  1. So I just got an email from the guys at CZ-USA, and they tell me they're just going to replace my 75B SP-01 which I returned because the polycoat finish had started to peel off (it isn't supposed to peel off). When I inquired further, I find out they're going to send me a new piece...with a different serial number. What am I supposed to do in this case....am I supposed to have it shipped to an FFL, and use up another permit (of which I have none...still waiting on Bayonne PD to get off their asses...2 1/2 months and counting) or can I have the permit for the defective gun transferred to the new gun....???
  2. That's what happens when you send the Army to do the Navy's job...
  3. Thanks for the info guys. I did find a thread on this subject, but it was kind of old, that's why I posed the question...wanted to make sure nothing had changed since.
  4. I think these lawsuits (NJ, HI, etc.) just strengthen the case for a national constitutional carry legislation that applies the 2A across all 50 states (and the territories) equally. My interpretation of the 2A is that if you can legally purchase a handgun (i.e. you're not a convicted felon), then you should have the right to carry...period.
  5. I just got off the phone with CZ-USA about a an issue (mostly cosmetic) I'm having with my CZ75 SP-01. The polycoat finish has begun bubbling up and peeling off on the side of the frame (see pic). Since it's still under warranty, they gave me an RA# and instructions to ship it back to them via UPS/FEDEX overnight to get it re-finished and they will send it back to me directly. My question is, has anyone else here done this (send a piece back to the factory for repair)? Did you get any issues at the UPS/FEDEX counter? I don't want the brain-dead clerks at the counter to go nuts (aaaah there's a guy with a gun here!) and call the cops or something...
  6. Sound's like "someone" is pissed at us for this:
  7. Yesterday was day 30 for me in Bayonne. 3 PP's. I know my references got their forms and returned them three weeks ago...
  8. If you're on 1st street, then according to the NHC there's a 40 to 50 % chance that you'll see a 3 to 4 foot storm surge (above normal tide levels), and that is from Bayonne's south coast all the way up to 3rd street.
  9. According to one of www.wunderground.com's maps, based on current "estimates", if this thing is as big as they say it will be, the storm surge will push water from the south side of Bayonne all the way up to 7th street. If that is true....he won't need to board his windows...he will need a freakin' boat.
  10. If you believe the talking heads on the weather channel, they're saying you'd have to go at least as far as Altoona to get out of the way of this thing. I'm starting to think this is more hype than anything else...
  11. Yes it is...we got the recorded phone message from the mayor's office "recommending" that we evacuate. Still deciding if we stick it out or we pack up the van and head out to West PA...Pittsburgh?
  12. New Jersey Statutes Title 2C The New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice 2C:58-3 Purchase of firearms. f. Granting of permit or identification card; fee; term; renewal; revocation. The application for the permit to purchase a handgun together with a fee of $2, or the application for the firearms purchaser identification card together with a fee of $5, shall be delivered or forwarded to the licensing authority who shall investigate the same and, unless good cause for the denial thereof appears, shall grant the permit or the identification card, or both, if application has been made therefor, within 30 days from the date of receipt of the application for residents of this State and within 45 days for nonresident applicants. I'm no lawyer, but I can read and I'd say it's a law, and not a guideline...
  13. The LAW says 30 days.....the town doesn't give a **** about the law and takes however long they want...
  14. If its anything like the last set of permits...I probably have another 5 weeks to go...
  15. ...I wonder how much longer I'll have to wait. Funny how they strictly enforce the whole OGAM thing, but could give a rat's a** about the 30-day period for getting the permits completed.
  16. I have an Uncle Mike's Deluxe Range Bag. Very nice bag. Has room for several handguns, mags, ammo, eyes/ears, etc.
  17. Well, the 11 PM forecast track is now way east of the 5 PM one. It now shows Irene coming ashore at Rockaway Beach in Queens. Let's hope this thing keeps moving east... We'll have to see what the forecast track is at 5 AM tomorrow morning.
  18. Right now the plan is for me (and my guns) to be nice and dry somewhere in west PA...
  19. I just checked the 5 pm forecast, now they've moved the track further west, with the eye of the storm passing directly THROUGH BAYONNE (if you zoom the map far enough, the "line" is like 50 feet from the street I live on ) I'm thinking we're just gonna pack up the van and start driving west and get as far away as possible ... (I live right near the river, so I know we're gonna get major flooding if this thing goes the way they say).
  20. Dude, I've been through SEVEN hurricanes...it's best to be prepared for them, than not to be prepared. The declaration of a state of emergency is just a necessary thing to get all the appropriate agencies up and running and in some cases to release funding in case this thing does hit us head on. I was in Puerto Rico for Hurricane Hugo, and the local govt. down there was a f'ng disaster...we went 21 days without power and nearly a month without running water. I'd rather Christie get everything ready in the face of a "possible" emergency, than to sit on his (fat) a** and do nothing...or worse go play golf like the jackass-in-chief.
  21. ....on the bright side...maybe Irene will finally rip the roof off from the Bayonne range and they'll finally have to fix it!
  22. According to the 11 AM forecast track....this is gonna SUCK for those of us in Bayonne.
  23. Depends on the building code....down in Florida all new construction since Andrew required windows to be able to resist 120 mph winds. The problem is not necessarily the wind, but the crap that starts flying around....a 30 mph wind is enough to pick up debris and slam it through windows rather easily.
  24. I've been through four storms in Puerto Rico (Hugo, Marilyn, Hortense, Georges) and three storms in Florida (Charley, Frances, Jeanne), but I never thought I'd be facing a hurricane in Jersey. I guess Irene thinks otherwise... Alaska is looking real nice right about now...
