Thanks everyone, I now have a plan!

Gotcha! Now I understand the point of the inner belt.
-
Do you mean IDPA?
-
I am looking to get into IDPA/USPSA competitions involving both handgun only and multi-gun events. My understanding is that IDPA has a requirement that the belt be through the pant loop, while USPSA and others do not have this requirement and thus allow duty type belts. Correct? Something like the Safariland model 032 belt looks interesting to me because of the modularity and locking connectors, but that obviously wouldn't work for IDPA, and being able to attach accessories (mag holders) would have different needs (loop for IDPA vs locks). For those of you that shoot the multiple disciplines, how do you handle this? Multiple belts and attachments types specialized for each sport? Duty type belt that can use the loop attachments, so you have the same mag attachments for both sports? What gear do you guys use and why? Thanks!

Target practice on private property
YankeeSC replied to YankeeSC's topic in New Firearms Owners Corner
Great suggestion! It's Clinton Twp: http://www.clintontwpnj.com/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=1248 Page 7 has the discussion. Apparently there is no ordinance. -
My parents own 2 acres of wooded property, backed by hundreds of acres of wooded/mountainous unoccupied land. What does NJ law say about having a private target range? I know some municipalities have local laws about the discharge of firearms, and I believe their town does not (of course I will confirm that with the local PD).

I was also considering the Ruger, but ending up going with the Windham Weaponry SRC (NJ compliant - retails for under $1000) http://www.windhamweaponry.com/pdf/NewTechSeets/R16M4FTPT-MA-8-12-16%20MSRP.pdf

FWIW, the Gen 1 will work with stripper clips, you can slide the spoon right onto the mag even though it doesn't have the slot like the Gen 2.
