What township ?

From what Ive read from some boys down that way , thats all the gun you need to penetrate the skull, any more and the hide gets unneccesary damage. The hide is what brings in the big $$$$$$$$. On a side note , the trigger and muzzle dicipline could have used some improvement! :shock:

First shot I hit him behind the shoulder but about 4" too high for the heart was about 30 yrds , the next three were in the 20 to 25 yrd range.

Just checked , Hornady has a 300 grn XTP mag for 460 applications!

I still wasnt sure of the law , but I cased and locked the gun as per the fed law stuffed the case in my duffle bag and took it anyway. May have been a dumb move but I wasnt carrying concealed just transporting it. ! The 460 is actually .452 diameter as is the 45LC and 454 Casull. The only difference is case length and the case heads are substantially thicker in the 460. Thats why you can shoot 45LC and 454 Casull out of the 460 handgun. I believe they have 250 ( or there abouts) grn FTX and up to 300 grn maybe 350 grn lead bullets.

The hunt was in Michigan at Ted Nugents SunRize Safari's ' I was there with about 25 other folks who most are members of Teds message board . Its an annual hunt that gets bigger every year. I took the hog with some 200 grn Hornady FTX bullets I loaded over 47 grns of Win 296 that have a muzzle velocity of about 2100 fps. The hog was over 400 lbs and tough as hell. It took 4 shots to kill it and 3 were in the zone. I think I may not have gotten enough penetration with the 200 grns. I went with lighter and faster , where as I should have maybe went slower and heavier! All in all it was a great time with some great folks.

There is nothing like the satisfaction of taking deer with loads you've worked up , tested and tinkered with until you've found the perfect recipe for your combo of rifle ,bullet and powder.

I got a few buds that are bringin handguns , but they are reciprocal and have CCW issurd in their home states , I could use one of theirs , but its just not the same , it would be like dancing with another guys wife!

The laws are very vague! They dont refer to hunting at all , just bringing a handgun into the state.

I got a S&W 460 that I want to take , but Im getting conflicting info about taking a handgun into Michigan , being a NJ resident.Something about needing a CCW and reciprosity to cross into Michigan , My Fla. non resident CCW will not suffice. Again our stinkin liberal politicians and their gun laws hurt the law abiding citizen.

The cans do help, fish and game has been trying to get these hunts going but keep being held back, the bear population is getting crowded and not controlling it is going to put it over the top and you will start to see more and more of these stories.. Yeah they help somewhat , I live a few miles from what they refer to as "ground zero" I can tell you from what Ive seen with my own eyes , the cans are hit and miss.

Wednesday Ill be leavin for a hog hunt in Michigan at Uncle Teds, Sunrize Safaris. Got a gang of about 25 goin from all over the country, This will be a hoot! Everything goes better with fresh pork! :mrgreen:

The bear proof cans are a crock! Ive seen bears across the street get into them all the time. Also it takes the sanitation companies longer to do their routes , each can has to be unscrewed. Id charge extra if it was my company. Common sense and a hunt will alleviate the bear problem some.
