  1. Isn't a challenge different from a an injunction? I believe you're correct but a few posts ago Sam1 was talking injunction which means literally a suspension of the law, whereas with a challenge I would think that means the law is still in effect until the challenge is resolved one way or the other. 2. Agreed. Probably the same Debbie Downers in this are the same ones who didn't think Trump and the NRA could won this election. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Doubt it. CCW does not necessarily imply open carry, see Florida for an example. Doubtful we'll get NJ permits, our hope is recognition of non resident permits. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. It's libtard attitudes like Sweeney and Weinberg that defeated Hildebeest. Which will make it all the sweeter when this becomes federal law backed by a conservative SCOTUS and is shoved down their throats just like their agenda has been shoved down ours for so many years. 5. It's not up to Trump directly but there's a lot more to it than that. He and the Republican party can threaten to kill bills important to the Dems. This wasn't possible with a Republican controlled Congress but a libtard President Obama. Now it is and that's part of how deals like this are made in Congress. Any Dem with half a brain knows that there isn't strong support for gun control so to try to stick it to those Bill doesn't help them in the long game. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I didn't think it will die I the Senate as much as Shumer wishes it would. The NRA contributed hugely to the Trump campaign and they are calling in the favor. Not only that the formation of a 2A friendly panel with NRA member on it indicates to me that Trump is serious about being gun friendly. I don't think he'll let Shumer kill it. 7. I bookmarked that link yesterday precisely as a response for the next time an anti says good guys with guns don't stop any bad guys... Should caption that with "arming citizens is worth it if even one life is saved..." Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Would it be legal under: Activities contained in N.J.S.A 26:39-6f. can be broken down as follows: 1.A member of a rifle or pistol club organized under rules of the National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice and which filed its charter with the State Police; 2.A person engaged in hunting or target practice with a firearm legal for hunting in this State; 3.A person going directly to a target range, and; 4.A person going directly to an authorized place for "practice, match, target, trap or skeet shooting exhibitions." If I'm going to Florida and practicing with my hollow point ammunition on my private property? In FL they are much more open to where you can shoot, I could say I'm shooting on my property which is legal for practice in most Florida counties (this was clarified and made legal in Florida for "backyard shooting ranges"). My private property and properties of my friends in Florida as well as many public lands are "authorized places for practice."
  9. So would transport of HP be lawful possession driving from my home in NJ to my land/property in FL under that law? Seems to me that it is... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. I agree, it's not the best way to illustrate it. The book is filled with examples of people with the genetic predisposition for certain sports (some of the main examples are runners with greater VO2 capacities and specific muscle fiber composition) but I've also seen examples myself where some people simply have better hand eye coordination and these same people require less time than other people to reach a specific skill level, as well as being able to achieve more in the long run. It's an interesting question without a doubt. I consider my son to be my own science experiment in this regards although to be fair he comes from an athletic family on both sides of his parents families and it would have been a better test if both my wife and I were un-athletic couch potatoes. I've vacillated between the nature/nurture side of the debate for sports abilities for years now and depending on what year you ask me my answer may be different .
  11. I know of that guy, he decided to put the theory to the test. I'm very interested in knowing the results. I have a similar plan for my son which started when he was 1-1/2 years old although I'm not officially tracking the hours just yet. The 10k rule has some merit, however the proponents of it state that world class performance is achieved at that mark. The 10,000 hour theory has since been debunked with numerous examples of people doing it in a lot less hours, and people who have put in the requisite 10,000 hours and not achieving anything near world class performance. That said, I always believe if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well and being able to shoot well is a skill that is highly desirable.
