  1. I know this isn't from NJ but still.... gun owners proving we can do the right thing and THEY NEED US!!! http://fox6now.com/2013/03/12/marine-with-concealed-carry-permit-stops-man-from-beating-woman/ WEST ALLIS (WITI) — A Marine Corps veteran was able to stop a man early Tuesday, March 12th from nearly kicking a woman to death. It happened near 102nd and Lincoln, and Wisconsin’s concealed carry law made his efforts possible. Charlie Blackmore was driving home from work at 4:00 a.m. along Lincoln Avenue when he saw something on the sidewalk. Blackmore didn’t realize it was a woman on the ground being kicked in the head and stomach until he got closer. That’s when he jumped out of his car and sprung into action. “I said ‘stop’ and he starts coming towards me and that`s when I drew on him. He started getting closer and I said ‘get down on the ground,’” Blackmore said. Blackmore held his gun on the suspect and called West Allis police. He says several times while waiting for police to arrive, the attacker moved toward him. “I mean I’ve already made it up in mind that if he came at me I was going to have to take him down and I told him that. I warned him multiple times not to come towards me because he was a big guy and I wasn’t playing around and he didn’t seem like he was playing around,” Blackmore said. Blackmore says police eventually showed up and had to force the suspect to the ground. They then asked to see Blackmore’s concealed carry permit. “I put my hands up turned around and said ‘you can grab it out of my wallet.’ Checked my permit, gave me my wallet back, and then interviewed me for their paperwork,” Blackmore said. West Allis police say that paperwork is not yet available. For that reason, the name of the attacker and his victim have not yet been released. “She had a really big laceration by her eye and it looked like her nose was broken,” Blackmore said. Blackmore didn’t catch any names either, but said the victim told him the man is an ex-boyfriend. “She was not with him anymore and he had stalked her that day or something and he attacked her on her way to work,” Blackmore said. Blackmore says situations like this are why he supports Wisconsin’s concealed carry law, and the rights of gun owners. “We do good things. Not all of us are bad or crazy gun nuts. There are good people,” Blackmore said. The West Allis police chief says these types of situations really are judgement calls for gun owners. While they don’t encourage this behavior, they appreciate citizens watching out for each other as long as they do it legally and are willing to accept the consequences.
  2. Phil, I have absolutely no problem with waiting in line, I am just happy to get to shoot. I have no problem with the young guy being on the phone, but if he was on an important call all he had to do was step away from the counter, he wasnt talking on it, he was what appeared to be checking facebook... I understand SS is a busy place. If I walk in and see it all batshit crazy I simply walk out and come at a different time, I know better. You guys have some of the best RO around and for that I thank you, and I place that higher than even your cusomer service. I never feel unsafe by other shooters when I am that and that speaks volumes. As for the waiting in line, it wasn't that big of a deal, they just wanted to try all the pistols which is great for you guys, I simply wanted to spend the 10 minutes going through a box of ammo. I know I am not held to a time which is fantastic but I don't come close to an hour most days anyway. All in all I enjoy your facility and maybe there was just a misunderstanding with the guy on the phone. Either way like I said, I have my membership and will continue shooting there, and will likely renue my membership and continue shooting there. It is not a bad place to shoot at all, as long as you know what times to go
  3. From what I read, you have to get the mags pinned to 15 because that one extra round makes it a BIG BAD GUN!!! I am not 100% on the conversion kits but I am sure someone that owns one will be around shortly to comment... but I am with you 100% and will own one here shortly... if my permits EVER come in!!
  4. I have a membership to SS and the more I go there the more I dislike it. I don't mind shooting there, I don't even mind the ammo prices. But when I am a member who has paid for my membership and I have to wait in line behind walk-ins who are just shooting and want to try every gun on the wall.... thats crap! Also I did not catch his name but I will get it, a kid behind the counter was far more interestedi n his iphone than anyone in the store. Even when I was asking him questions he was giving me short answers not looking up from his phone and kind of shrugging me off. I got my membership as a gift so I will continue to use the range but man this place is starting to piss me off.... However I have noticed that if you don't go during "peak" hours there is NEVER a line. I have odd off days so I can go nice and early in the morning or mid day before those after work guys go in, and I never go on the weekends! I was going to check out BA but this forum has made me think I will just stay away.
  5. I dunno but other than needing to be cleaned, the 40 was a TON of fun to shoot!! I am 100% sure that this will be my next buy when my permits come in
  6. Shore shot has an xD that you can rent in a 9 and a 40....
  7. My pleasure! Glad you finally got it and I hope you like it!
  8. I will be attempting an NRA emblem in the next few weeks... I can't see the pic you just posted but i'll check it later and see if that is it...
  9. I will be adding all of you PS3 guys at some point today... On a nerd note... just unlocked diamond camo on my snipers.... I don't play that often so I know that took forever but still its something!
