  1. .410 is anemic.. is it better than nothing? sure... the problem with .410 is pretty simple in just looking at a few gel tests.. it lacks the energy and penetration to make it a as good as some other choices... its no more complex than that... when you view gel tests on things like 12 gauge or 5.56 for example.. you will see deep penetration.. very large temporary wound cavity... and lot of energy being dumped into the target... the exact things you want to see when trying to stop a criminal... when you watch 410 you will see a substantial reduction.. its not a bad SD round because someone says it is.. its a bad SD round simply because of the way it impacts the target.. in looking at several tests.. I think if you go with 410 the ammo choice is really critical.. in fairness this is out of a pistol..
  2. They had a protest in Pittsburgh today.. I could not go it was not possible.. but January 30 degrees out.. they had pretty decent turnout..
  3. Here is the reason: "PA LTCF covers "firearms" statewide. An SBR is is a PA defined "firearm" due to its measurements(barrel or overall)."
  4. SBR satisfies PA carry requirements.. so yup... loaded in the front seat loaded in a backpack no problem.. I will post more information later
  5. I think there are partial truths here.. I have seen incidents where the attacker did not just run.. and the "good guy" was in a "shoot out"... couple that with some type of active shooter situation.. where the perpetrator has a carbine or something... and things could be really difficult quickly.. lots of running screaming innocent people.. lots of shots in your direction.. lots of confusion.. and yes you are right. completely right.. the likelihood of that happening in your lifetime.. almost 0.. but eh.. you never know.. and some training from a qualified school would not hurt your chances of survival..
  6. you can get the same immersive experience while simulating actually being shot at with simunitions.. there is no value at all for ANY level of shooter to engage in that.. guns misfire.. rounds go off course.. people trip.. even if you do your part.. 100% you could still shoot and kill someone.. I used to dismiss activities like that as being not that big of a deal.. typically the round goes where you put it.. but in retrospect I was wrong.. because the key word to that is typically.. even if just one person is hurt or injured.. its an unnecessary loss..
  7. you know I thought about this more.. and I think the main reason I built this gun.. was because its almost everything I could never have in NJ.. the ability to walk around with a SBR in a backpack with a 30 round mag.. the only thing missing IS a suppressor.. lol
  8. I had an Aimpoint T1 and no fault to Aimpoint because its clearly my eyes.. but it looked like a burning comment failing to the earth.. LOL
  9. I remember you saying that.. and it was definitely concerning... but I have had 0 issues with mine so far... I actually have two.. I wanted to use a RMR but I could not get the right setup in reticle and power.. I really wanted a powered green triangle RMR but that doesn't exist..
  10. I like it a lot.. it is the triangle reticle.. tip is 0 at 50 yards so I have a couple options when shooting Center Mass: just put the triangle center mass and shots are a hit Precise: use the point of the triangle its fast.. and wide open.. which I like more than the Aimpoint and Eotech... which are both great optics.. I just prefer this.. it also is more clear to me (I think I have an astigmatism)
  11. its up there cost wise.. but I look at it in the sense that I only own a few guns.. so while my spend per gun may be higher than some people.. my total gun investment across all guns owned is low to moderate.. ty
  12. Made some changes to my SBR.. pretty happy with the outcome.. 13. I had actually considered going there.. the thing that irks me is this.. there was another response that fell in-between the initial video... and the public walking back of it being acceptable.. This video was shortly after the initial pushback over the practice.. where everything is dismissed as somehow being OK.. it wasn't until people got more and more fired up about it that they came out with the statement posted above.. If the class runs under your group.. what happens there is your responsibility.. IMO..
  14. only 1.35... I am more thinking the solution is a suppressor that attaches to a muzzle device.. its a 7.5in barrel with a 7in hand guard.. so in theory if I had a muzzle device that uses .5in to attach to rail.. and then the suppressor attached past that... I think I would be fine..
  15. I want to avoid that because with the length now it fits in my backpack and I carry it some times..
  16. I built the 7.5in with the hopes of suppressing it one day.. but my another concern is clearing the handgaurd.. I am not sure what suppressor I could use that would work.. 7in handgaurd 7.5in barrel.. so it is like right there..
  17. well if I ever don't need a stamp for a suppressor I will consider it.. the thing I hate about the concept of buying NFA as opposed to building.. is NFA "jail" plus I plan to file two more short barrel stamps... for what its worth I was able to clean the remnants of the carpet off with the baking torch.. I just had to heat it up a little more and it was able to be wiped off... so good to go..
  18. I don't think I can even suppress a 7.5in 5.56 gun... I think it would melt the suppressor.. thanks for all the other feedback... tried a heat gun and baking torch.. neither did anything..
  19. so like 6 or so mags in on my SBR which is basically a flame thrower.. I sit the gun down on the bench.. the thoughtful owners of the range put carpet on most of the bench tops so gun can be set down without being scratched... my muzzle device which was basically as hot as the surface of the sun immediately fused to said carpet... adhering itself permanently.. I THINK it will burn off maybe? if I run enough ammo though it.. but I can't clean it off.. its on there too good.. charred carpet.. so just wondering if there are any good close quarter type muzzle devices.. looking for the whole push the blast forward type devices since the barrel is so short.. device is also really close to the light and edge of rail.. I don't have a ton of room there.. whats the cool thing these days?

    AR sling

I only run a single point on really really small guns.. one gun actually.. my AK pistol.. the barrel has to be short enough that it is not whacking you when you move quickly..

    AR sling

I can help you feel comfortable with 2 point.. next time at the range work up your heart rate a little.. run your rifle mag till empty.. then drop your long gun so its hanging just by the sling.. transition to your handgun.. now sprint as fast as you can.. you are welcome..
  22. crazy talk.. my trigger alone was like $200.. plus the rest of the parts.. stock.. etc..
  23. If you knew NOTHING about guns.. were told by a prosecutor the legal standing is “can the gun accept a detachable magazine” and you were then shown a detachable magazine going into the gun.. if you being a reasonable person knew nothing about guns.. were not interested in them.. etc.. would you not accept that you just saw something that fell under the scope of the law?
  24. This is an assumption on my part.. but the reason the wording was chosen was a result of the intention.. The intention was to ban as many “scary” “evil” “military looking” guns as possible.. it is absolutely a stretch.. but what it’s not is a departure from the wording.. could a prosecutor stand in front of a court and say “this is an assault rifle because... detachable magazine.. *insert demo of him putting the mag in*... “ And would a courtroom full of people impartial or outright against guns agree with that? would a normal reasonable person that knows little about guns.. agree that the gun presented in front of them accepts a detachable magazine.. my concern is they would accept that...
