  1. I think people got surprised by how many Republicans voted for the crap in New York too... I was skeptical in the beginning but this crap isn't going to stop any time soon unless SCOTUS intervenes, and that could take years at the rate they do things.
  2. Nope, I'm more worried they'll make it worse. They won't want to be out done by a bunch of Benny's.
  3. If you want to shoot a rifle at Brick Armory it's like $350 a year to shoot at a 25yrd range. CJRPC is a bargain compared to that, I'm going to see about joining probably in March.
  4. I don't think anyone is unseating Christie right now unless he commits a major mistake between now and election time.
  5. I don't trust the media either My biggest worry with him is that he's trying to get re-elected here, and a good portion of NJ is seriously anti-gun and of those who aren't they only care about their bolt action hunting rifles and shotguns. If he wants a chance as president, he NEEDS to be re-elected in NJ.
  6. I told you guys that no matter what he said previously, he was anti gun and would be wiling to pass new restrictions. I take this statement as him wanting other things as well, but he'd be more than willing to have new bans. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ® on TODAY said that despite New Jersey having some of the toughest gun laws in the country, that banning guns is not enough. “I’m willing to have that conversation,” Christie said of a federal ban on powerful, high-capacity weapons, “but you’ve got to deal with these other issues.” And who knows, maybe I'm reading to much into it but I don't trust him where guns are concerned.
  7. Huh, my town has never asked for new references. Heck, they'll mail me my permits so I don't have to come pick them up
  8. More than likely it was reported as stolen, hence the person he bought if from wasn't the owner.
  9. As long as you aren't in the business of selling ammo you should be ok. Basically if it's a one time deal or something you do once in a blue a moon, you're ok. If you plan to do it often you could be considered in "the business" of selling ammo in which case you'll need the proper permits.
  10. SAF is a national group who has been ignoring NJ for a while now, kind of like the NRA (ok, not nearly as badly as the NRA I guess. They've been involved in a couple of NJ things). NJ2AS is focused on NJ gun rights and fixing NJ's stupid laws.
  11. Slim picking at best. I saw a sale on here of a used Smith and Wesson that's worth $550 max ($650 new) go for over $1000 with people asking to be "in line" if it didn't go through. I was going to buy a Sig556 from Shore shot last week, but they increased the price $250 overnight. Found that pretty shady to take advantage like that and bought the exact same rifle elsewhere for $500 less than what they had it marked up. The sad thing is, 2 months from now once the all this settles down there will probably be a lot of people with buyers remorse. When the gun they just bought is selling for a few hundred less than they paid, they'll be pissed. For the record, I think they'll be a lot of chest thumping for the next month, but the NRA will flex its muscle and it won't make it past the House.
  12. Politicians in this state have been winning elections without the "gun lobby" in this state for decades. Are you telling me you'd vote for someone like Weinburg just to spite Christie if she decided to run for Governor? In this state, it'll be the choice between bad and worse.
  13. If you look at Christie's career, he's always been in favor of gun laws. I think if it made it to his desk right now he'll sign it to avoid the fallout he'd receive in NJ after the CT shooting, which is a very liberal state for the most part. The only reason he wouldn't is because if he plans to run for president next term, he'll not want to piss off the NRA too much.
  14. I'm pretty sure he's going to run for Governor, several of his interviews have hinted at it.
  15. The argument with Shore Shot originated from them changing rules on the fly without any attempt at notification or rectification with the attitude "sorry, but it sucks to be you". They eliminated any reason to want to be member, because they make a hell of a lot more money off walk-ons. Before someone says "you get better prices on ammo!". Their ammo prices are pretty atrocious whether you're a member or not, you just get raped less. I'd probably still buy a gun from them though if they had it for a price I liked. I much prefer the people over at Brick Armory, but god help you if you order anything from them.
  16. We need to DITCH the electoral college, it's a stupid system. There are a lot of people who don't bother voting because of it, seriously. Why vote if you're in a state with 3 points like Hawaii and Alaska when you know it's not really going to make difference? Go to majority vote wins, that way every single vote matters.
  17. First off those vote numbers only show how many old white guys died in the last 4 years, so as a percentage Romney might be higher and... Oh noes, the stock market is down 2%! Really? Our stock market his been bouncing around all over the place for the last 10 years, big deal. Get back to me when it's down 10%.
  18. I think they are interested in real wars not fictional ones.
  19. I told them I didn't feel like committing a felony and that if they start right now, they should be able to buy a gun in about a month and half or 2 months.
  20. Does anyone else have this after the storm? Several people who thought owning a gun was one step worse than human sacrifice have been asking to borrow any "extra's" I might have until things get back to normal. It's amazing how people's attitudes change when it becomes a matter of protecting their families. A few have had people looking through their windows late at night wearing dark clothes with their faces covered so I don't blame them. Who knows, maybe some good will come out of this storm after all.
  21. heh, sucker. Moving to NJ is grounds for divorce in my book. If I could I'd move the hell out in a heartbeat. Join NJ2AS, about the only organization actively trying to fix things.
  22. Read this on a post in some anti article or other. It's good rebuttal. by Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret) Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it. In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some. When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force. The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender. There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat--it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed. People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly. Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser. People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker If both are armed, the field is level. The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply wouldn't work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable. When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act. By Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret.)
  23. A lot of shops price guns low to get people in the door and make it up with ammunition or range time. The main reason is internet gun sales, places like Buds really drove down prices.
  24. This almost feels like a response to the earlier failed bill where they tried to give the AG the right to outright ban certain types of ammo in the "interest of public safety"
  25. Wait until your 21, or you're just wasting their time and yours. Sig p226 or 229 CZ-75 Colt 1911 Springfield 1911 Sig 1911 (these are real nice right now for the price) Ruger GP100 Dan Wesson 1911 if you have the money IWI Jerico (aka Magnum Research Baby eagle, it's a CZ-75 variant)
