  1. Best? The correct answer is much simpler: date + 30 days. If you're unsure about date arithmetic: http://www.nr.com/julian.html The answer to this question is 1/31/2012, and is not ambiguous or dependent on days-in-month etc. In any contiguous 30 day period there can only be ONE day you buy a handgun. Of course in order to buy a handgun on your first eligible day your FFL AND NICS must both be open!
  2. It is NJ legal with the 10 round magazine. I bought this FNAR version three weeks ago, but have not taken it to the range yet. CTD is probably flagging it as 'no ship' because it must go through an FFL, not direct to you. The 10 round mag is FN part# 3108929200, not CTD item number. It is an FNAR .308 mag, and only FNAR.

    357 Revolver Poll

A .357 factory tuned 6" Colt Python was (and still is) my first handgun. It has the smoothest trigger I have ever felt on any revolver or pistol, single or double action. Circa 1978. As far as I can tell they don't make them like this any more.
  5. 2C:58-3 Purchase of firearms. i. Restriction on number of firearms person may purchase. Only one handgun shall be purchased or delivered on each permit and no more than one handgun shall be purchased within any 30-day period, but this limitation shall not apply to: This is the pertinent citation in the law (my underline). I recently went over this with my FFL to make sure I'm right. This section means that within any contiguous 30-day period there can only be one day when a handgun was purchased. Here's my example. I buy a pistol on 12/14/2011. 12/15/2011 is day 1; the lower boundary of a 30-day period and the first day when I don't purchase a pistol. 1/13/2012 is the 30th day I have not purchased a handgun, and the upper boundary in the 30 day period. During that 30 day period (inclusive), if I haven't made a handgun purchase I am entitled to one. So on 1/13/2012 I can buy my next pistol. I can't buy one on 1/12/2012 because 12/14/2011 is within the 30-day boundaries. To put it another way, any day you purchase a handgun must be a member of a contiguous 30-day (inclusive) period that does NOT contain another day when you purchased a handgun. And obviously, we can only look backward. A Burkhart calendar, used a lot by banks, clearly shows the count of days following any particular date. You can also make the same calculation here: http://www.nr.com/julian.html Happy Waiting.
  6. Applied for change of address on the FID and pistol permits at the NJSP Augusta barracks (Sussex Co.) on October 5. Advised today (December 14) that all were ready. Ten weeks to the day. The original estimate by the responsible officer was 9 to 10 weeks. Picked them up today and after inspection saw they were dated December 5. So it was more than the supposed required 30 days, but the original estimate was accurate.
  7. The troopers at Hope told me I had to go to Augusta, since that is the barracks responsible for my town. So effectively they are my police department, and I presume would be most familiar with me if I was a troublemaker. Or not.
  8. I also live in Sussex County. I did some research, and the only NJSP barracks I could find that required an appointment was Augusta. For example, at Hope you just walk in and whoever is on the desk witnesses the necessary signatures. But I can't go to the Hope barracks because they don't cover my town. I applied for a change in FID and several permits on October 5. Still waiting.
