  1. So my current job my hours are consistent 60 hours a week. while i love jersey (being out in the stix) i have come to realize a 1.5 hour drive is murder, especially when your shift starts at 6:30 and usually is not over till 8mp(some times longer). I tend to drive up there 5-6 days a week and have started looking on the other side of the river, the job is based in Philly right off I-95. Part of the problem is the drive the other is the fuel and tolls (about 900 a month on a monthly basis), i am almost to the point where i can live over there and gain back 3 hours a day of my life. I have been looking at New Town square, but i still fear loosing my gun collection because even with a gun safe, if your out of the house almost every day for 10-15 hours a day who is going to be watching. Next on the list if where to go shooting as my current job does have a nice requirement for shooting as well. While i will miss Telco and Jersey it is almost becoming unforeseeable to live here and work there, the drive and the traffic, and the tolls and fuel are just getting to me.
  2. i had the Garand out, loaded up with some SP's. athough i think it was more for the looks because we had no incidents here.
  3. if not, telco has one on the 18th of September, if you need more practice.
  4. i recently ran into a guy who bought a few, apparently a few gun shops are selling blocked magazines, i called the state police and the firearms unit guy 9for my area who we are on a good named basis now), stated that if you can remove the pin, and the block then it can be high capacity. he said the only "legal" way to stay safe is to literally either 1 buy them and cut them up to make 15'rds or 2 just buy 15rd's and be completely safe.
  5. Guys i'll be there tomorrow. Just to let you all know they do have a food area you can buy hot dogs hamburgers and chili etic.
  6. Hey Guys, I though I'de post up about Monday Night Trap night. Telco Sportsman's Club is a closed range(members only), but we are open Monday nights for those interesting in shooting trap. It can become competitive especially when all of the skilled shooters are on the line, but no one busts anyone's stones if you you go. It is a modern trap house facility, with lights concrete deck, and a fun atmosphere, you will always find friendly people to talk to. it is an electrical trap thrower and throws the clays out in any direction, (so you do have a real challenge not a clay flies in the same direction game) I go, and i do drive a ways to get there because i have found that Telco is just about shooting and chatting, there are no clicks here, and well where i live there is nothing but cliks so its nice to be able to fit right in. And if you have trouble feel free to ask any of the guys at the counter, they usually can come right out and give pointers as well. The cost is 4 dollars per squad(that is 25 rounds) Shooting starts at 6pm and runs till they run out of people wanting to shoot. Directions: Take Jackson road to Atco Raceway, when you get by the Gate #2 sign you will see a road on the Opposite side of the raceway, then turn on that road, then make your first left, and the the first right Telco will be on your left. Mods: if this is not the right section feel free to move it, i felt this was the right one being it is a fun shoot.
  7. Welcome ! I saw the thread and knew exactly where you most likely got stuck, i didn't have a GPS, and missed the first left off the main road by atco raceway. Anyways welcome to Telco, i have been there for two years now and have to report that i have yet to find a better place, its always quiet, never busy and best of all everyone is friendly.
  8. this is why i like going to telco, you never hear anything "political" there, now as for some other ranges i have been at.....
  9. i was in with a magazine buy on one of my other forums till they said they don't have 15rd's and instead would send the 20 rounders, i asked about it and the company said it was legal. However i would rather play it safe, because you never know, hell if the state police can't give you advice who can? Im sure Nappin could but i won't flip 1,000 dollars to find out i can buy a car load of 15rounders for my M-14 for that price. Bottom line is better to be safe then sorry, i would hate to go to jail for 10 years and lose my rights to any firearm because i bought a parts kit that some company said was legal as it was dissembled.
