  1. Applied for a change of address for my FID card and a PP on 12-4-14 with the River Vale PD. I needed the standard forms and references and had to do background check online. Received call today that everything was ready for pickup. I thought the turnaround was pretty good since it was my first experience with this PD and with the holidays.
  2. I'm in the process of doing a change of address in River Vale. Had to fill out all the same paperwork as if applying for pistol purchase permits. Had to pay the $20 online fee to do a criminal background check. They also sent out letter to my 2 references. That was on 12-4 still waiting.
  3. I have the SR 22 and I like it a lot. I don't have any hands on time with the LCR so I can't comment on it.
  4. I'm not sure what happened with Ramsey. I bought my first few guns from there but they seriously went down hill. There inventory is very limited and it seems whatever gun your looking for, there's always a shortage on or hard to get. They also seem like they only want to sell what's on the floor before they order for you. Most of the pistols they have in the case seem to be scratched up. I've pointed it out and asked if they could order a new one and they gave me some story of how hard it is to get that pistol. I passed on it and ordered it from another shop and got it a week later. They really need to work on there inventory a get other sources for ordering firearms.
  5. I got the exact problem once before with the same 40 grn CCI mini mags. In fact I looked through the sleeve / box and found 2 rounds that the bullet was loose. Not a problem after that. I chalked it up to a bad box of ammo.

  7. I was in yesterday. It was busy, waited 5-10 min for my turn told the clerk what I was looking for and he said that he had one. They were all real nice. I was surprised how reasonably priced it was. Told him I wanted wrote up the paper work waited about 5 min for the Nics and off I went. I even got a free hour on the range to use when I want. There was definitely a different vibe there than in the past. Maybe the additional competition made them realize that they needed to make some changes. I would definitely go back for another purchase.
  8. Thanks for the advice Tom. I actually bought the 226 as a 22 and got the 9 mm conversion kit. Was able to get both for the price of what they wanted for the 226 in the 9mm. I like having it in both cal. I shoot the 22 for the most part at the range and then run a box of 9mm towards the end. I have other 22's but there smaller frame guns and you really feel the difference when you go up in cal but since the its the same frame it's not as noticeable at least my opinion. As far the 22 mags, my first round I upgraded them with the Sig Power parts which worked great but was pricey. Then I found a AR mag kit from Brownelle for $8 for 3 mags. A little modification and they worked just as good. The rail stays back on the last round and each mag now holds 15 rounds. The only drawback is on the last round the follower holds the rail back so you need to lock the rail before you eject the clip. After shooting a few rounds it really wasn't a big deal to get use to.
  9. I have been on the fence on whether or not to purchase the CTL with side activation. I have the 226 in 9mm & the 22lr exchange kit and I thought it might help me at the range to become more accurate. Just wanted to get some opinions and hear some of your thoughts or suggestions.
  10. I am pretty sure your confusing it with a small LEO gun shop that is in Midland Park but I think that's by appointment only.
  11. All more the reason if you get pulled over while transporting a firearm never tell them you have one or depending on which type of cop you get, will be like opening Pandora's Box. Just keep your mouth shut and both ands on the wheel.
  12. Not that bad, especially this area. Does that model have the decocker? I think that's the most comfortable gun I ever felt. Good luck with it.
  13. I've been looking for one. How much did they get you for there?
  14. I have found that Ramsey Outdoor in Ramsey always gave me good prices compared to others in the area. I are off the charts with their ffl transfer fees. I think they want like $100 or something crazy.

I have to agree that if a range discounted every deserving group that came in the door, there would probably a small handful that paid the full boat. With that being said, my police officers have ranges that are provided from the municipality they work for them to shoot. With the salaries most of them make at least by me in Bergen County, they can more than afford the regular rates. As much as I would want an officer responding to a life and death situation as accurate as possible, I don't think a 50% discount is going to make that much of a difference. But for the veteran that lost his leg and can't work and wants to stop by the range when they can that 50% can make a world of difference.
  16. Bhunted I agree 100% with you in regards to most people only post complaints. Unfortunately that's what people do. As I don't have a problem opening up my mouth to a sales person or owner if I am unhappy with service, many people are shy or more reserved and choose not to speak up. You will find good and bad with any establishment I give a place a few chances before I take them off my list of providers.
  17. That's the whole reason for the forum, to post personal experiences you had with an establishment good or bad. If you had good experiences with them great. I myself haven't had bad experiences with them just feel they are pricey. I myself read the post good or bad about an establishment or a product and make my decision.
  18. If you don't think a Glock feels cheap next to a H&K than there's seriously something wrong with you. And yes I would definitely take a Springfield over a Glock
  19. You like Glocks that's fine. To me they feel very cheap. I much rather the Springfield over the Glock. I also like Sig 226. I have shot Glocks and you can have them I also know quite a few cops that would love to get rid of them if they could.
  20. Based on any I ever shot. There is no comparison between the two.
  21. I seriously doubt that they would compare the craftsmanship of a blocked magazine to see if it was done by a gunsmith. As long as they don't exceed 15 rounds I think your good. Who's to say you didn't purchase them from an online store or at a local gun show. All you knew was that they were 15 round magazines you don't need the work history of the person that pinned them.
