  1. I'm leaning towards the Trooper MKIII being they seem to have pretty good reviews as to being a tank of a gun. Do you have any info on the MKIII?
  2. Just received an email from NJ2AS that they have updated the petition wording to match this legislative session for the CCW bills. Looks like it may be the same link we were all checking out before but the wording is now correct! http://www.change.org/petitions/new-jersey-right-to-carry
  3. I've got a lead on a Trooper MKIII 357 for $625 and its in good condition. Need to make my mind up tonight weather or not I am going to buy!
  4. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/02/13/family-asks-judge-to-order-massachusetts-school-district-to-remove-under-god/ This made me sick to read! Best part is that the family is using the name "Doe" to protect their identity sighting their . In my opinion this is another example of people with a minority opinion trying to rule for the rest of us!!! Their challenge is based on the Mass constitutions's guarantee of "equal protection".
  5. I've been looking into buying a Colt revolver. Pretty much anything with a 4" - 8" barrel appeals to me. This is going to be a collector piece that will see range time. It will either be a 357, 38 special, 45 long Colt, or 45 ACP. I have not ruled out the 41's or 44's either. So what is the opinion on Colt's different models? Python, Anaconda, Lawman MKI, II, III, 1909? Definitely want something double action. Gun Broker has some insane prices, anyone have suggestions where to find something in decent shape? I'm going to mention up front that I have nothing against Ruger or S&W. I plan on owning one or more of them as well! I'm fishing for opinions on Colt's only for now!
  6. This is not a valid senate bill number on the petition. S-69 in this legislative session is for texting while driving. S69 Increases fine and imposes license suspension for talking or texting on hand-held device while driving. Law and Public Safety Identical Bill Number: A1080 Last Session Bill Number: S2181 (1R) A3154 Codey, Richard J. as Primary Sponsor Scutari, Nicholas P. as Co-Sponsor Turner, Shirley K. as Co-Sponsor 1/10/2012 Introduced in the Senate, Referred to Senate Law and Public Safety Committee Introduced - 4 pages PDF Format HTML Format
  7. If he had a Florida CCW, isn't there a requirement for the NRA first steps class to get the permit? In my opinion, this is not an accident but rather a careless act.
  8. Has it been pointed out that the senate session number in the currently available online petition is not for CCW this session? I saw earlier up in this thread someone has posted a link to the old petition.
  9. I have been eyeing the Lee kit with a single stage press. Going to start with .45ACP then possibly move onto 9MM luger. I shoot 100- 200 rounds per range session depending on if I take one or two pistols with me, and get out to the range about once a week. My theory for now has been to keep saving the brass from the ammo I have been buying. I already purchased a small tumbler from Harbor Freight, I'm looking for stainless media now. My thinking is to start this with minimal investment and see how I like it before I invest in something like a Dillon press.
  10. Thanks for the replies. Would something like an old wood desk (not one of the particle board laminated junkers) work as a reloading bench? I do have a room that is sort of a catch all in the house, I just don't have the space to set up a whole work station which is why I was thinking of locating out to the shed.
  11. I have been entertaining the idea about starting to reload (and saving my brass in anticipation!). My issue is that I don't have a space in my house to reload, which means I would have to use my shed, which has no heat or AC. Not really concerned with spring and fall when it's mild out, but was wondering what effects (if any) the weather would have on the ammo components when your loading in the summer/winter when the temps can get to extremes. Are there any precautions I would need to take? I am not content with the idea of having a space heater around powder/primers, so winter time loading would be limited to days in the 40's or higher. I love the heat, so summer time not having AC is not an issue. Do I have to worry about humidity or condensation?
  12. Can you bypass that switch and install another on? You could use some butt splices to hard wire where the old switch was then just install a simple toggle switch in a box on the power cord side. Might be easier than trying to find the exact switch, especially if it's an old model press. What make is the drill press?
  13. Gotcha. Think I read it too fast the first time to catch everything you were saying.
  14. I did speak to the PD about it when I put in for my most current batch of permits. I was told to do the paperwork and submit it to NJSP on my own, that the PD isn't involved. Does this sound correct? Who do I contact at NJSP to drop off the paperwork? My PD is good, we just didn't elaborate about the exemptions when we talked.
  15. I wonder how many transactions did NOT take place because the guy buying said he couldn't pass a background check? Those clips are in the trash can of the editing room.
  16. Thanks! I'm curious as to the exemption part. In theory, you would be building a "collection"....
  17. I agree that it may not be worth taking the risk and answering no. The idea that someone is maintaining a "list"seems to break Dr/Patient confidentiality. I agree that the crazies in the world have no place owning firearms. The nut job in AZ who shot all the people at the Giffords rally is recent proof of that. I don't like the idea that there is a general database out there for mental health. If your sane, but have seen a Dr. cause you were having a rough time in your life is a far cry from hearing voices, being suicidal, etc. The nuts should be the ones on the list!
  18. I am curious. Who maintains mental health records, the state, your DR, a hospital? I would assume it is safe to say that if you ended up at either a state hospital like Ancora, or at a crises center that would be a locatable record. I could see there being a fine line with a private psychiatrist as to weather or not they had submitted to some database that you were a patient unless you were there for some very serious issues. I don't see a family MD being the type to submit to some mental health database because he gave you a months worth of anti anxiety meds cause your wife left you or someone died, etc. Would be good to know who's maintaing the "list"!
  19. I was wondering how this would work. Let's say I have 6 pistol permits. I take the first one today, go to the local gun shop in NJ, buy my pistol. The clock starts ticking on my 30 days..... I come home that same day, go online to a site like gun broker and see an auction that is ending for another pistol I am interested in by a seller in Florida. My question: Since the pistol has to be shipped to a NJ FFL, can I make the purchase online that night paying the out of state vendor, then go to the NJ FFL in 31 days, pay the transfer fee then pick up the pistol or would I be violating the OGAM rule? Second question: I pick up 6 permits today. I come home, go on line, find an online sale/auction for a package deal of 3 pistols but need to buy today or will miss the sale. Can I make the purchase, have the weapons sent to my NJ FFL, and then file the exemption paperwork with the NJSP to purchase a package of 3 pistols with the reason of them being a collection? Could I buy 2 or more pistols in separate auctions/sales and have them shipped to the FFL and then file the exemption paperwork for reason of them being a collection? In either of these two scenarios, I would be waiting to pick up the pistols from the NJ FFL until I received the exemption paperwork back from the NJSP. I guess the one general question here is does "buying" as defined with OGAM begin the day you pay for the pistol or the day to pick up the pistol and fill out the P2P paperwork with the NJ FFL?
  20. I'm a newer member too. I will say the Winslow Twp. PD does an excellent job of following the guidelines. I was even told when I picked up my first pistol permits about coming in to extend them if they weren't used in 90 days. I should also add they called my house cause my fiancee had not gotten her prints done to make sure she was still following through on her FID application. I commend them for doing one heck of a job, and I'm impressed with them following up. I have not posted about this before because 1, I don't want to brag to everyone especially the members who have to put up with months and months of waiting, unanswered followup calls, and extra paperwork bs by other PD's, and 2, I didn't want to jinks myself for when I apply for more permits (I believe in karma). There's no harm in sharing good news, and if your gonna stand up and post about how great your PD is, then give them credit!
  21. PK90 has them. www.colddeadhands.com They are listed in his firearms for sale list. He also has the parts kits to assemble the lower, and a few uppers in stock.
