Thanks for the info everyone. Ottomanelli's has some in stock and I'm going to try to get up there this weekend. They wouldn't give me price over the phone. Anyone ever deal with them before - how is their service and pricing? Had one in my hands a month before Sandy Hook it was around 1300 and I'm kicking myself for not purchasing it...I'm sure I will have to pay more now but I'm not going to spend much more and don't want to waste my time driving up there if they are crazy expensive.

I've wanted a Sig 516 for awhile and for over a year all local gun shops have said NJ compliant rifles aren't available through their distributors. How do ago about shipping a non-compliant rifle to NJ and have it neutered? Who will do it? Thanks, Rich

Thanks for the response. I'm not going to be ordering a CA gun, after some additional reading the stock is adjustable and it's equipped with a flash suppressor. I didn't realize that was legal in CA.

I found a California compliant Sig 516 online and I believe the only additional feature California requires that NJ doesn't is a "bullet Button" to release the magazine. If I buy this gun -- Can it easily be converted back to standard magazine release? Other then coming with a 10 round mag is there anything else I should know about a California complaint gun? The light is great and I don't have the ultra. Only got to use mine once at the range it was empty so they let us turn off the lights for a minute. When I turn off all the lights at home and turn on the X300 my dog goes bananas which in turn makes my wife go crazy so I don't use it often. I saw a picture of the HK45 tactical and it does look awesome.

I bought a six shell side saddle for my 870 and had issues with the install. The chicago screw would not tap through so I emailed them Saturday evening and they responded Sunday morning with an easy fix. I also marred up the chicago screw a bit trying to get it through and they sent me new hardware. Just wanted to share what I thought was very good service!

Nice! I have a X300 on my HK45. This thread is killing me. I just submitted the papework for 3 permits and I was all set to get a Glock, CZ and maybe a revolver but now I just want to get more HKs.

I like your style and do you really love the lamp or are you just saying it because you saw it? Thanks for the suggestions. I cant believe I didn't think to include a 1911 in there...will also consider the PX4, M&P as well as some of the revolvers and 22s mentioned. This isn't going to be easy.

I just submitted 3 pistol permits to my local PD so I have some time to mull it over. Currently, my only handgun is a HK45 and I love everything about it but I don't want to be a HK fanboy and go buy a P30 and USP, I'm looking for some diversity. I rent something everytime I go to the range and have shot numerous guns belonging to friends but it is still so difficult to decide. I'm a lefty shooter so ambi controls are a big plus... 1st permit 9mm 1st choice: Glock 19 In the running: Walther PPQ, 92SF, XD, P30 2nd permit 22lr 1st choice: Walther PPK --Thats all I got. Never shot a 22 before but I always liked the PPK. What are some other option?. 3rd permit ??? something fun and differnent S&W 500, FN Five-seven, Desert Eagle, something 10mm, saturday night special What do you guys think?

I'm looking to put them on my HK45. Currently my only pistol but hopefully not for much longer. It stays in a biometric safe next to my bed and takes many trips to the range. I'm looking to add a Glock 19 to reduce my cost of ammo, I typically go through $100-150 in ammo every trip to the range. When I get the Glock it will relegate the HK mainly to my HD weapon.

Anyone have experience with their newer HD sights? Trying to decide between the HDs and their bright & tough sights. Thanks

After learning there aren't many options for the left handed 870s I went ahead a ordered a Magpul 870 tactical from Buds. How difficult is it to swap the safety switch? I swapped the control lever on my HK45 with no problem and was hoping I could do the same on the 870 tactical.

I didn't realize there are left handed barrels either, until after I bought my (first shotgun) Remington. I emailed Remington with a question and they informed me of the difference. I likely would have dealt with right side ejection had I known because I love to customize things, not having options is killing me.

I recently picked up a left handed Remington 870 express and was looking for a 18" barrel with a single bead front sight. Do any other manufactures make left handed barrels for this gun? Thanks

I'm taking a few things into consideration. First, the process for obtaining a pistol permit is a bit daunting and I don't see myself going through the process often. After I decide on a pistol this weekend the only other pistol I can see myself getting is a 1911. I may be looking at it the wrong way but in my head I'm thinking similarly to a motorcycle purchase. Two years after I purchased my Ducati 748 I had to get a 998. Second, is my own experience. I've shot 9mm, .40s and .45s all on a very limited basis, I'm still a total newbie. I only shot 10 rounds through an HK 45 last weekend and I actually really liked it, my grouping was pretty decent but follow up shots were REALLY slow, I have a bit more time behind 9mm and .40s. The snappiness of the .40 isn't terrible IMO but my follow ups with it are definitely slower, the 9 is definitely a little easier to shoot well but with practice I don't think the .40 will be a problem and I plan on practicing a lot. Third, is opinions from friends and you fine people on the net. My Ranger buddy swears 9mm's have more punch through. I know any round is capable of going through a wall and shot placement as well as a plan knowing exactly where your family will be is most important but with that being said, I live in a townhouse with a wife and two kids so if a .40 is a tiny bit less likely to go through a wall then it is a plus. Please don't take this as a knock on 9's, I've seen how the 9mm vs .40 debates go online. It starts with someone saying " I once saw a dude hopped up on meth take six shots with a 9 before going down" then all sh*t hits the fan. If you wing a bad guy with any caliber round he isn't going down, it's all about placement. At the moment the .40 has a slight advantage. This weekend a plan on shooting many rounds of both and then I will make a final decision. Thanks for the responses to my introduction. Hi Everyone, I got my FID and 1 pistol permit last week. I'm heading to the range Saturday to rent a few pistols. I almost made up my mind and will likely get a HK P30 .40 but I would like to shoot a Glock 22 one more time and a XD 40 before I decide. I haven't decided on what trigger variant to get - any thoughts in regards to the LEM and SA/DA trigger on the HK?
