  1. Does anyone have any info on what GFH is offering as training for teachers? As a teacher I'd be more than willing to take advantage of any training they would provide.
  2. So does that mean that you couldn't get an extension on them if you wanted to, as it was already done once? That is insane that they have been there since August. How long was it from your application date to 8/30? I might stop in there sometime the end of this week, see if I can't talk to one of the detectives face to face. I only put in for one permit at the time and now am regretting that, maybe when I do I'll see if there is anyway they can change it to two, or at the very least start the paperwork for a second permit.
  3. Thanks man, that's what I'll do. I figure I'll keep calling every two weeks until I hear something good. I've been mentally prepared to wait until the end of January, I hope it doesn't go longer than that. Worst part is, I already have a purchased gun sitting in a safe at the shop so its only a matter of getting the paperwork so I can go pick it up.
  4. I haven't talked to the detective yet, the clerk confirmed they have all my paperwork/references/prints back and said they are just waiting for a paper from the state. We'll see. I'm only about 50 days into my wait so I'm sure they'll tell me there's nothing they can do yet. Congrats on getting yours today.
  5. I'm glad to hear you got it. What I'm wondering is how they didn't have it yesterday yet it mystically appeared today. Makes me wonder if I should go over as well, seems like they can make it happen if they really want to.
  6. Do you think I'll get my FID before then?
  7. Welcome. 4 months and counting for you doesn't bode well for me. I'm waiting in Keyport a little over a month as of today. Have had no contact with the PD since dropping off forms late October. Please keep me posted if you hear anything about your paperwork, I'll do the same.
  8. I saw a sign today saying the Fishery was back open. It didn't look too bad even though it's right across the street.
  9. How did it turn out? I talked to both of my references and they should have both been received by the PD as of last week. I was planning on calling just to confirm they got them. I can't believe it's been 4 months for you already, that's doesn't seem promising for me getting it anytime soon.
  10. blksheep: We were very fortunate and didn't have any real damage where I live, I'm on the other side of Rt. 36. The waterfront area wasn't as lucky. Union Beach got hit very bad as I'm sure you saw. The only problem we had was power being out, like just about everyone else. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of work were you doing in UB? hd2000fxdl: How do you like OBRPC? Have you been to CJRPC as well? I'm still waiting on my FID to come in, have already purchased a GP100, but am thinking about a shotgun as well and I'm thinking I'd need a range that is suitable for both. I don't recall ever seeing someone with one at Shore Shot. I'm sure I'll want a rifle at some point too, but I've only really shot pistols so I don't even know what I'd be looking for in a club.
  11. That's what I thought from reading the forums here. I was surprised they asked for both, but I didn't want to argue because I just want it to go through. At this point I don't think I'd get the $18 back anyway, and I don't have the FID in my hands yet, so I really don't want to make any waves. I still have to meet with the detective for an interview, so maybe I'll ask him about it when I go. Thanks for the reply.
  12. I printed the FID application and consent for mental health check forms and submitted two copies of each along with photocopies of my drivers license and ss card and brought them to the Keyport PD on 10/25. I was told at the time that I needed to be fingerprinted and fill out an additional yellow form which I would have to return with a $18 money order for the NJSP. I was fingerprinted yesterday and turned in the receipt/money order/yellow form today. They said a detective would get in touch with me at some point to set up an interview, but it's not a priority right now after the storm (which I completely understand). What I'm wondering is what the deal was with the $18 money order, and why I didn't pay the $5 for the FID/$2 for the handgun permit. This is my first time applying for an FID/permits and I'm wondering if this seems normal. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Thanks for the welcome. I went and turned in the fingerprint receipt today at the Keyport police station, they told me I have to wait and one of the detectives will get in touch with me for an interview. It's not exactly a priority after all the storm damage, so who knows how long it will take. I haven't been over by the Blue Rock yet, but I did go over by the fishery and Ye Cottage Inn. Ye Cottage Inn is completely wrecked. It's sad, I took my wife there for her birthday two weeks ago.
  14. These are great, thanks for putting them up.
  15. Hello all, New to the forum and the area, but not NJ. Been living in Keyport now since September, just finished getting printed today for my FID. Going to check and see if I can drop off the paperwork tomorrow, but I'm not sure if they'll take it, I think I might have to wait for Thursday. Would appreciate any info from people in the area about how long it takes for it all to go through, as I actually purchased my first gun yesterday (a Ruger GP100) and would love to take it home as soon as possible. I'm a member at Shore Shot for the last year and its the only range I've been to. If anyone has any pointers I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