  10. I recently joined and they do not seem to be worried about my vaginal mesh.... I hope yours is well! lol
  11. First of all thanks to everyone for the information. I am actually really excited to build this rather than buy it. The more I think about it the more excited I get. From what I read, it can be cheaper, you get that self astisfaction and can customize it the way you want/can afford. I am actually basing the one I want to build of a spikes model I fell in love with. That is the look I want and will be going for. (http://www.spikestactical.com/new/z/st15-16-midlength-le-w-9-bar-p-796.html) Anyone have any good/bad input on spikes? I haven't seen any negative that I can find...
  12. Head is not spinning, I have been watching videos, and reading articles and gaining a ton of confidence! I am curious as to the average price of a self built AR. I am being told it is cheaper this way but it doesn't seem that way. Uppers for 700-1000, which can be (if you can find it) the price of a completed rifle. I have yet to research how much lowers are but I don't imagine them much cheaper. I am starting shopping for the uppers today.
  13. I normally only play one night a week, that being tonight and I play all night (to keep my work schedule) I go in tomorrow night at midnight so I stay up all night and sleep tomorrow. I have 2 kids and one on the way so im sure my days are numbered
  14. OK so I am sure there are other gamers out there that play this or other games. I wanted to start a place for us to share names so if anyone wanted to get together online and play. I normally only play BO2 and I only play on PS3. Oddly enough my PSN name is same as my forum name. ADD ME! and put in the subject your from NJGF so i know to accept. And just so you know its me.... take a look at my black ops 2 emblem... Yes I use the clan tag NJGF! or 2A, i also have an air force wings emblem i sometimes use with the tag USAF, or a university of alabama emblem with BAMA or TIDE as my tag but lately its been this....SEE U ONLINE!
  15. You guys may have lit a spark that is going to cause a fire.... I am pretty interested in doing this... So I will ask you guys, where to start... I am guessing I will start with an upper since my FID isnt in yet. Is this a piece by piece type deal or is that mainly the lower. I mean I know the look i want (have built it a billion times on arbuilder). My wife would deffinitely support cheaper parts but I don't want to get cheap crap that I will have to replace quickly. To add salt to the wound, one friend from my unit, said he just sold an AR for 1050 but would gladly have sent it my way for 700..... GRRR
  16. you mean 2 mags with 15.... not one of those DEADLY HORRIBLE SCARY HIGH CAP MAGS!
  17. uhh 10 bucks to rent the 2 guns (stayed within caliber so it was once price, and then about 40 bucks on ammo, i brought my own targets. so an hour or two, two guns, 100 rounds, $50 and a damn good time I wasn't upset.
  18. I just rented the .40 M&P as well as the .40 xD at sure shot. The xD was MUCH better in my opinion BUT the gun was in severe need of cleaning. I imagine if this was a cleaned and taken care of gun it would have outperformed the M&P. I shot a lot better with the xD but the M&P was a little smoother (again I think it was due to lack of cleaning or constant use. it was DEF used A LOT!
  19. See this is what I am afraid of. Though I am partial to that instant gratification, I wouldnt mind building my own for that gratification of self accomplishment. Also I dont want to end up with 8 lowers but still no AR... hahah hmmmm I need an FID to buy a RIFLE, what about RIFLE parts?
  20. Yea it seems they put a sour taste in EVERYONES mouth during this craze and abandoning members. I shoot there because it is fairly close and my wife bought me a year membership for valentines day. thought that counts really so I don't mind.
  21. I am reading more and more about this online. It is definitely cheaper I have seen that from members here and on ar15.com. I am a littler nervous about doing it myself. I mean I have taken my m16a2 apart and reassembled it several times while deployed but we didn't COMPLETELY piece by piece it just separate the upper and lower, remove the bolt and fire pin and basic cleaning. I imagine building one from scratch is much more difficult. Sure maybe not for some of you who have been doing this for years but I am just getting into this hobby. Call it zombie invasion training, call it practicing my 2A, call it crazy dad about to have his second daughter and they will be 18 months apart,,, either way I am new to it and can not wait to become that "crazy gun nut down the street"
  22. I am a federal officer and am allowed to carry under LEOSA (law enforcement officer safety act). I brought the taurus with me when I moved back home to jersey and just had it sitting in the safe until I became a leo. I cleared it all with my local PD and they have assured me as well as my agency that I am authorized to carry FID or not. I just can't purchase which is why I am waiting on permits and FID. To the earlier posts I have waited this long for an AR I am NOT going to jump into a sucker panic price. It was just something I saw and wanted to share for those of you who have money to throw around. I am going to buy my pistol first. I also will shop around first as well as it seems like SS's prices were pretty high on some of their handguns.
  23. I went to Sure Shot yesterday to shoot and saw their wall was fairly full of rifles. I saw prices of $1600 and $2200... I dont have my FID yet (still waiting) or I would have been more seriously shopping. I was there to compare pistols so that when my permit comes in I know whether which pistol to buy. I am currently carrying a Taurus PT101 but am looking to upgrade to either an M&P .40 or a xD (or xDM) .40. I shot both rented there... The M&P was not bad but I think I am leaning toward the xD. Theirs DEF needed to be cleaned and oiled but still the overall experience with the gun was enough for me to lean that way. But anyway I just wanted to share that they do have a decent amount of rifles hanging from the wall. Oh yea the only name I really saw (again I wasn't really inspecting them) was Stag.
