  1. If you have some info on the neighbood watch i would like to know as well
  2. Hi Everyone, Thank you for your wonderful responces. I got the radios all charged and was playing with them tonight. They seem to be very well made and the transmission comes in clear. I know some of you were talking about repeaters in order to obtain the full milage from the radio but where are the repeaters required to be placed? Do they have to be half way between you and the communications points? Ham radios is another interesting option to look into in the future but does this require a large antena and where do I obtain the liscense, can it be obtained through college courses? I also think the high band radios frequences on my radios require a liscense but I believe they would work without them? I do not want to break the law but why is a liscense required and what is the call sign registration used for? Any help would be appreciated.
  3. Hello Everyone, I am new to radios but my family and I recently renewed our NRA memberships and received $25 dollar Bass Pro Gift Card as a promotional. While looking over their website we came across a "Uniden Two Submersible/Floating 50 Mile Range FRS/GMRS Radios With 2 VOX Headsets And 2 Carabiners" which we went together and ordered. The radios went 50 miles and were waterproof which seemed impressive! After doing some research I realized that the long range radio only works using GMRS radio frequences which require a license from the FCC to operate. I was wondering if anyone has experiece with obtaining the licenses and if so was it hard to obtain and did it take a long time. Also what is your experience with the range of your radio? Also does anyone known a Uniden Radio and if so do you like the model you own?
  4. Liberty Safes seem to be pretty nice. I am not sure what part of NJ you are from but there is a Liberty Safe store located in MT. Laurel. http://libertysafesnj.com/ While I do not have personal experience with them they also offer very reasonable delivery fees. Their showroom hours are listed below. I hope this helps! 5. Thank you everyone for the replies. I sounds a bit to risky to switch to high ball ammo. I will just stick with low cost light ball ammo for now. I will def check out the prices from Aim. I have ordered from them in the past and they were wonderful. Glennp, Thoes mods you made are really nice! Could you let me know where you purchased your hardware and the brand names? Thank you for your help!
  6. Hello Everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows of a place to purchase 5 gallon long term food bags locally in South Jersey? If they are unavailable online does anyone know a good store online? Thank you for your help!
  7. Hello Everyone, I was just wondering if anyone on the forums owns a PSL54-C/Romak3? I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to be able to shoot heaver grain ammo out of this firearm without destroying it? The cost of ammo has risen a lot for 7.62x54 ammo and I can find high grain ammo cheaper, I really do not want to shoot corrosive ammo. Does anyone know of cheap non corrosive 7.62x54 low ball ammo? Also what types of mods have you done to your firearm has anyone purchased higher power scopes such as the ones made by Kalinka Optics?
  8. I did the same mods on my Beretta 92 Vertec and I did make a big difference. I also added a Wolf stainless guide rod and a wolf stock spring the gun is now smooth as glass!
  9. If the police cannot get there in time what about a screamer alarm? This would at least alert a few people.
  10. Hi Everyone, My brother and I went out shopping today and came across a really cool knife store in Williamstown, NJ called Just Knives. Their selection of high quality kitchen, folding and hunting knives was amazing! They also offer sharpening for a low cost with pickup the next day. I did not end up buying anything yet but if you are in the area its worth checking out. http://www.justknives101.com/
  11. I just wanted to mention that on Easter Sunday Harbor Freight is offering 25% off with a coupon. The coupon came through their email sales.
  12. This is truly horrible but I am glad that they were alright! I think surveillance is a good idea, they should also think about getting good locks for both the windows and doors. This really is an eye opener since Quinton Sportsmens Club is my home range and many of the people I know are from around the salem area. This situation truly bothers me since my grandfather is in his eighties and lives alone and I worry about his safety. They might also want to invest in an alarm system just in case these punks decide to come back at night. I hope this helps!
