  1. Thanks! I'll shoot you a PM with my cell # just in case something comes up.
  2. Gotcha. So if any other member is showing up at 12:30 (or 1) and isn't already signing someone else in, please shoot me a PM or something. Otherwise, I'll show up at 2 and hopefully more members will be there by then. I'm excited
  3. Hey guys, So, it looks like the stars are aligning in my favor, and short of weather issues (I dont mind a few sprinkles.. storms like the ones we've had lately are another issue), I'm pretty sure I'm going to be able to make it. 2 quick questions just to make sure I have all the details and to clear up some confusion on my part: 1. what time should the guests show up? 12:30? or 2? 2. What guns should I bring aside from the shotgun? I have my unfired AR that I'd like to put a few rounds thru, but don't wanna take away time from the clay shooters if no one else is shooting rifle. I also have a couple 9mm and 22 handguns if anyone is gonna be hitting those ranges. 2a. Worst case scenario, I could always leave the rifle/handguns in the car if we don't use them right? (I'm assuming I don't really have to worry about someone breaking into my car up there, right? :? ) Thanks
  4. At 11am today Dick's in Hanover had: .38 (remington) .40 (dont remember brand) .22 (remington bulk HPs and CCI Mini Mag) .223 (remington - 20 and 50 count - the 50 count box was $31) 30-06 (dont remember brand) Pretty sure I saw a couple boxes of .308 (think it was ultramax) and 300win Plenty of shotgun ammo no .45 or 9mm.

    noveske

Just a couple things to add to what's already been said: One of the things that makes the Noveske N4 series of ARs a little different that everyone else is the steel they use for their barrels. If I remember correctly, most AR barrels are made from 4150 steel, where as the Noveske N4 barrels are made from the same steel as the M249 SAW/LMG. This is a much stronger alloy, but weighs the same as barrels made out of 4150. Noveske also uses 2-3 times the amount of chrome lining found in most chrome lined barrels. The combination of the stronger steel and extra chrome lining equals less risk of the barrel overheating and a longer barrel life. This, generally, is only a concern for people that shoot 1000s of rounds a year. Regarding ADCO and NJ-ifying Noveske guns - copy/paste from ADCO: "We do NOT disassemble uppers assembled by Noveske. He uses loctite on everything, and you cant pay us enough to take them apart." This may or may not be an issue depending on the type of work you need done. Just a heads up. Anyway, all that said, they have an excellent reputation, and you would undoubtedly be happy with one. Are they worth the extra money? Maybe. You're paying a slight premium for the name, but also for the reputation of quality associated with the name. I came this -> . <- close to buying an N4 Basic upper a couple days ago but decided at the last minute that I needed a few other things more at the moment. I'm sure I'll regret passing on it in a month or two when I start putting together an AR lower.
  6. A little late to this thread, and it seems to have gone past the original "focus" issue, but thought this might be helpful to illustrate front sight focus: Target Focus (generally not considered the proper way to use sights): Front Sight Focus:
  7. So, I decided to go the mechanic route. I just don't trust myself to mess with something as important as brakes. As it turns out, I was at the DMV renewing the inspection on the Jeep this morning and ran into and old friend that recommended a shop that was 10 minutes from me, so I took it in. The rear drums were extremely dirty (and pretty rusty) and the front rotors were warped and pitted. A few hundred bux later, and I know have acceptable breaking I'd like to thank all of you for your suggestions, shop recommendations, and offers of help.
  8. Sadly, this is exactly what happened with the order I just placed. 2 of the 4 items were out of stock. One of them was specifically listed in stock. The other didn't have any indication of being in stock or not. Oh well - not the end of the world. The 2 things that were in stock were the more important things in the order. Now just gotta see how long it takes for them to ship the in stock stuff.
  9. They def don't sink to the floor. They just don't feel "crisp" for lack of a better word. I'll hit the brakes and they'll engage fine, but it feels like the car takes an extra 5-10 feet to stop, if that makes sense.
  10. Really? Who's bright idea was that Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Gonna take a closer look at the brakes. Garage doors are expensive Maybe I should just drive the damned thing more and get used to its "quirks"
  11. Bloomingdale seems about 30 minutes away from me in Bloomfield. I'll see if anyone chimes in with anyone closer and will let you know Malsua. Thanks!
  12. Looks like a good value for $19. Thanks for the review!
  13. Don't really know to be honest I picked up a used Cherokee about a month ago (without taking it to a mechanic first - dumb, I know), and it's got some odd things going on with it. I'm pretty sure it needs to have the brakes bled, cuz the brakes are pretty spongy. But the thing that's really buggin me is the position of the gas pedal in relation to the brake pedal. Gas pedal seems WAY too close to the firewall in my opinion. Either that or the brake pedal is way to high. With my foot just resting on the gas pedal I can pretty much slide my foot underneath the brake. Makes having to stop quickly a bit interesting I'm not sure if it's just how Jeep pedals are set up (never had one before) or if something is wrong with it. Went thru the Haynes manual and can't find anything about adjusting brake height or gas pedal height, so figured a "professional" would know best. But I have an inherent distrust of mechanics from previous bad experiences and was hoping someone here might know someone who's not gonna try to rip me off and find 30 other things wrong with it
  14. Does anyone have a good Jeep mechanic up north?
  15. Handguns too? I'm not sure my tactical corolla can handle all the toys
  16. If both is an option, it's always the correct answer
  17. mini-14s... 22s... maybe I should bring out the AR if I end up coming

