Just saw this now. @mustang69 yes I bought a snowblower from you a few years ago. I'm about 2 hours north of you.

@Zeke you know you already have a standing invitation. Just wait till this whole virus thing blows over.

@Rufio.Weaponworks im 1.5 hrs from you, I'm right by Mt, Washington in the white mountians. After things clear up this summer I plan on spending a little time down by you on the southern maine coast/NH seacoast.

@vjf915 is also in NH over by the border of VT

We should all have a NJ expat meet up one day. I dont have any club to shoot at but I have plenty of woods and a gravel pit that we can shoot it.

I hope that time spent involves going to a certain range in Epping

You get pulled over a lot? Don’t be a street racer or drug dealer or other miscreant type

This. I swear do people not realize what is locked in your trunk isn’t the cops business? If you get pulled over and your guns are securely locked in the trunk do you think they’re gonna know if you don’t tell them?

seriously you have a right to remain silent, use it.

  3. get a lawyer, they still have a job to do.

I don't have my FFL for retail sales, i have it because I write in the gun industry, when I was only living in NJ it made getting product a lot easier from manufacturers without needed to neuter the rifle and be able to send it back to them when the loan was up. Now that my license is in Maine I can get suppressors without them sitting in NFA Jail, NJ won't allow FFL's to keep suppressors on their books, but you can have SBR's and Machine Guns

  4. Best of luck, I transferred my licenses to my property in Maine, there is a lot less bullshit to deal with up there. The application process with the ATF is much faster than the application process through the NJSP. Another reason why it made moving everything to Maine worthwhile, local governent doesn't interfere with federal guidelines

  5. now that I'm a Maine resident I'm supposed to get an out of state FID card but I'm not going to. I spend equal amount of time between the 2 states but my driver's license is for Maine. If I'm gonna buy a new gun I'm doing it up there where I don't need to buy something that's been neutered. Only disadvantage I think I while I'm in NJ is being able to buy handgun ammo in person, I can just drive 30 minutes to Easton and do that. I also know I can't bring any NFA items to NJ that aren't class 1's.

If you are sucking fumes, the exhaust is designed wrong.  It is supposed to be blown from behind you downrange where it is filtered and exhausted.  How is a place that is filtering and venting air worse than say going to the super market where there is ZERO airflow?  I often go to my range and am the only one in there.  Not touching face (unless you like the taste of lead). Hand washing at end of session yep.

Sounds like the safest place on earth,

Well a few of the indoor places I’ve been in have been that way, idk what to tell you lol.

  7. ranges will be open soon enough if they keep pressing but I'm against opening Indoor ranges. Most if not all have special high pressure HVAC systems for the range to remove lead fumes. Some of the indoor ranges I've gone to the airflow has been strong enough where you're still inhaling the blowback, if there are shooters there unknowingly carrying the virus the risk of pollenating others is pretty high.

I'm not opposed to outdoor clubs being open, after all they're not public businesses.

  8. I have property in South Berwick, Maine. I'm up there 2 weeks a month with my work schedule. If you guys are up there when I am I'd be happy to meet up, we can shoot at the club I belong to or honestly anywhere with open land.

For the time being I'm staying in NJ until this blows over because there is even less open in Maine/NH than there is down here.

  9. I just found out the Range I go to in North Berwick Maine is closed under their governor's stay at home guidelines and it's also a private club. Along with that all the gun stores are closed too, I'm really surprised considering how pro-gun Maine is, then again you can shoot just about anywhere.

  10. in the near future you might find ACOG's cheap, now that the Army switched to the Sig Tango 1-6 and the Marine Corps is switching to the VCOG I think Trijicon might discontinue the ACOG.

I agree with High Exposure, you can get Accupoint's and Accupower's for a lot less. I have the Accupower 1-8, has a FFP reticle like a red dot, nice 28mm objective lens for better visibility. I like the Accupower's reticle options over the Accupoint along with better windage and elevation turrets. The only downsides are the battery life and with a 34mm tube it's a tank on most rifles, I run mine on a AR-10 and it's perfect for that application, not ideal on a AR-15 for me atleast.

Outside of the VCOG and ACOG you can get most trijicon optics for less than their listing price. Accupower 1-8 has a list of $1800, I see them selling for $1100-1200 regularly. I've been told the new Credo line is replacing the Accupower so you might find Accupower's even cheaper.

I have both an Accupower 1-8 and a Nightforce NX8, it's tough to say which one I like better. I can give you a comparison between the 2 if you're interested but if you're not looking to spend $1500+ on a Nightforce, go with a Trijicon.

Yeah. I was thinking that as well - But didn’t want it to be construed as some kind of veiled dig....

Folks have gotten touchy around here lately....

is there a big fake market for the PRO? I know anything could be a counterfeit these days, I figured the PRO was inexpensive enough as it is there wouldn't be much of a fake market. T1, T2 definitely.

Define reliability?  500 rounds? 1,000?  5,000?  Put a few hundred through the Troy and a bit less through DSI, no stoppages.

Common issues are the last round bolt hold open but that is magazine related, applies to most AR PCCs.

One thing to keep in mind is that these are blowback operated so all are going to be fairly reliable.

Recoil was about the same, maybe a tad less on the Troy.

The DSI has a few upgrades such as billet upper and lower, nicer charging handle, ambi controls.

Troy will be more durable as it is forged receivers, but they look a tad plane.  They also come with sights.

I think both also had less recoil than the Scorpion and both guns weight less.

Keep in mind, biggest difference... in the "non-nfa" configuration, you have adjustable pistol brace.  With Scropion... will be a neutered stock and longer barrel.

Magazine choice is also there to consider.  Troy/DSI and MM?  Use Glock mags.  Scorpion uses their own mags.  There are A LOT more Glock mags out there and cheap cheap cheap.

The Troy gun will be avail to try (in 9mm) on Tuesday at Garden State shooting Center so come on down and try it.
