife's cousin making fun of her Grandpa, Tzada (Boris Yeltzin).
  12. Bummer. So I should start the process to get my license then. Where do you go to hunt pheasant?
  13. I have been recently becoming more and more interested in hunting small game. Do I need a hunting license to go with one of the groups off Craigslist where I pay for the day and get a guide? How about going with a friend that has their license, still need my own if I want to carry a shotgun along? I am interested in hunting goose, pheasant, Turkey and maybe deer (after I tag along on another hunt). I know there is tons of info but it is confusing. I read a lot online but still had these questions. -Thanks!!
  14. Holy crap. Thank you so much for letting me know!!!
  15. I have the week off and figured I will go to SARCO on wednesday. I am looking for an old double barrel. Preferably a side by side. Not my favorite place but they have some cool stuff. Anybody want me to pick up a few Mosins for them?
  16. Is this the one in Fairfield? I heard mixed reviews but would feel more comfortable in a small group. It is right down the street from my job. I shoot clay pigeons at Sunset Hill. Bring your own shotgun and ammo and they provide all the clays and you throw the clays yourself. I probably went through 3 cases last time I was there.
  17. Took me about 3 months total. So far with each permit to purchase, there has been some mix up resulting in delays. Frusturating to say the least.
  18. The thing that is bothering me is that I was in the area. If only I decided to stop by! Then I start having fantasies of showing up (and of course we all have CCWs in my fantasy)....
  19. Very true. Bad thing is that she sometimes parks her car down the street and walks home for excercise. Then, it looks like she is not home. I put in a few cheap door chimes for her.
  20. Well, my Wife's house in Little Ferry was broken into the other night. Her mother lives there and left around noon. She came home at 9:30pm and opened the door only to find the door frame on the floor. They cut the phone lines before entering. The busted the front door and ransacked a closet, flipped her bed over and found two rings in a drawer. One was fake, ironically. They passed up two laptops during their visit as well as all of our wedding gifts piled in an office. All the jewelery is in a very conspicous place so it wasn't a surprise they missed it. Po po came and dusted for prints. Found that they were wearing gloves. They found the same type of break in weeks earlier a few houses down the street.
  21. An old employee of mine was bit by a recluse about 2 inches below his butt cheek. His wife wouldn't clean it out after the doctor cut out the dead tissue so I was volunteered. Amazing how much tissue damage occured. I was able to stuff in about 3 or 4 feet of sterile packing.
  22. And yes, gold is way too much money for the casual investor. Palladium would be the next step above silver.
  23. Well, I have been investing in silver for some time now. It actually went up over $21 a TO a few days ago. The usual guy I go to is all out. After over spot costs, I pay about $25 an oz. After I hit certain milestones, I sell all loose oz bars and purchase a 10 oz or larger. You usually save a few bucks when the ingot is heavier. I tried this with gold and spent more money seeing less return playing the market. The oz bars I buy are to keep on hand. I also have some bullion in a NY brokerage bank where I can buy and sell in real time. Pretty fun.
  24. Just picked it up today. Needs some wiring and brake work. I am thinking after a few weekends, it should be on the road.
