  1. Pic with Comp on the end and the meager 1 1/8" protrusion..
  2. BCM's are great IMHO.. I own a BCM BFH Middy 14 1/2" and love it.. granted they don't include the BCGs... I noticed Palmetto now does the same thing.. with/without the BCG.. BCM sells out FAST though.. Del-Ton stuff is pretty good.. not a BCM or Spikes though.. IMHO.. They have had backlog rumors floating in the last few weeks.. may/maynot be true.. they shipped my parts (not upper or rifle) 3 days after I ordered.. rumor has it like 3 weeks+ for uppers.. (what I read on diff forums)... Get what you can safely afford and go with it.. goes bang.. stick with Mil-Spec parts (barrel testing and BCG) and be GTG..
  3. I had the Levang on my 18" SPR and it worked well and kept the noise down.. kinda straight back.. and cushy.. I went with the KIES version as its in stock more than the levang.. the Claymore would be the 2nd choice.. then the Levang Linear 3rd.. can't wait to get it done and shoot it..
  4. for NRA members exp 10/31/12. (doesn't confirm if you are or arn't) $100 or more - Promo Code 1121171 $200 or more - Promo Code 2121171 $300 or more - Promo Code 3121171
  5. The Vltor Comp VC-1 may work also as its 2.1" but not sure how much of the 'slots' on the sides would go under the rail.. hmmm.
  6. I have only a pistol lower here so I'm ok with this in the same bldg.. And Thanks.. I figured I'd be different.. Yes I am pinning to over 16" final length.. then I will go fetch my lower with carbine stock on it..
  7. I did some measuring.. Spikes 14.5" Carbine Barrel Spikes BCG Troy 15" Alpha KIES Blastmaster Comp (waiting on the Comp to get here) PSA Lower MOE Pistol Grip cheapy Pistol Tube (till the Comp gets pinned/welded on).. then changing to MOE stock (to be pinned) this gives the KIES Comp an 1 1/4" hanging out the end past the rail.. and its LINEAR so gases don't bake the rail end.. You could also get a Troy Claymore or DPMS Levang to do the same thing.. came to like $677 with the BCG for the complete upper.. over 19" sight radius with my MBUS installed.. *ETA I live in PA folks.. though this UPPER is NJ legal once its pin/welded..
  8. Back in 2003 IRT NJCSD... nevermind.. its WAY old news..
  9. Was open LAST weekend.. I would call first.. I managed to get in at 9:20am and they had 2 tables.. The worker said PINE so maybe he doesn't know..
  10. Heres a pic from today.. all the framing is up for the roof.. (incorrect earlier) The rifle side was closed today
  11. In my shooting post from Saturday I mentioned the worked said 1 roof.. But yes.. 1 continuous roof line.. The concretes ends VERY abruptly currently with rebar hanging out the end.. The benches are there in the middle of the field as of this morning still.. worker said they were PINE and not finished and sat for about 3 weeks so far.. I don't think its done yet.. also the rates are $4/hour now. I'll snnap some pics today..
  12. Went there today at 8am.. (was there Saturday shooting too).. (I forgot they open at 1pm on Wed).. Anyway.. they got the roof up for the entire length of that concrete pad they had put down.. I'll snap a pic at 1pm when I go back and put it up later..
  13. Looks like good shooting there OP.. glad to hear its all GTG.. Keep an eye on the red/green 'dot' if thats a Bushnell model.. the battery tends to die.. (I had one last summer).. You may decide to go with Bushnell TRS25 or a Primary Arms M3 for a little less than that.. and lose about 1/2 the 14oz weight on that model.. I ended up selling mine like yours for $120 shipped last August.. then bought the Primary Arms M3 clone..
  14. Is the Brake/Comp (if it has one) pinned/welded..?? does it have a collapsible stock (is that pinned??) does it have mags over 15 rounds?? I got my MagPUL LR20's from Riflegear already pinned for like $29.. if you have any of the above that are not pinned/welded or blocked then YES your friend would have an issue in NJ.. or if he just has a flash-hider then thats also an issue.. and a no-no.. heres my NJ legal DPMS LR-308 that I had till December.. Brake pin/weld and blocked mags.. no collapsible stock.
  15. depending on the homes price.. offer $3-5K less than what they want.. and try to wiggle them to pay closing costs..
  16. @ raz-0.. Federal AE 223 'Tactical'. I shot a few rounds of Hornady 60gr TAP also but by that time I was using a 'marked' up target.. I saved some of that (Hornady) and some Prvt Part 75gr ammo for next outing.. hopefully Wed.. I'm bringing along some PMC XTAC 556 in 55gr and 62gr also for the Wed trip..
  17. I dunno for sure how it works.. but it feels pretty darn sturdy.. not sure if its a push/pull or wedge going on..
  18. The MagPul MBUS works fine for me for the intended backup sights.. if I was going to maybe a Red Dot and 'irons' I may do like the 'crowd' and get some Troy flip-ups for $200.. but I'm not.. The true iron sights will have a sharper inner edge and may work better for some though.. I know my LMT rear 6/3 'iron' I got on my BCM has a 'cleaner' picture thru the aperature..
  19. thanks.. I'm going to try to sneak back on Wed in the AM..
  20. I measured them up for you.. 50 yards with the MagPul MBUS set and front Caldwell bag.. 100 yards with the scope and the same bag..
  21. So I called at 8:40 and they said 2 tables would be open on the rifle side for 9:20am. Needless to say I flew there.. Brought out the new 18" SPR I built and some Federal AE 223 ammo.. at 50 yards I got this tiny group with the MagPul MBUS.. off just a front bag. at 100 yards and adjusting I got these 2 separate groups with the 3-9x40 scope. The group on the bottom in yellow was first then I adjusted up a few clicks. Still needs more tweaking and better ammo to see what I can get out of it.. FWIW, I don't think it will be done by end of THIS month.. The worker said the new benches/tables were left in the rain.. and the pad (as mentioned in other thread) is not long enough.. and there going to be doing a long roof to cover all the stations..
  22. As noted under the MK12 Post from yesterday.. I ended up with the KIES Blast Master (much like the Troy & Levang) for $48 (shipped) from JoeBobs.. Should be here Tuesday.
  23. Well I got the Troy 15" Alpha Rail in today. Was in clear plastic originally folks.. Much easier to install.. Heres the parts baggie.. and 3 rail sections it comes with.. (I still have my 3 rails from the defective Extreme) Inside the barrel nut end.. notice the notch in the circumference of the rail and the 3 clips.. The Alpha uses 3 screws and clips inside at the 3/6/9 spots. The tiny gap after installation is like the thickness of paper.. (which I just made tighter with practice) Final cell pic after 1st install.. got to remove again to weld my Comp/Brake when it comes in Tuesday.. Would I pay $200 for this rail system.. I dunno.. Midwest makes a 15" that uses a proprietary nut and may be heavier.. For a replacement one (free) with slight upgrade and ability to remove and reinstall without fear of stripping out..
  24. some use testor paint (for models) and toothpicks..
