  1. That's the sad part, it's true. We've taken stupid to a whole new level in Peoples Republic of New Jersey, sling shots? illegal. fireworks? illegal. BB guns? regulated. Ammo purchase? please sign here...maybe NICS for sales of cutlery are next, it wouldn't surprise me in this State!!
  2. Like loading him up on thorazine and haldol while pumping him full of anti-gun BS?
  3. Of course! NJ is always first in the race to be stupid...it's called the nanny state for a reason.
  4. Just got a few more permits issued, I guess I'm not on a watch list...
  5. Glad to hear that everything worked out for you, make sure you keep that letter.
  6. It's a nice holster if you want concealment under a sport coat or jacket, leaves no print. Never had mine fall out of the holster it has good retention and is well built. I'm trying to find a used one for a S&W autoloader from the 70's and that is like pulling teeth.
  7. How are they? a dealer in N. NJ had one before and I passed on it.
  8. I bought a Galco for my G22, bought it used. Nice holster and comfortable to wear (and, given my size, conceals very well) but I prefer IWB over it. Galco holsters are expensive but last a lifetime, something to keep in mind..
  9. I would say Yes, but over $1K when you figure S&H, transfer, etc.? no way!
  10. That sucks, I guess you'll have to convince the State you are mentally stable or prove you they have the wrong person. I hate to say it but this is going to get expensive, I would start by calling them and seeing if they have you confused with someone else (might be best to visit in person w/ a copy of the letter). If that doesn't yield results you might need to consult with a licensed psychiatrist in NJ and undergo a quick evaluation and have them sign off that you are not a danger to yourself/others. If that fails you will need to hire an attorney (better yet, retain one now just in case).
  11. Keep us posted and let us know (word for word) what the letter says, it's coming from Trenton (I believe) so it should only take a day or two now that they have the correct address. Mixing up S Union/D Union is understandable, someone made a typo that's all.
  12. Have you sent a follow up letter (certified mail)? if not, now would be a good time to get one mailed out. Speaking of letters, did you receive a NICS denial letter in the mail? If you are absolutely sure you have nothing on your record that would prevent you purchasing a firearm I would be tempted to buy a cheap 22 rifle and see if NICS is approved or not. Something else that came to mind...make sure the FFL enters everything correctly on the NICS portal site. It was probably pointed out before but are you sure the dealer

    Ham radio

No problem, let me know when you hear back from them. They are a well known / established company and I have had nothing but pleasant dealings with them.

    Ham radio

No problem I would try qrz.com under the forums section, you need to register to post ads but if I remember correctly it's free. ebay is another venue but too many bad buyers/parts swappers...guys that purchase a working radio, pull the part they need to fix a non-working radio and return it demanding a refund. If you sell them on ebay you would need to list them "as-is, not working" but you can detail the fact that they work in the listing to prevent returns. Another site is eham, can't give you the web address for them off hand but a quick google search will turn it up. Finally, if you intend to unload the entire lot to one buyer I would contact Universal Radio in Ohio. I've dealt with Universal exclusively for the last three years and they are easy to work with. I've never sold equipment to them but if you send them some photos they will make you an offer. I can put you in touch with them if you would like. When boxing this equipment up for shipping do not cheap-out, use a good amount of packaging material and a slightly over sized (strong) box and always send it insured. If you do not wish to create an account on QRZ I can post photos/descriptions for you from my account and forward all interest to you via email or PM here on NJGF if that would be easier for you.

Also, not only is the Drake still good for SWL but so would the Kenwood and Yaesu. Obsolete and radio equipment really don't go together in this hobby, plenty of HAM's and short wave listeners will put out good money on a older receiver it could be for nostalgic reasons or for daily listening. If you can plug them in and power them up you could try and see if you can receive 5mhz, 10mhz, 15mhz, 20mhz even without a outdoor antenna you can still usually receive those frequencies with the stock telescoping or whip antenna.

The Drake SPR-4 was from the 70's if I'm correct, that Drake SPR-4 is still 100% useable by a modern day SWL (shortwave listener) and many of the older SWL guys that had one years ago would jump on the chance to buy it. Depending on condition (and if everything works) you are looking at a $300 (min) receiver and I've seen some exceed $500 in very good-excellent condition. The average is between $350-$400 for one of these. The Kenwood should bring $250-$350 again depending on condition and if it everything works,. The Yaesu FRG-8800 should bring $350-$400 depending on condition and if everything works. All three of these radios are desirable, if you unloaded the lot to someone $1K-$1,100 would be a reasonable asking price but without knowing if everything works and the condition of each radio that's hard to say... Do you have any papers, manuals, boxes, etc. for the radios? price goes up a little on each radio.
  17. Send a second letter via certified mail, make sure it is addressed to the Firearms Investigation Unit address in Trenton (if you need the address let me know).
  18. Yes, basic denials = letter in the mail or phone call at the most. If you are a felon and still have your FPID / attempted to make a purchase I'm sure that would also generate a visit (especially if you checked "no" on the 4473 and state form). OP Will be fine, no black helicopters and no cattle trailers...I would call Nappen or other reputable NJ attorney who specializes in firearms and get this straightened out.
  19. Early 2013 I had a visit from NJSP/ATF at my door, asked some questions and left. So, Yes, NJSP defiantly has the resources to send someone out for a "home visit". A dealer had marked my multiple long-gun purchase as a PSP (possible straw purchase) and so they were required to show up and question me but that was that, dealer was just covering himself. I kept them at the front door and spoke to them from behind a screen door...never let them inside! Most NICS denials I've heard of in NJ result in a letter being sent via USPS Mail not "home visits". If OP is contacted he can always arrange to meet them somewhere away from his home with counsel present.
  20. As long as they aren't holding one of those Prophet Muhammad drawing contents I'm sure you will be just fine.
  21. PK90, any customers in Islamic dress show up at your shop looking for AK's recently?...