  10. so, if someone comes into your house, and you are upstairs and he is coming up the stairs and pulls out what looks like a knife (or say a handgun), you demand surrender and he says no then you have the right ti use deadly force. but what if he pulls out what you think is the knife and there is nothing there then you are at fault. given the first scenario then you should shoot him when he pulls the knife or gun and then shoot to kill or shoot to wound. If the above is correct then it is completely possible for the criminal to sue you if he is injured during the robbery, such as in what i heard. And quote Now that was the jist, but the indepth story was that the first one (the one that died) produced a handgun, and the homeowner has reasonable though to think both were armed, the fact he blew the second guy away a mere five or 6 feet from the window as he hit the second guy from the side. As such the homeowner was using excessive deadly force against an unarmed robber who claimed he agreed to surrender, but was shot anywyas.
  11. could you post a link to the law when you get a chance?
  12. hey its all stories i have heard, i can't vouch for their integrity, its all "my neighbor hear that joe down the road etic.
  13. i was at the range and heard the story of another guy at the range tell us how his neighbor was sued for shooting two intruders, the one died, the other one didn't, instead he fell out window of the house, cut his Achilles tendon, and ended up suing the homeowner for everything he had, because now he was a cripple. Hear another story by where i live of a guy who shot two crack heads who were trying to steal jewelry in his house, and it took the stateies 4 hours to get to his house, and he called multiple times as well. And in the end the statie said to him, "look we wanted to make sure they were dead, and long gone dead, it makes life easier for everyone, and no a word else was said. apparently one of the two had a pistol and attempted to draw it, against a 12 ga with buck shot. For me i don't know what i would do in such a situation, (i do believe it has alot to do with what is happening at the time, what time of the day and what is going on) because it seems either way your screwed. If you let him take your computer you risk the loss of personal and professional data, and Identity theft possibility, and if you shoot him well you are guilt until proven innocent.
  14. So i was talking to a retired officer today who was at the restaurant i was at, and the topic of guns came up, and he asked me what the gun laws are like now, and i explain them, and then went on how i would like to own a M1 Carbine, but its 9illegal, and he said it is not if you get an Assault weapons permit. Now i have never heard of this so called "permit" can anyone shed some light on its existence, or is this a myth? He said back in the day (he said he retired in 1993), that you could apply for a permit to own assault weapons, and that to qualify you needed to be able to get a handgun permit. but i went on to ask him questions about the application process and he said he was "not exactly sure" but said it was a form you could fill out.
  15. lol, sounds like when i went for my FID, i called them and on day 45 asked if my paperwork was done, and they said "the cheif of state police is on vacation and has to sign off on it., ok i said. I forgot about it for another 20 days and then called up and asked if the cheif was back, then it was "waiting on information from Washington" then i waited another 30 days and said, hekllo is my card done, i spoke to edwin nappin, and then bam! it was done, go figure!
  16. NO, it cannot have a pistol grip or a folding stock, the flash suppressor doesn't have to be pinned, but you cannot have a bayonet lug!
  17. i bought a Yugo sks from AIM, it is jersey legal, check out my sig for other jersey legal weapons.
  18. SO am i reading this correctly, why is my M1A not pinned, or welded?
  19. Yea, both must match, i had issues and still do because my FID says the township i live in, and not the town, and a result every time i have to get something added to my license i have an ordeal to deal with, but it must match. and to the guys question why, i was told because if your address changes, you must get an amended card with a new address on it, hense forth must be the same.
  20. Mine looks just like the pictured one, the barrel was bright and clean, and the whole rifle got a bath of cosmo. I will post up pictures in a day or so. I decided since this rifle is so clean and (for all i know looks like it was made last year) that i won't be firing any corrosive surplus through it. I leave corrosive for my collection of bolt guns, well just my Yugo M-48 that is, i don't touch the GI 98K, but i also shoot NC through that and the other German i have.
  21. From what i can tell the magazine can't be removed, and thus be fixed it would be legal, but im not 100% sure, so i was wondering if other people have bought them could give me some ideas.
  22. So i picked up one of those SKS's from AIM, this one here http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F3YugoSKS&name=Yugoslavian+SKS+7.62x39+Rifle&groupid=254 I received it today, and it doesn't appear to be detachable, am i completely legal? The guy at the shop said that if it is not legal then the staties will be around to pick it up.
