  1. Best part - "if a gang ever comes here wanting our stuff, ill just offer them a meal and a seat at our table and itll change their minds'...........let me know how that works out for you." ROFL........... Ahhh, ignorance must be bliss. BTW, what's their address?
  2. Have you ever seen a traffic jam on the ocean? Forget going west, go east and jump on a boat. Gold and silver? Nah, food, liquor and lead.
  3. I grabbed this somewhere off the net. I think Lee was from New Egypt. In New Jersey, the first cranberry cultivation began in 1840. John Webb established the first cranberry bog and sold his barrels for $50 each, which was a lot of money then. He sold them to ship merchants who sold them to sailors because cranberries would keep them from getting sick while at sea. Elizabeth Lee was one of the only cranberry growers in southern New Jersey. She usually threw out any damaged berries she harvested. One day she decided to cook the berries, and she created a tasty sauce. Elizabeth started selling it as “Bog Sweet Cranberry Sauce.” In the beginning people didn’t want to buy it, but she continued making the sauce. Elizabeth merged her company with another one and formed Ocean Spray, which is still around today.
  4. Intent is the key word here. What are you preparing for exactly? Short term power outage? Long term power outage? Civil unrest? Dec 21, 2012? EMP over Kansas? CME? What time of the year? What location? Is your water supply for drinking only or sanitation too? Etc., etc. I agree with Malusa about finding a way to purify your water wether you are hunkering down or bugging out. I believe a portable filtration system that removes bacteria, cysts, heavy metals, pesticides, etc. can be purchased for less than a couple hundred bucks. If you live in an area that has water within 15 or 20 ft of the surface, you could drive a well point and install a hand pump. Fair warning, shallow well water could be polluted with all sorts of nasty chems (as can any of NJ's surface waters) so you really need to think that through with your filtration system. I feel the time and energy and $$ invested with filtering/purifying is better spent than rotating barrel stocks. I would still stock 2 to 10 cases of water as a bridge prior to filtration, those stocks can be purchased reasonable cheaply and rotated easily. You can also, if your independently wealthy, buy water in #10 cans from Emergency Essentials or Augason Farms (Sams Club). Those cans store for at least (5) years, maybe (30) years, but pricey. You may aslo, depending on your location, and your intent, look into installing a large cistern(s) in your yard. You could supply the cistern with rain water, (still have to get the filtration system), and/or have a automatic fill from your domestic water supply, or just run your hose into it every weekend to clarify it some what. What kind of fuel are you trying to store? Diesel, gasoline, kerosene, home heating oil? Again what is your intent? Short term or long term difficulties? What are you using the fuel for? Generator power? Vehicles? Hunkering or bugging out? I have not been impressed with stabil in my small engines, it may be fine for bulk storage of gasoline. Diesel lasts, someone correct me if I'm wrong, indefinitely. I know a guy who had between 24,000 and 30,000 gallons of diesel stockpiled in underground tanks since the late 60's, the tanks came out in the 2000's. Fuel was still good. Tanks were good too! You did not mention anything about food so I assume you are not doomsday planning, but if you or anyone reading this thread is looking for long term (30) years prepackaged emergency food, try Sams Club. This link should get you there. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/category.jsp?categoryId=1340121&navAction=jump&iid=Header|All_Products|Emergency They sell a small, I call sampler kit for $150. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod3111476&navAction=push They also sell emergency water storage and other emergency planning items. Also Emergency Essentials http://beprepared.com/default.asp Good luck
  5. It's not the sword, it's the swordsman I always say. If she needs a Perrazi, she'll have to get a night job. (5k - 10K, again gun bible) Purdey's list for 100K!? I assume that's a gun for the person who's has everything already. Can a gun that cost that much really be that better quality? I'm looking at the uplander (for me) and the short barrel coach. Cabelas lists them at $379. Thanks for the advice.
  6. Wow, nice looking guns. (Looking at the gun bible). I'd love to shoot em all.
  7. What about 16Ga? Is that a viable option? Just curious.
  8. Thanks for the reply's everyone. She's a beginner (right handed, left eye dominant, yikes). I want her to be comfortable with the gun foremost, but something that she can't out shoot me with. Just kidding. She shot her, (oh yes it is beautiful), heirloom AH Fox Sterlingworth SxS 12ga loaded with a lite target load. The recoil was, I feel, a little much as she is a beginner. I think we want something that we can bang around a bit and not worry about the nicks and bumps while learning.
