  1. I would love to go to a match, but I have to go to an event for my girlfriend's brother in law. I'd much rather watch the event...
  2. Damn, didn't think about that. Bummer. lol
  3. Safeties on guns are useless if the one in your head isn't working to begin with. Best thing for people like this is to start with a pellet gun... maybe a water pistol.
  4. Hmm, so how about this, anyone who meets the requirements want to take a ride? lol
  5. A Glock with a safety? Might just be my opinion, but I don't see the need. Get a FN FNS, Beretta Px4, CZ P-07, or some other polymer wonder with a safety. I am curious as to how it works, what modifications are required that they recommend a gunsmith?
  6. If it's your land, you should be able to have a range without permits (as long as it's not a business). I think the only thing stopping you is that you would need to go to whatever PD's jurisdiction you fall in and check the if the municipality has any specific discharge laws. I know that was what my uncle did in Pennsylvania.
  7. I would like to buy a SA M1 Garand, preferably WWII era. Problem is, I would like it to be "original" (old stock, possibly barrel, etc...). My question is, I don't meet the requirements to order from the CMP, so can I just drive there and buy one, or do I still need to meet the requirements?

    NICS checks

    It was a 9mm Browning Hi-Power!

    NICS checks

My girlfriend got the call Friday that her NICS was in. That makes it 9 days.
  10. I was at Sarco two days ago, and I was going to go to The Heritage Guild, but it was closed. A guy at Sarco said that "they had an accident." When I asked what specifically happened, he said he was unsure, however it was big enough to shut them down for the day. I could only imagine the story there.
  11. Lol, I hear the jokes on occasion as well. Winter is a bit worse with the long coat and all. I could not agree more. No one wants to be a part of the "counter-culture".
  12. I fully agree, I'm 23, and I make it a point to educate any of my friends that are interested in shooting as a sport. I get them familiar with firearms and then take them on a range trip. Everyone loves it, four have now become responsible firearm owners, and two will be applying for their FID. If everyone could just experience firearms, they would see that they are just another specialized tool.
  13. The problem is, unfortunately, that this educated group is not a good representation of the average voter. =/
  14. ~400 rounds through my 22/45 Mk III, and I have not had 1 issue (FTF / FTE). I keep it clean, lubed, and only shoot CCI Mini-Mags. As for the cleaning, it's 10x easier to break down than to reassemble. I always forget to put the magazine, which makes it damn near impossible to finish the assembly.
  15. Really now? Can we find a way to pin a 75 round drum on there? lol
  16. +1 on this. Checked one out a few weeks ago, I liked It, but I don't view it as a 1911 (Feels really good, actually). If you like it, get it. Then shoot it and learn it. People get Kimbers and Colts that have issues too, however, many problems that 1911's have can be remedied. You just have to be willing to do a little work, or send it back to Sig if a problem arises. The Sig 220 may be more of a "works right out of the box gun." OP, I guess what I'm getting at is that there is no "wrong" choice here. Get the gun that feels right for you. BTW, dono how much you are paying for that Sig, but a Kimber Custom II can be had for just $900.
  17. The second is actually an Italian Carcano M38. Only a few on gunbroker, seem a bit more pricey than the M44. As soon as I get all the information I need, I'll make a decision.
  18. Thanks, I'll look into that. When he told me "a Mauser and Enfield" I was expecting something different. I'm not sure what they are, but they still look like fun shooters. Is the bayonet on the M44 NJ legal? ... I think the other is a Carcano M38. Where the eff did he get Mauser and Enfield? Hahaha, still have no idea of what they are worth.
  19. Someone I know is looking to get rid of a rifle or two, specifically a Mauser and a Enfield. The problem is that the seller and I have no idea of the value (he doesn't know the exact model, etc...), and I would like to buy one off of him. I would prefer not to under, or overpay. They are in decent condition, and are both shooters. The stocks seem like they have no structural problems, and the actions feel smooth and solid. the outside of the receivers and barrels on both show some patina, but it appears to be very minor. I took pictures of all the markings I could find, as well as an overall shot of each rifle. Sorry if the pics aren't too good. http://s1311.photobucket.com/user/Vicious_Pics/library/Rifles P.S. I couldn't get the pics in the post.
  20. The only guy I know is Brad. He helped me with a purchase. Another gentleman whom I picked the gun up from passed me that information (he didn't seem to be in a good mood). He also told me that members are exempt. It's also listed on their site. I would have asked a few more questions (like his name) if I didn't have to GTFO with my gun so I could get to work on time. Maybe in light of the crisis, they are waving their fee?

    NICS checks

I got a call about 2 weeks ago after an 8 day wait at RTSP (Tues-Wed). My friend got his call from The Bullet Hole yesterday, which was also an 8 day wait (Wed-Thurs).
  22. and the guy next to my girlfriend and I was not that great of a shooter. We were at the Bullet Hole, and I was working on her trigger control with my Ruger 22/45 (she will have her own Browning Hi-Power as soon as the NICS goes through). The guy to our left had trouble getting any kind of a group at only about 10 yards, aside from the fact that some shots were misses. To get to the point, my girlfriend put her target all the way out and started taking shots. while she was, I noticed that a lot of that backstop stuff kicked up, and a large hole appeared just below the silhouette on her target. Upon closer inspection, it was a hole caused by one shot, larger than a .22, which led me to believe that the gentleman next to us had shot her target. I found it funny (and a bit sad) that he doesn't know that he unintentionally made his best shot of the day (~25 yards, woo hoo!). Has anything like this happened to any of you before?
  23. That's exactly what I was thinking. Plus, by the time they get out of jail, they forgot the cop that nailed them, but you better believe that they remember that CO that gave them some attitude in front of their "crew." The people I know just love when they are on the street and some ex-inmate comes up to them yelling "CO! CO!" like they're old friends.
  24. Hey, never did it before, but I have asked FFLs. You can buy the gun and have it shipped to a FFL no problem. Any that do transfers will hold your stuff. Some will want you to pay the transfer up front, and some like RTSP will charge you a monthly fee for every month it sits in their safe (I would call my local FFL to make sure they expect a gun on my behalf). Sorry to hear your department hassled you, you think they would show you a little blue courtesy with you being a LEO and all (I have family in Corrections, and they hate to be called "prison guards"). I doubt your FID/ P2P will get denied, as long as you disclosed everything (good, bad, ugly... lol). The first time I applied for my FID/ P2P I was a college student (jobless) and I was approved with no work reference. From my experience getting multiple P2Ps in Jersey City, I can say that my department is not only fast, but a pleasure to deal with as well.