  13. I truly would like to thank everyone for your outstanding replies to my questions. We actually ending purchasing four bags! An OPMOD Tac Pack, BlackHawk Barrage Hydration Pack, a Redhead Deer Trail Pack from Bass Pro and lastly an army bag from a local Army Navy Store. Currently the products are on their way so I cannot wait to get them! Thank you everyone again. http://www.opticsplanet.net/opmod-tactical-back-pack.html http://www.opticsplanet.net/blackhawk-barrage-hydration-pack.html http://www.basspro.com/RedHead-Deer-Trail-Day-Packs/product/10202768/92596
  14. Hello Everyone, I was looking for a large miliary style backpack which I could carry a descent amount of gear for camping. I was hoping to keep it under $70 does anyone have any recommendation? Thank you for any help you can provide.
  15. I did some further research and found a thread on the AR15.com website which you can check out at the link below. One instance which caught my eye was the post at the bottom from ComBlocGunner which said that he fixed the slam fire issue with his Nagant by "I fixed mine. The problem I determined, was that the sear was not preotruding up into the reciever far enough to stop the cocking knob from moving forward. The solution was to take the sear out, and Dremel the underside of the reciever where the sear rests on it. After a little material had been ground out, the sear went farther up and now there are zero slamfires." I am not sure if this is same issue you are having but its a good place to start. http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=6&f=14&t=330964
  16. Hello, I also have a M44 and they are wonderful guns! I am not a gun smith but I tend to think that the bolt has cosmoline in it. I would completely disassemble the bolt by following the video below. It might also be a weak spring in the bolt but I would completely clean and lube the bolt first to see it that helps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzbpkvYA-iY Thanks!
  17. Hello Everyone, Does anyone know any good deals on renewing an NRA membership?
  18. I see what you mean about the potential of it especially for solving crimes but the thing is where is the privacy anymore. The video footage is totally open to the public and is not used solely for goverment crime solving. A good example of this would be Christmas time if you wanted to buy a present for your wife she could potentially view exactally where you went shopping and watch you throughout most of the day. Its the unknown of who is watching you which get to me. What about parents protecting their children from kidnappers and stalkers. The issues with this level of control in the hands of the public simply does not end.
  19. I think at the moment its not 100% of the globe at the moment but imagine a live facebook with tags and streaming video footage which anyone could view.
  20. Hello Everyone, I was wondering if anyone has seen the videos for UrtheCast? Basically Urthecast its a joint venture with the Russians and Americans to install high def camera's on the Space Station. These camera can view live footage, tag personal locations and have extremely high resolution capible of zooming up to one meter. Personally I think that these cameras are cool but its the privacy factor of these cameras which get to me. Imagine since these cameras are live you could potentially be spyed on by anyone 24/7. In addition to viewing footage these cameras record and can rewind anything it views. Honestly this is just plain scary! The really scary part is that these cameras are going live this spring 2012! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ScNJ74SkPE&feature=player_embedded http://urthecast.com/
  21. I would like to recommend a Saiga 7.62x39 or 223. They are wonderful inexpensive guns! Ammo is cheap since you can shoot steel cased wolf out of them without a problem and there are some aftermarket accessories if you would like to mods such as quad rails, scope mounts exc. Personally between the two I would get the 7.62 version but I own the 223 version and its a wonderful gun and is the softest shooting 223 rifles! I have seen both calibers recently for around $300 online and the ammo runs about $6 a pack for 20 rounds.
  22. Thank you everyone for your replies, I greatly appreciate it! Also thank you Anselmo for providing me with the exact law and number, I ended up sending the information to my friend. Thank you again!!!
  23. Hello Everyone, I have been target shooting for a while and a friend of mine who justed started asked me if lending a firearms to go to the range is legal? Personally I would not lend a firearm out or lend a firearms to anyone just in case an accident was to ever take place. However, does anyone know the legality of this? Thank you for your help!
  24. Thank you very much for posting this! I turned on the tv and watched it for a while and it appears like it passed! I am curious though does this concealed weapons bill allow you to cross borders only if I hold a permit in NJ? I have a Utah Concealed weapons permit does this mean I could not carry in NJ since this is this state I live in but when I carry in other states under the Utah permit to cross borders?
