  1. Most often the guns I want to buy are hard to find. I use the NJGF Price Request, and usually get 4-5 "can't get that" responses, so I try. I almost always buy it now for the lowest total price including shipping, and GunForHire charges me $20 for the transfer including NICS. So for my, GB is the way to find guns. NO dealers I called last month had a reasonable stock of S&W 357 revolvers; I had my pick of 500 models on GB. Next purchase is a pair of Ruger New Vaquero 357 with sequential numbers. I'll try to buy locally, but will end up buying on GB. When I do want something more common, I go to my local stores, usually the Rahway FAGs or Mastodon if I can.
  2. I have both the Glock and the M9A1. I like them both. That said, the M9A1 is my favorite handgun, and it's also the one I shoot best with.
  3. They are absolutely harming me. They are a) single handedly causing a major nationwide firm to change their gun policy, b) they are making all legal/rational/sane gun owners look bad, c) they are providing fodder for anti-carry people like few people ever have.
  4. None of them have drawn their weapons, unlike the aholes at Chipotle. I'm pretty sure the nutjob on the right in the picture should have been arrested for brandishing. I would have supported that. He's a dangerous lunatic.
  5. It doesn't concern me at all, and I'm not a member. But, all of a sudden I feel like commenting!
  6. F those morons carrying AR-15's into a Chipotle. If that's what OC means, I'm against OC. I walk into a store with two crazy looking guys holding AR's I'm walking out. Did you see the pictures of those aholes? The one guy is holding the rifle up, hand along the trigger guard, slack in his sling, while grinning. Actually, it's pretty amazing that no one shot him, because he sure looks like a mass murderer to me, and I like guns. These guys have done more harm to your rights than any left-winger this week. F them. I'm eating lunch at Chipotle today.
  7. I wasn't really interested in this video because it sounded stupid, and I hate watching "viral videos" when everyone is all in a froth, and I don't really care about cats. But this morning while getting dressed for work watching the Today show they had the family on and showed the video. WOW. Much cooler/wilder than I expected. What a cat! They showed the boy's leg; he had many quite serious wounds, two of which required 10 stitches. Not life threatening, but serious enough that you know the dog wasn't trying to play. Amazing video.
  8. We have a lot of gun people in Fanwood and Scotch Plains. I used to split my time between Monmouth County R&PC and Cherry Ridge (both exactly 45 minutes away, one north and one south) but have been spending more and more time at Gun For Hire / Woodland Park. That's 28 minutes from my house in Fanwood and is a fantastic place. No doubt John Fox will also chime in and remind us that the Lake Island club is close by too!
  9. Some nice Coney Island Whitefish in those waters.
  10. That's a perfect MASH moment; you're very quick to have remembered that! When I watch old episodes of MASH I'm amazed at how heavy-handed the laugh tracks are.
  11. It would be fun to bring a bunch of slingshots and demand the $50 each.
  12. Ha, that's pretty good. You can live pretty far out into the suburbs of NJ and get into lower NYC in less than 45 minutes. It's more than an hour more if you want to live in the very closest parts of PA. Commuting from PA into NYC is absolute hell, and you will hate your life. I drive to Liberty State Park every morning. Takes 25 minutes from Rt 78 around exit 40. Parking is $7. Take the $5 ferry to World Financial Center / WTC in around 12 minutes. On a good morning I leave the house at 6:30am and I'm at my desk by 7:20am. Going home about the same. Move to PA for many reasons, but commuting into NYC from there is nuts.
  13. There is also this clause in the "named" section: Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder such as the "Street Sweeper" or "Striker 12"Which seems like it might apply to "any" shotgun, even lever or pump since semi-auto isn't specified in that section...
  14. I started making a shotgun version of my "Is It Legal in NJ" flowchart, and realize that I don't understand the rules. Specifically, I'm reading the law here: http://www.njsp.org/info/pdf/firearms/062408_title13ch54.pdf For shotguns, there are two definitions of assault shotguns in the definition section of NJAC 13:54-1.2 Definitions (besides those listed by name in Section 1). Section 2 lists shotguns in paragraph iii: A semi-automatic shotgun that has at least two of the following:A folding or telescoping stock; A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; A fixed magazine capacity in excess of six rounds; and/or An ability to accept a detachable magazine Section 3 then goes on: A semi-automatic shotgun with either a magazine capacity exceeding six rounds, a folding stock or a pistol grip; So, Section 2 seems to be like the rifle, where you can have one evil feature but not two, but then Section 3 says right out that you can't have magazine capacity > 6, a folding stock or a pistol grip. What's going on there? Are Sections 2 and 3 in conflict with each other, or am I not understanding? Thanks.
  15. I only have Macs at home and business, so we use Omnigraffle. If I was on a Windows machine I'd use Visio. Both are easy to use to make flow charts.
  16. Version 3 adds specific wording for bolt-action, since that's probably the most common non-semiautomatic rifle action, and adds break-open action rifles. I lumped lever, pump and break-open into the same question.
  17. Re #2, can some one show me the law, or AG letter? I've heard a few people say this finger thing, but have never seen any official reference to it. Also, whose pinky? Mine is 2x the size of my wifes.
  18. Bolt action rifles are considered in the 4th question, but since I broke out lever and pump it would make sense.
  19. The firing pin hits the primer, not the case, so the material of the shell should have no effect on the firing pin. They may have been making a comment about the primers.
  20. Version 2, fixes the grenade launcher confusion at the bottom of the evil features section, and adds a handy note reminding you that your magazines have to be 15 or less...
  21. Is that what they use in CA to avoid the removable magazine aspect of their AW laws? I think how it affects the chart depends on whether or not NJ would consider a rifle with that as having a removable magazine?
