  1. A coworker of mine who knows I'm into firearms asked me today what parts of the gun defines it as a gun. I wasn't sure what he meant but he said "Well if you replace the barrel is it the same gun"? I responded yes. In that case if you replaced the frame with the serial number it technically makes it a different gun (at least that's what I think please correct me if I am wrong). He proceeded to ask well what if I decided to build my own gun? He went on to say he was thinking about buying a cnc machine to start making his own firearms. Is this even legal?
  2. He has the money for his on personal army, so he doesn't need them so why should you? That's the mentality.
  3. Yes. It's sad that the media thrives on this
  4. This truly awful. I'm normally not a conspiracy theorist but forget Ramadan... Obama has killed people for his agenda before (fast and furious). Could the next victims have succumbed to getting the AT&T through. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families. Pure tragedy.
  5. The area I live in is not a bad area however as someone said above the economy is causing some more criminal activity. I currently rent and can't make many mods to secure us more. By the beginning of next year we'll have our own place to do what we choose.
  6. My wife and I were talking about carrying concealed in the house and whether it's worth it with our children around. Just looking for opinions on the subject.
  7. They don't make 'em like that anymore! Congrats to you on the new toy and kudos to DamnjanBlues
  8. Winchester White Box. I picked up some Federal Champion so I'll be trying that this weekend. After that I think I will be using Speer Lawman as my standard range ammo. I hear its great stuff for the price. You'll love the G19 man. Its so fun. I have a Ruger SR22P. I couldnt believe how much more accurate I am with the Glock. Enjoy it bro!
  9. Congrats man! I just picked up the G19 Gen 4 about a month ago. WELL WORTH IT! Enjoy!
  10. I understand that, but what if somehow they found it? Then you would be a felon. I don't agree with it at all. I just would rather not be a criminal.
  11. Yeah but then you would have been a criminal if they found out. My guess is this was them being a bunch of jerks. I am not sure this type of stuff comes up on the Mental Health background check. I think that is for if someone was committed. So that probably came back clean but because you said you have visited a shrink they just write you off. I can sympathize with you on financial side of fighting it because I was contemplating the same if they denied me. This wouldn't even be an issue if this state wasn't such a constitution hater.
  12. I actually lived through this. I think this depends on the PD. I went through a 4 or 5 years stint with seeing a psych and was on anti depressants. I chose to do that to STAY healthy. My marriage was tanking for years, then i found out she was cheating. in that single year, I found that out, filed for divorce, lost my mother to cancer, filed bankruptcy and lost my house (due to the divorce) and lost my job (thank god I found a new one within a few months). I was candid with the police and gave all my doctor info and encouraged them to call. I actually wrote a letter and attached it to my FID app. I actually assumed I was going to be denied. I indeed was not. However I would rather have been denied for telling the truth then lying and committing a crime. It is true someone said above its just another reason to deny someone, but I'd rather tell the truth. I know this doesn't answer your question, but I would fight it. I could have let myself sink in deep and bad. Losing my mother, my family, everything I owned except for 12 items, having to start paying $2200 a month in child support and alimony. It was a hard hit. There are more LEO's out there that are more nuts than us that go to a shrink for tough life events. Yet they're allowed to walk the streets daily with a weapon. Sometimes I think folks on this forum are quick to judge in these situations just as the PD's sometimes are. It all comes down to circumstances. I am healthy, I haven't saw a shrink or been on meds for a few years now and life is really good.
  13. The family and I were at Bradley Beach waiting for fireworks enjoying the beach. We saw it coming from the distance. We got out of the water, ate our packed dinner on the beach just in time to pack up and head to the car. Got to the car in the nick of time. Waited it out and went back on the beach to watch the fireworks :-). Electric went out back at home. Also went out again in the middle of the night though I didn't hear a drop of rain or thunder while awake. Electric came back on and hour and a half later.
  14. Go with the Gen 4. I haven't had any issues since the first outing. I love it
  15. I have the Gen 4. I shot another 100 rounds of the winchester white box. I bought some federal champion from Walmart so I'll let you know how that flies.
  16. I do have a Ruger SR22 for cheap shooting. I do understand I will be able to hold the same frame with the conversion kit but I couldn't justify the purchase especially after spending almost a grand on guns in the last 3 months LOL.
  17. That's a good question. I was aware of the issue because I did a ton of research. I also know its with weaker ammo. To me that is not a "reliability" issue. I read nothing other than how great this gun is outside of that issue. In a HD scenario am I really going to care if a casing hits my head? No. Chances are it won't be an issue using hotter cleaner higher quality ammo for HD. Conversely, my Ruger SR22 totally launches the casings. Its actually humorous how fast and powerful they eject. They bounce off the wall and hit me at times at the range. I can ask the same question, is it acceptable that the casings hit me because it ejects TOO far? Its a non-issue for me at this point. If I start getting failures that will be a different story.
  18. I'd LOVE too but she doesn't have her FID yet. She is having a hard time finding friends to be references. They want NOTHING to do with firearms. Once we get that squared away she will be on her way and I will buy her whatever she would like!
  19. After having my Glock for almost two weeks I finally got to the range on Saturday to try out my G19. The wife and I went. To my surprise before we went in she gave me my Fathers Day gift. It was a gift certificate for a membership at Shore Shot. I was thrilled! It just got better. We sent about 150 rounds down range and I couldn't have been happier. I did have a few casings to the head with the 115 gr WWB but no failures. I was more accurate with the glock than my ruger sr22. I am ecstatic with the purchase and can't wait to get back to the range.