  9. What is a inexpensive 1st shot gun for a woman to shoot trap and/or skeet with? Should I buy her a over/under, side x side, pump? Is a .410 too small ? I'm leaning towards a .20ga. What brand? I don't want to spend more than $450. Thanks
  10. Nice point. You, me and a couple other guys have made it even that much easier with the contact info and form letters to copy.
  11. Island beach. Gotta get a beach buggy permit, but it is a good cruise. No real "wheeling" though. The pines are good, there used to be a great water hole down by the trestle on 72, I think where the bike park is/was. It may have reverted back since the bike park is closed. Stay out of Sarcos/blue lake.
  12. Island Beach State Park The pines south of 70 off of 539. Pick a trail and explore. Blue Lake or Sarcos' in Manchester (Heritage Minerals). East of 539 on rte 70. Bring your jet ski If you get busted any where don't blame me.
  13. Some guy bought some Ansel Adams stuff at a yard sale and it was worth big $$. Good luck. Post some of them here when you get em back.
  14. I hope that d-bag doesnt run for AG of NJ or we are f'd.
  15. I have "0" contempt for the people that work at Dicks. Those people are just employees and are doing what they are told to do. One of my concerns is that if Dicks has imposed, or should I say classified all ammo except shot gun rounds as hand gun rounds, then who's next. Will that mentality spread to other company's in the state? Will the public embrace it as fact? Will it then become fact? I don't want to go to PA to buy ammo and I don't want to have to order it online. I want to be able to go down to my local store and not be made to feel like a common criminal or a 4 year old child.
  16. I understand it is not unconstitutional for a business not to sell something to me. That is not the point. The point is that the state/fed has set a mandate that regulates the sale of an item that is essential to the operation of an armament. By doing so the state has disarmed its citizens. Elite is caught up to its axles in a quagmire. And who is going to profit from that?
  17. Oh, and free to have someone pump our gas for us too. I almost forgot that.
  18. I started a new topic earlier, (Dicks ammo ban and NJ - Perfect together), after I was slapped at Dicks tonight. As I was writing (venting) that post I had this thought. The thought crossed my mind that the proposed new ammunition law, A588, is really going to be a cash grab under the guise of protecting the police. I fathom to believe that the law is going to be like an announced toll increase. Like when the turnpike/parkway commission announces a toll hike of 100%, people **** and moan, the commission then says oh, ok just a 50% increase, the people go whew, the commission guys high five, laugh their arses off and go to Myrtle Beach for a round or two of golf. This law may be a set up to require a seperate permit/fee to purchase ammo. Maybe the state is going to try and require a NICS for ammo purchase. It may start out as like a $2 fee, but you know how that goes.
  19. Dicks in Freehold would not sell me .223 ammo tonight without my FID card. As matter of fact, I could not purchase any other ammo except 10, 12 or 20 gauge shotgun shells. Reasoning? Well a constitutionally illegal one as far as I'm concerned, but Dicks reason is New Jersey's ban on the sale of hand gun ammunition to anyone without an FID card. How am I supposed to enjoy my 2nd amendment right if I can't purchase the ammo necessary to exercise that right? Just go get my FID right? Yeah, I'm sure there's a few out there that are going to say that. Let's just forget about that train (ing) of your thoughts for the moment. Through (what a sad joke) exemptions a person can transport their guns to and fro from their home to their place of business, or gun range, or hunting grounds. Well how the $%^& are you suposed to shoot targets without ammo when you get there? Maybe that person is suposed to pretend that there is ammo being shot and make those sounds kids used to make on the playground. (I digress, today those kids would be subjected to, arrest, counseling, expulsion, put on pills and turned into a zombie by the school system). I can just see it now at Range 14, some jerk wad making those sounds and recoiling as if a real round was being shot. Again, how is a person suposed to exercise their 2nd amendment right without ammunition? Your not. Clearly the Constitution has been trampled, and I fear...truly, truly fear that it's too late for a return to true freedom. Here is what the "New" freedom is. We are free to: Think we're free. Be interrorgated prior to practicing our unalienable rights. Pay for that interrogation. Receive a right as indicated by an "ID" card. Pay for a different ID (hand gun) to enjoy that right. And each additional one. Pay for a NICS check, today, and again tommorrow if you decide to get that other gun you wanted. Buy ammo, with an FID card, then have your purchase logged into a record book. Ad nauseam As I wrote this, the thought crossed my mind that the proposed new ammunition law, A588, is really going to be a cash grab under the guise of protecting the police. Well gotta go get ready for the range tommorrow. Pachew, pachew, pachew, zing, zing, pop, pop, pop, pop. Criminals always find a way......
