  1. NJTRPII - I think you got this this wrong bud. Only range I see in the Hanover Board Township Minutes is the case on 36 South Jefferson Road, Cedar Knolls.
  2. I am in the same boat. I applied for 3 more P2P's on October 28th. I have a brand new Sig P226 Stainless Elite 9mm sitting at my FFL waiting to come home. Township wont even return my phone calls. They said 3-4 months so we will see. The first go for initial FID and 2 P2P's took 2.5 months because I made a stink emailing the mayor and added the chief of police. I let this one ride out and sure enough they are taking their sweet time.
  3. Took me 10 weeks but only because I pushed and wrote an email to the mayor at about week 4. Try it. Cant hurt. Sparta told me 3-4 months when I applied for my FID and 2 P2P's initially. I applied for 3 more P2P's on Oct 28th and my references didnt even get contacted yet. Sparta PD had contacted them within the first week the first go so I dont get it. I even called the admin lady who works all the paperwork at the PD who I got to know some and left her a voicemail. No call back. I got 2 pistols and a 22lr conversion kit for one of them so Im not so anxious as I was the first go but I do have a special order Sig P226 Stainless Elite (my avatar) waiting for me at my FFL that came in early I really want to pickup.
  4. Thank you for all the responses and confirmations guys. Off to my local PD I go! Hope I get them sooner than expected.
  5. I did a quick search but didn't find anything. I already got 2 P2P's and want to get another 3. Is it ok when I submit my paperwork to my local PD tomorrow that I list the same 2 people I put down on the first go or do they need to be 2 different/new references? I don't want a reason or any cause for delay on getting these permits. Bad enough it will already take me 3 months without any issues. Thanks.
  6. No worries. I feel everyone's pain. Hang in there guys. Hopefully soon for the both of you too.
  7. Newly ordered Glock 21 is in route to my FFL. My Sig P226 Stainless Elite is ordered and will take at least 4 months to get.
  8. Well folks... Thought I'd post the good news finally. Certainly not rubbing it in to others getting dragged in the process but I just wanted to report so folks know. I got the letter from the township that FID and permits are ready. Exactly 3.5 months from date of applying but I can certainly say that without a doubt it would have been longer if not emailing the higher ups in my town and stopping in to see the administration women in the dept. I got it just short of 2 weeks after stopping in. I feel, if done in a professional and polished manor, you can decrease your time against the usual wait if you take the right approach. Hopefully my documented experience in this thread I started will assist others.
  9. I got it covered guys. I'm comparing apples to apples for price. Including tax. I made sure of this with my local FFL. He says he can meet the price. So going back to my last question, all that is left is the NICS cost correct?
  10. This much is clear that he is matching the cost of the pistol. My question was on the usual transfer cost from FFL to FFL which obviously there isn't one now since I am buying direct from my local FFL. He will just do the NICS is all right? That would save me $25 right there in avoiding the transfer cost so I would be ahead of the game even with him matching the pistol cost. Another benefit I would gather.
  11. Well...I feel pretty good that I should have within a month. Man....I hope I am right. Another questions guys...my local FFL said he could match the price I got on the pistol so I would support him locally of course. I know my price for the pistol walking out the door. So all that remains is the NICS cost for him to charge right? No transfer involved here since he is selling the gun to me new.
  12. Thank you too Dave. Storage?..wow on a 16" x 16" case? I would hope not. He's doing the transfer and NICS for me.
  13. Did some searching but didn't find anything concrete. I think this could be done and next step was to get in touch with my local FFL just to be sure but thought I'd ask here. I am interested in buying a gun from an FFL on Gunbroker. Price is pretty decent. I should have my FID and P2P's in my hand within the next month (I hope!). I know how crazy Jersey is with dates - 30 day rule etc so this got me thinking. If I buy this pistol and it ships to my FFL now and he holds it until I get my P2P, am I still within the law? Does this earlier sale date or purchase from the selling FFL to me raise an illegal issue and red flag for when I complete the transfer through my local FFL say in a month from now? If so, as a second option I can always just pay and have the selling FFL hold the pistol for me and tell him to ship it when the P2P's are in my hand. I'd prefer to have my local FFL already have the pistol in his hands when I get the P2P's though. Thanks.
