  1. I'm not a fan of open carry either, have no desire to, but I don't think it should be illegal. It should be MY decision as an adult to say "I don't feel like open carrying because ______________ " not the government stepping in and making the decision for me. If people feel like open carrying, they should go right ahead and do so (where legal of course). The second amendment simply says "bear" and makes no distinction between open or concealed.
  2. On a pump action shotgun, I much prefer the standard factory "traditional" stock.
  3. No worries at all. You have a great attitude and I like the way you think.
  4. +1 for everything said by NJA2prez I am reposting this elsewhere. This is a great case to get behind and I would be willing to donate what little I can to this man's cause. As long as this case stands, it is a threat to the freedom and safety of every single law abiding gun owner in the state. What's next, someone gets into get into a fender bender, crooked cop sends them to a crooked judge, next thing you know you're facing almost a decade in jail for your locked, unloaded, NJ-compliant post-ban gun?
  5. I believe his DL also has a "dividing number" to separate him from his "evil twin" but the local PD never bothered to check DL# or Social Security Number, only name and address (lol) and then lie and blame it on the county and give him a year-long run-around instead. EDIT: Also not to mention, he was fingerprinted for the permit right? And the other guy has a "history of arrests" so he's been fingerprinted plenty of times too I'm sure. How did it not send up a flag that the prints for the two guys don't match? I have a feeling the OP lives in Mayberry
  6. Good man! I'm glad you didn't let him get away with his incompetence and am glad it was all sorted out.
  7. So, today I have read about..... A guy who had a locked, unloaded gun in his trunk transporting it from house to house, and was sentenced to 7 years in prison. A violent, self-admitted gang member who beat and seriously injured someone, and he will be out in less than a year. Gotta love the "justice" system huh?
  8. I'd hardly call waiting 11 months and having to spend god knows how long in courtrooms and hospitals and meeting with police chiefs missing who knows how many hours of work or other plans an "inconvenience" Social Security Number and the DMV also has a special number they assigned this guy years ago. 30 years ago when everything was on paper in filing cabinets I could understand. But that's just inexcusable in the digital age and shows incompetence on part of the investigators. The judge even said that. Notice that the NJSP had no trouble at all in determining who was the guy with a criminal record and who was not? I'm going to ignore your first sentence, and pretend you aren't actually naive enough to think that a felon with history of drug arrests would bother applying to the local PD to buy a registered handgun. Come to think of it,if the Shawn T. Moore with a criminal record felt like obtaining a handgun, he could have done so a hell of a lot quicker than the legitimate, law abiding Shawn T. Moore. Wait, that's not funny. it's just pathetic
  9. And this is why our gun permit system is a complete failure.
  10. Yes, the trend is very, very disturbing. It makes you wonder how can it possibly be that easy to have someone searched, arrested, their property confiscated and thrown in jail facing a laundry list of charges all it takes is a phone call? That's the scary part. What's to stop a crazy ex-girlfriend, a nasty jealous neighbor, to simply wait around the block, watch you leaving the house one saturday on the way to the range and call 911 saying "man in a green toyota headed down main street with a gun" next thing you know you're defending from bogus charges in court and your entire life is potentially ruined. Absolutely sickening.
  11. What's so abhorrent to me is not even the fact that they think an SKS or Mosin would make a good bullpup, but the fact that whoever designed these things is not even a good machinist. Rather than make stock-sets that fit to the contours and dimensions of the rifle, they went with this "steel taco" design that is just laughably bad. Look at their "Saiga 12 Bullpup" it literally just has the barrel inside a giant metal box.....rofl.....
  12. An interesting article from the Examiner about a guy serving 7 years in prison in NJ because the judge refused to tell the jury that the man was, in fact, covered under one of NJ's exemptions. This is a guy who called NJSP and asked how to transport his guns, did as he was told....and is sitting in a prison cell. http://www.examiner.com/gun-rights-in-national/how-can-new-jersey-imprison-a-gun-owner-who-broke-no-laws
  13. Looks like the gun is sandwiched in a steel taco. It doesn't get any more mall ninja than that. I didn't think it was possible to screw up an AK but CBRPS has apparently proven me wrong.... EDIT: Nowhere on the website can I find weight information. I have a feeling one of those monstrosities weighs damn near 11-14 lbs loaded..... Hey Maksim, check out the Bullpup Mosin Nagant :icon_lol:
  14. I am not in any way advocating breaking or ignoring any law. I used the restaurant example because many people are unaware just how easy it is to fall out of the exemption's narrow character and end up a felon. Has he never heard of the fourth amendment or something?
