  1. So from what was said before, a 45 in the SIG 220 is going to feel like a 9mm - that gun is heavy and I like it. Pics coming soon in another thread ...
  2. Yup, someone here loves me:icon_twisted:
  3. Don't want to change the barrel just to put on a scope. So, I went ahead and bought this from brownells. No modifications to rifle ...
  4. Anyone has experience with Biothane sling like this?
  5. Dumb question. Can a standard M1 be converted to M1D? Of course, that would mess up the stock M1. Don't flame me, just asking ... On a related note, can I install the M1D style flash hider on my M1? Is that legal?
  6. thanks guys! I will be positive in about about a year, nah:icon_mrgreen:
  7. Sorry, I didn't get to an outdoor range yet, just went to BA last week and shot about 4 enblocks. Nice balance of course, but it's heavy!! Need to use a sling to hold steady. With my eyesight (w/ bifocals now) I am having a tough time. Haven't sighted in yet. Will try with a rifle rest outdoors for accuracy, hopefully this week.
  8. That's axeman_g taking the pics and he knows about the Garand thumb!
  9. I own and bulk of my experience is with 9mm and .40S&W. I have also shot .357 sig, .38 spl, .357 magnum, etc., but the focus of my post is on the primary calibers used today in modern handguns. Some people say .40 is snappier. Snappier than a .45acp!? I will be shooting my recently acquired Sig 220 in .45acp and will give you my impressions. I have heard the boom from a .45acp ..., so I know what to expect. I think the perceptions of snappier (or felt recoil) are based on first experiences (or very limited) ... what do you think? Please rank your rounds based on felt recoil and also indicate your level of experience with it (how long, guns used, etc.) I will convert this post into a poll based on responses here.
  10. I still don't see the advantage in a red dot + magnifier setup, other than being able to take out the magnifier if it's not needed (or flip it out, etc.) ... modern scopes are lighter too. Your post doesn't reveal anything new. Thanks for the reply though. As you said, it's subjective. I think there is simply a coolness factor in people's decisions about optics, more do-dads the better. I like things simple. I will have to just try it myself and decide.
  11. I get the fixed vs. variable magnification, etc. ... but that's not the crux of my question. Keeping aside magnification ... my question, put differently is ... what's the advantage of a (red dot + 3x magnifier) vs (a 3x illuminated scope)? In addition, a variable scope adds more flexibility, so what's the former setup for?
  12. If we compare such (LED based / non-HWS) red dot + 3x (or 5x) magnifier, how is this functionally different than, for example, a 1-4x illuminated reticle scope? Of course, with a scope, one can't just use a red-dot, but at 1x scope setting it's equivalent isn't it? What am I missing? Educate me.

    PTR91..15rd mags

I bought a C91 from junkmanted, which came w/ blocked 15/20 round mags. They actually hold 14 ... I think he got it done in PA, check w/ him.
  14. btw. CDDN has some good deals on holsters, mags, mag pouches and bunch of other goodies. Also, free shipping over $200, + some small freebies.
  15. Thanks all for your input. I will go with Bill Springfield's service.
  16. I am comparing the trigger on my Stag 2 to the one on my bolt action marlin in 30-06 ... not a fair comparison, I know. The stag trigger feels heavy (guessing 6-8 lbs) and doesn't have a clean let-off. Also, there is some gritty feel to it. I am not into competition rifle shooting, so I don't want to plunk down $170+ on a AR trigger unless I have to. I was considering buying a replacement 2 stage trigger (Geissele / Timney / RRA), but decided to hold off since I haven't explored the gunsmith option ... I would like to find out what a gunsmith could do to a stock single stage trigger. What's the typical cost range? Any recommendations of gunsmiths near Woodbridge, 07095?
  17. Yeah, got the oil and lock too. I got everything I expected (except for the 10rd instead of 15rd mag). Haven't shot mine yet. Just bought 4 x 15 rd mags at CDDN for $29.99, they are $44 at sig store!
  18. Mags 1x15rd, 1x10rd, cleaning kit. I was supposed to get 2x15rd ... Also, came w/ extra plastic grip without lanyard loop, but it's smooth on the rear of grip so didn't install it.
  19. New SP2022, see here. I got lucky and got it for less on GB!
  20. Thanks for the link. Good to know!
  21. Tony, I was hinting for you to invite me on the feast!! Next time you go pheasant hunting, do invite me. My wife wants to know how they taste ...
  22. A while ago I watched a documentary on history channel that talked about the Freemasons and implied links to some of the founders of US ... specific symbols that appear on our currency, etc. Fascinating ...
  23. Is this it? Price went up!?
  24. Link to the 36 gun safe please. I want to know the dimensions and inside layout.
