  1. My personal belief at this point is that this started here in 2019 and went unnoticed and that the number of infections is significantly greater than believed today.
  2. That anyone asymptomatic is significantly contagious. If we understand what’s going on there, we might be able to address it.
  3. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/03/15/gun-sales-surging-citizens-react-possibility-civil-unrest/ An article on Breitbart by AWR Hawkins about people stocking up and buying guns in anticipation of civil unrest. Mentions a doctor who said, “I want to buy a handgun, I think they call it a Glock, but I’m not sure. I have a house and a family, and they’ll need protection if things get worse. The fear is that civil services will break down.” Sounds new to firearms. I wonder what his stance on them was before now?
  4. Researchers need to dig into that further. It sounds like there is a decent evidence of it but they need to understand exactly how that is happening. Are they Pig Pen from Peanuts? Or is something else going on?
  5. For the win..... Actually, for some people it will cost money to deal with the kids being out of school like it would in the summer. So I get that. But if there was a need for some assistance...this might be a good place for it.
  6. Yes, but these are projections based on confirmed test results which do not fully account for the real number of infections in the population. The reality is we just do not know for sure yet. But.... the world is acting like it does know for sure.
  7. Ok... wait a minute. Italy averages 17,000 deaths per flu season due to the flu. These are their stats from 2014 to 2018. The research notes Italy has the highest mortality rate for flu in Europe. That’s an average of about ... 94 per day...... Higher in the peak times. Like.... now. Say... 180-200. Assuming flu season is 6 months. Versus 13 weeks as notes for some regions. Yet someone posted lengthy obituaries to point out the number of deaths from corona. So... do Italians not do obits for flu deaths?
  8. Congress just covered the hourly workers in the bill they passed. At least for a time.
  9. Good question. Isn’t is typical to ask...who benefits?
  10. The more I learn about what has been happening since December, the more I believe this has been out there with the same impact on health since then but it was not being attributed to corona, but to an as of yet unnamed respiratory viral infection. All of it is from health care professionals and one I know personally who in charge of crisis response at a large hospital near Atlanta. If the infections that were not identified back in Dec and Jan here in the US are due to covid-19 then the graphs you see now should actually be stacked on top of graphs that were never done or published for unattributed viral infections. Including the resulting fatalities. Why does this matter? If this is actually the case, and there’s just as much argument for it as against it, the hysteria happening now did not happen while the same contagion spread the same way but went unnoticed. I’m not talking a conspiracy. I’m talking about unnecessary hysteria and idiocy. I sure hope we find out but we may never know.
  11. It’s worth a viewing. Also... this article about a professional expat living in Italy. https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/coronavirus-quarantine-italy-mistakes It focuses on the quarantine and mistakes made by Italians. But pay attention to the passage toward the end about how her and many people she knew were very sick.....in Dec and Jan.... her symptoms describe almost to a tee what my whole family had during that same time. She does not say she was tested then or now. But it’s interesting to consider what caused that odd illness. For us.... my son attends Drexel U in Philly. That school had a large number of Chinese nationals as students. Thousands.... of the 14,500 attendees. He was sick first... then my daughter who he hangs out with and attends St. Joe’s in Philly. Then my wife.. then me. It was bad and identical to what she described. We were all tested for flu and were negative. But my daughter tested positive for an unidentifiable virus. Now I read that there are reports that wuflu began in China as early as November. No conclusions can be drawn. But it would be interesting to see the results of a test for antibodies.
  12. The Surgeon General said exactly this tonight as a guest on Judge Jeanine. The results aren’t going to change what we tell you to do. Tucker has bugged me all week as well. Since we are essentially all limiting our interaction or eliminating it and if we have symptoms, we are...or should be..isolating so as not to infect anyone with whatever we might have. I thunk Tucker’s motivation is based on the belief that people without symptoms but are infected and don’t know it, will communicate the virus to other because they won’t isolate. A week ago that was a good concern. But it is significantly less of a concern now. Plus... symptomless people are said to be less likely to transmit to others, provided the people involve practice simple basic hygiene. So the answer is.... practice good hygiene .... whoever the hell you are.
  13. In my company, the company heads sent everyone home as of the close of business yesterday. The key reason for doing that is to keep everyone off of mass transit. A few of us will visit the office solo each week if there’s a reason to do so and can drive themselves in. It also depends on the overall situation. So not locking down. But definitely restricting contact. A lot.
  14. Yeah. That occurred to me. Barter stock. But for this issue...it seems less probable. EMP strike.... ? Much more likely. But then again... With something thst sends us back to the stone age.... I might want s life time supply of ammo.
  15. I would expect that food-type groceries, which are nearly all domestically produced, are fine at this time. Other hard goods ..like TP. And cleaning products... that has a lower turnover rate in normal times, will be sporadically available.
  16. Its sad isn’t it. Even when we should be working together as human beings, he goes out of his way to take irrational shots at Trump. The marxists know no bounds in their quest for power. The lackeys of marxists know no bounds in their efforts to atone for their misguided white guilt. “I know black people...please like me!” Maybe this thread in the Prep forum needs to get back on track.
  17. Each Walmart gets a minimum of Three 53’ trailers a day. Pretty much everything in grocery, paper products and chem and personal care gets dropped every day. If you have a 24 hr one near you, go before sunrise.
  18. How much ammo can someone who was never a Ranger or SEAL go through in a gun fight? I mean... I’m all for having a Really good stock, but if you’re expecting a gun fight in a few weeks, why buy 6 cases? Seems like it would be over after a mag or two.
  19. You would have to ask someone who is a professional in this field. Seems average in my lay opinion.
  20. It helps prevent new clusters that result from inbound travelers. Better than not doing it...but would have in hindsight, been better to have done it already. Apparently, the NBA season has been cancelled. (yawn) The getting it right part is matching the strains that will come out. As I understand it, this year was a pretty good match for the 4 strains being seen. Its not about how effective it is when it matches.
  21. I did not know that. I wonder if Italians are hoarding TP? I still don’t get why TP is being cleaned out. I mean..its good for the rest of us in terms of product availability that they are largely ignoring their food supply. They think the supply chain will be disrupted...but only for TP. Unreal...
  22. When I walk through NYC I notice people tend to space themselves apart more in recent days.
  23. The other factor related to the mortality rate is that this has no vaccine. With a vaccine the rate would be much lower. Maybe comparable to typical flu outbreaks. Yes, thats a lot of people at risk. Context, flu infection rates.... % or people who get the flu... varies from 3% to 15% per year. Nowhere near everyone. But a lot some years.