  15. KPD, you are aware the legislature will not change things, so then why do you not support this guy? Is this not an excellent test case for NJ's blanket ban on not being able to have a handgun outside the house unless under a few narrowly defined exceptions? Circumstances aside, he was not arrested for anything besides the unloaded locked handgun in his car while not on the way to a range/gun shop/hunting/home and without that bogus, unconstitutional law, he'd not be facing prison time right now. I'm not flaming you now, now that you've explained yourself I have a little better of an idea of who you are and am interested in your thoughts. Parker: It doesn't matter how much of an idiot this guy is, the law that may send him to prison is unconstitutional. I'm not really keen on putting people in prison because Parker's grandma would consider them" a blithering idiot" - that's not justice. It actually scares me that people on here of all places, are A-O-K with a guy going to prison for having a locked, unloaded gun in his vehicle 100 feet away because someone felt like "screwing him" and told the cops. I think our jails ought to be filled with people who use guns to shoot people or rob banks, not people who leave them locked and cased in their vehicle. But then again, that's an uncommon opinion around here I guess. Speaking of British grandmas, isn't that the same country that is now banning starter pistols and antique replicas, has kitchen knives locked up in the stores, and is putting people in prison for defending their homes from armed, violent attackers? The same country that has to have their Olympic pistol team practice in a different country because all handguns are illegal? No offense, but I don't consider a British person's opinion very useful when it comes to weapons. The bottom line: I doubt anyone would be laughing if they somehow found themselves facing felony prison time because they got into a car accident in a Burger King parking lot after the range and a judge decided to define for them what "reasonable deviation" means. Think that can't happen to you?
  16. Let me guess, you went to Bullet Hole and they treated you like garbage? Do yourself a favor, take your money elsewhere. Like Maksim said, it's their business and they can act how they want. But it's your money and you can (and should) take it elsewhere. If half their customers walked out and spent their money at more friendly places, I bet you their attitude would change real quick because the bills aren't going to pay themselves. "Every dollar you spend is a vote for the way you want the world to be"
  17. Which is exactly why you should be supporting people like this guy who was arrested. The legislature will not change things, only appellate decisions of cases like these will. This particular case would make an excellent test case in a higher court. But of course you'd rather curse the guy out and make stupid comments about him. Also, no one here has yet shown the "compelling reason" needed for a blanket-ban on guns in cars with a few narrow exceptions that NJ has. Lots of talk about "bad judgement" but no explanation how the law as it stands is constitutional. I will accept their silence on the question as the concession that the law is unconstitutional.
  18. As usual, the only person standing up for the ridiculous, unconstitutional laws we have is our not-so-friendly neighborhood cop. As stated by the Supreme Court of the United States: Now that the second amendment is incorporated and applies to the states through due process, please demonstrate the compelling state interest that justifies not being able to have an inoperable handgun in your vehicle and why NJ has the need to do things differently than virtually the rest of the entire USA. One could drive from Nevada to Pennsylvania with an unloaded handgun locked in their car, why is it suddenly such an issue when they cross into NJ? On what basis?
  19. Exactly, it would not have. Another is that most NJ Gun Owners are unaware of the fact in the USA, not everyone who owns a gun is an enthusiast. Because NJ's permit system keeps casual buyers away, the vast majority of people who own guns in NJ are enthusiasts, hunters, competitors, collectors, etc. You don't have a lot of people who never owned a gun before and were curious and just had some spare cash one day and bought a handgun from a buddy at work "just because" to try it out and see what it's like going to a shooting range. NJ's system makes that virtually unheard of. Look at people on here learning about laws and renting guns and planning purchases months ahead while they wait for permits to come in the mail. My uncle lives in FL, you do not need any sort of permit to own a gun at your house, or keep it in your glovebox. He owns a gun and keeps it in his car/house, he figures "why not." After maybe a year of that, he figured he would make it easier and just get a CCW. It's no big deal down there. He's not a "gun guy" he's not an expert he's not sitting on the internet all day looking up gun laws and politics and new models because, he's not a "gun guy." In his state you can just buy a gun. Plenty of people in the USA own guns simply "for the hell of it" because their state does not needlessly restrict their constitutional rights. People buy an old .38 and leave it in the nightstand for a decade at a time. It's 100% realistic that he had no idea NJ may have even had these laws. When my uncle comes up here to visit a couple years ago I showed him one of my guns, he noticed the rifle magazines look a lot shorter than the ones he normally sees. I explained the permits and the assault weapons ban and the this and the that to him. His head was spinning. He had no idea we even have those laws here. Many people don't, many people genuinely have no idea the kind of **** you have to put up with here. To most Americans a gun is just a gun, you want one go to a sporting goods store and buy one, you don't like them you don't buy one.
  20. But just because something is illegal, does that make it wrong? And just because something is legal, does that make it right? NJ laws are out of line with both the constitution of the United States, the recent decisions of the Supreme Court, and are out of line with the laws of the vast, overwhelming majority of the nation. It may not work like that, but it should, and I look forward to the courts saying it will. I really hope SAF/NRA get behind this guy and help him appeal. Self defense IS a legitimate purpose, and his locked unloaded pistol 100 feet away posed a threat to no one. This man does not deserve to be in prison. That cell should belong to a real shithead who actually did something to hurt people. Oh who am I kidding, our judges don't put real criminals in jail, they waste their time with people like this.