    Mariner Finish

Found this on gunbroker and thought it might be helpful: US Mail: An unlicensed person can ship a rifle or shotgun by US Mail. Unlicensed persons cannot ship a handgun by US Mail. Postal regulations allow the Post Office to open your package for inspection. Ammunition cannot be shipped by US Mail. You can search the US Post Offer Postal Explorer site for specific USPS regulations regarding firearms and ammunition. FedEx: FedEx will only ship firearms via their Priority Overnight service. Ammunition must be shipped as dangerous goods. FedEx Ground: FedEx Ground will transport and deliver firearms (excluding handguns) as defined by the United States Gun Control Act of 1968, between areas served in the U.S. Ammunition must be shipped as dangerous goods. UPS: UPS will accept handgun shipments by Next Day Air only. Rifles and shotguns can be shipped by UPS ground service. UPS will accept shipments of ammunition. Most other shippers will no longer accept firearm shipments. Airborne and Roadway have specifically prohibited firearm shipments. http://www.gunbroker.com/Support/Suppor ... &NoCount=1 This might help too: http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resour ... earms.html And lastly: http://www.mossberg.com/content.asp?ID= ... on=service
  19. wish it was that easy - they're visiting from oversees. I can be rude sometimes, but not that rude
  20. Thanks for the offers guys. I may just take you up on them to see the difference with a long barreled gun. If I come, it'll mostly be to check out CR and to meet the North Jersey crew Shooting is just a secondary objective heh Dam... as much as I like my family, I really hope they leave town early so I can make it up to this BTW Do #7 1/2 shells work for clay shooting?
  21. dam - when you actually break out the math like that it really does make sense to reload! Once again, nicely done, and thanks for taking the time to put together the videos. Oh, and nice sig line
  22. Well when you put it that way In all seriousness, put me down as a tentative. I have some relatives in town that are supposed to be coming over to the house on Sunday, but they may have to leave town earlier than expected. So depending on what ends up happening with them, I may try to swing on up. I will post a definite yay/nay Saturday. Quick question: I really need to at least try out the 590 I just got, but, with the shorter length of pull stock I have on it plus the ghost rings, it's prob pointless for clay shooting. So, assuming I can make it on Sunday, is there somewhere to shoot a shotgun at CR that doesn't involve clays?