  12. There has been questions about the 1 hour of practic, etc. The 10,000 hour rule as proposed/bastardized by Geoff Colvin (I was mistaken when I attributed it to Gladwell) is supposed to consist of what he calls deliberate practice. It is not just random practice (i.e., I'll throw around the basketball for an hour) but specific and designed to push the limits of your skill. According to Gladwell someone can only do this 2-3 times a day for an hour or so as it is too mentally taxing to do for 8 hours a day. So let's say you do 4 hours per day, 6 days per week that means according to Colvin you would need 8 years to achieve that. However, in David Epstein's book "The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of Extraordinary Athletic Performance" he shows an example of where a world class jumper had trained his entire life, set world records, won Olympic Gold, then a (I think) Jamaican guy from the local basketball team decided to try high jumping and within a year had beaten this record holder - without having done anywhere near 10,000 hours of practice. In fact the guy didn't like to practice at all. What he did have was genetic gifts that made him a natural jumper (very short archilles tendon for one, IIRC, as well as being taller). So with a lot less practice he dethroned the current world record holder. Epstein shows numerous examples like that in the book. I was very athletic (national/international class in 3 sports) and my son, who is 4 years old, usually rises to the top of whatever sports class we put him in - a lot of his friends look like total spaz's next to him on the playground - and I attribute that as much to his genetics as anything I've done with him.
  13. That theory was actually severely mis-interpreted and bastardized, particularly by Malcom Gladwell as a matter of fact. The theory was originally based on a study of musicians and was an average of what it took to reach a very high level of expertise - world class playing as a matter of fact. It has since been shown that some people can become world class in a lot less hours, some people spend 10,000 hours and never reach a level anywhere near world class, etc. I've made it a hobby to read up and study on these theories and done my own research, and I believe the theory that there are genetic "gifts" that allow some people to achieve a lot more with the same amount of practice than others. I have to run to a meeting but I'll post a bit more later.
  14. Actually if one were to go strictly by this: (b) Directly to or from any target range, or other authorized place for the purpose of practice, match, target, trap or skeet shooting exhibitions, provided in all cases that during the course of the travel all firearms are carried in the manner specified in subsection g. of this section and the person has complied with all the provisions and requirements of Title 23 of the Revised Statutes and any amendments thereto and all rules and regulations promulgated thereunder; or You would have an issue - does anyone actually fly down to say Florida directly a range there and then come back? Does anyone go directly to a competition and then leave immediately to come home? I doubt it. So I think there is an element of being reasonable that is in there.
  15. Does anyone ever drop off their car at one of the many parking lots around Newark airport and take a shuttle to the terminal?
  16. Actually the comment about Florida is incorrect. The murder rate as well as the robbing incidents were above national average, after Florida went to Shall Issue for CCW the murder rate dropped significantly as well as the robbing and blasting of foreigners stopped. Florida issues a huge number of CCW permits now and I have not heard of people in rental cars getting targeted in years.
  17. For my competition pistol they have spare parts kit which I plan on purchasing before I compete. I'm still in the middle of building up my collection. I will have to probably get some springs and perhaps a complete BCG for my AR. Other guns I don't worry about as much as failure in one won't ruin my day as I have backups for them. Competition pistol eventually have another nearly identical pistol as a backup.
  18. Broke a trigger return spring on my SP01 Shadow and waiting on mail to deliver TRS replacement, wondering if there is a local source for CZ parts in NJ?
  19. Hey Steve, doesn't it go without saying that we love you? -Ben Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. That's very different from my experience, Remington gold bullets work great in all my 22s including my p229 22LR, it actually cycles great with the gold bullets. Wish I could find more, although their accuracy isn't so hot. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. My last round of permits (2) took exactly 4 weeks from Old Bridge.
  22. Reeds shipped my gun and it was new and perfect condition. I picked it up from Steve at Monmouth Arms a day before my drive down to Florida. Great gun for CCW, paired with a Stealthgear Onyx IWB it is vet comfortable even in 90 degree weather in the Keys.
  23. I got my permits in 4 weeks exactly, perfect timing for me to get my H&K P2000sk for my travel to Florida.
  24. I hear you...in all likelihood I will take 81 - it will take me an extra hour and half but probably worth it.