  14. Well at least the good thing is that the wait allowed us both to do all our research. I bought everything already but my guns and those are picked out and just a matter of where I will be buying. A Glock 21 and a Sig P226 Elite Stainless 9mm. I have everything from targets to range bag and everything in between LOL! I am already prepared to do the trigger job on the G21 PLUS am sending it out to get the slide polished to gunmetal finish with the barrel chrome polished
  15. Are you still waiting on yours too??! Saw your sig. Good luck to you as well if the case.
  16. **Update** Little over 3 months now since I applied. Email follow-up didn't get a response last week from Township Manager, Chief, or Mayor. No surprise. Township Manager resigned and read in paper so I knew it was time to show my face. Walked into the PD today and spoke to Admin person. Sweet lady and helpful as she sat at her desk in front of a 9 inch pile of FID and P2P paperwork files. She advised it's been only 3 months and I advised how other towns are getting them done in 2-4 weeks. She said "no way...not here". They were catching up some so they weren't up to a 6 month wait from what she advised. For those here that get word from that the state is holding up...don't believe it. It's the township or your SP barracks that's making the excuse as they don't have the personnel resources. They were up to handling all the folks who applied in April and I was in this group. She said I got bumped up. (albeit from my emails) She said they were currently doing the background check on me. I asked how much longer. She said to give it a month and if I don't hear from her to give her a call and handed me her card. Looks like I am anywhere hopefully in the 2-4 week point from today to getting the good news I hope or possibly sooner. So could be roughly a 4 month wait which would have been longer if I didn't press. I'll confirm when I get the final call/letter.
  17. Makes me feel better....now can NJ just fix this damn delay for my FID and P2P's please!!!!! Hitting 3 month mark for heavens sake!
  18. Hold on a sec...back on or close to June 21 when you put up this original thread you submitted your paperwork for another P2P and you got it yesterday!!!!!??????????? That's less than 2 months that you got it in. You are one lucky SOB. What town you live in? I am almost at 3 months for my FID and 2 x P2P's. Pissing me off. I'm ready to email the Mayor and Chief of Police again.
  19. Thanks guys. I know this topic is always a heated debate but I'd rather be safe than sorry being new to this hobby. This is last thing I need to get nailed with and end up doing time for no good reason. I know this would be an extreme case and wrong place at wrong time. Just not something any of us needs. It's already hard enough waiting for my FID and P2P's to come back. LOL! I think just the range bag it is for me then and I'll separate ammo and guns within the bag each locked for added measure. This way if I do go in front of a judge or jury for whatever reason (God forbid) its a little extra cushion for my defense. Also, I read other threads and heated debate on empty and loaded mags when traveling. Like many, I prefer to do all my prep work and load mags at home and be ready when I get to the range instead of wasting my needed time at the port loading them up.
  20. I always wondered about this. So if I have my Midway USA Range bag with ammo loaded mags in the external mag pocket and have that locked with a lock on zippers, and my guns inside the bag (no mags loaded in them obviously) locked in their own cases or gun lock installed on each gun, would I be breaking the law? I read and hear so much that ammo and guns need to be separated and locked in NJ. My friend advises to put the ammo in an ammo can and lock it. Guns in range bag with those locked. My preference is to just carry my range bag and that's it. I have no problem locking everything in the range bag if that is legal. Can you guys clear this up? Good discussion in this thread BTW.
  21. Not a Glock fan I would presume I agree which is why I like the gunmetal finish. Your not taking too much original finish off the gun. Also, if you carried everyday and took outdoors alot and subject to bad weather it would be more exposed to the outdoor elements and moisture. Still with care you should be alright. This gun of mine won't be used to this degree(once I get my PTP...uggh). We live in Jersey right?? It will be my indoor range gun and for home defense. Will I be using it?...absolutely but more or less always at the range. Im just getting into this interest. We will see where it goes for me but I like jazzing up my personal likes. Yeah...I figure on this much as well. Glock has a 1 year warranty on their guns but they cover for the lifetime should something go wrong and needs fixing granted all items on the gun are stock and not using aftermarket parts. I read others that ran into this issue. Let's face it though. It's a Glock! How many people really need to use the warranty anyway? They are tanks. You see that Youtube vid where they buried a Glock in the backyard for 2 years, dug up, washed off, and shot 500 rounds through it? Incredible! Internals were even all rusted out.
  22. Here you go. Gunmetal finish which he also does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVk0m0D5ZeE This is the way to go without overkill. Also your not going too deep into the original Glock finish this way and won't show as much grime, scratches, etc. Less costly at $80 and call it a day. I like the contrast of the black barrel and seperation of colors. Gives a mean "dark" look which appears more stock. The full polished finish looks more like a showpiece handgun.
