  1. And this would have been okay because Joe Biden gave us all the go-ahead to fire shotguns through your front door.
  2. That's a pretty interesting read - not at all surprising that the majority of weapons seized were either completely broken or prone to malfunction within the first 3 rounds. Also not surprising to see a good number had mismatched ammo and magazines. If you're stupid enough to commit a violent crime I bet you're also not too concerned with proper gun care.
  3. Just a small update. I ditched my efforts in TN - nobody wanted to sell me anything. NJ residents really scare the shit out of some retailers. I make the trip to TN with my family every year - we have 3 boys so I like to drive through the night so they can sleep for the majority of the 16 hour trip. So I decided to stop by the Cabelas on 78 in PA as it was opening and I was the second in line at the gun counter. The salesman was very helpful, seemed to know his stuff, and was very patient as I made my decision. The problem was, once I picked the .22 I wanted, it took an additional 90 minutes before finally completing my purchase. Christ, and I was on no sleep having just driven all night. The salesman fills out a form and gets my DL and FID card. Then I'm escorted to a computer where I fill out my info and questionnaire. Then I have to fill out a paper version of the exact same form. Then a 30-minute NIC and another 15 minutes while the cashier fills in more information and takes my payment. I bought a pistol at Luciano's and it took all of 10 minutes. A stupid .22 from a big retailer, 90 minutes.
  4. Thanks guys. What about a long gun? I bought a shotgun at Davis in Sloatsburg. Can I buy a rifle at Cabelas in PA and drive it home. What about a rifle here in TN and then bringing it home with me? The guy at the pawn shop wasn't sure if he was allowed to sell me a rifle.
  5. I would have simply asked this in chat, but nobody was around - sorry for the new topic for a short question. I know a gun can be brought can into the state as long as it was purhased legally in another state, but does the same apply to handguns? Is there any issue buying a handgun in TN and then transporting it to NJ? Anything else pertinent I should understand before attempting this?
  6. Thanks for the heads up - just ordered some more 9mm ammo before the deadline.
  7. Damn funny thread. Funny to stumble on this now - was at Cherry Hill on the 4th and had a hard time because it was 93° and my hands were sweaty. Was tough to keep a good grip. I don't think I'd like to wear gloves on sweltering hot days, but are there grips available to counteract some of that slip factor on hot days?
  8. Kind of blows. I close loans for a living and just got back from West Orange where I spent an hour and a half in an 83° house watching an old lady read every word of her mortgage papers...
  9. That's fine. The next time she gets held hostage the police will know to just ignore it. Nobody wants to work for money anymore, it's just looking out for your big lawsuit payday. That being said, I'm confident this will get thrown out assuming the officer was acting within whatever guidelines are set for hostage situations.
  10. We make an annual drive down to TN every year (driving through the night) and this past year I engineered it so we'd be passing by Cabelas on our way back to Jersey right as it was opening. Very cool place. The kids dug it - lots of stuffed, mounted animals (real and fake), kind of little outdoorsy museum/amusement park. The camping section is a bit generic, nothing as good as Campmor, but it's a cool place to walk around. I'll have to check out the gun area this year. (Phantom fireworks is also part of our annual trip)
  11. Got that yesterday as well and sent emails to each of the addresses listed. They're just trying to upgrade it from a third to a second degree crime.
  12. Saturday afternoons seem pretty quiet. Went up there last Saturday at ~3pm and there were 2 guys at the 200/300yd range, 3 or 4 at the 100yd, and 3 at the pistol range. It was a bit unnerving after my orientation Sunday to see how busy it was, but thankfully that was the exception, not the norm.
  13. My wife is from Tennessee so I'm fairly familiar with the state thanks to years of road trips down there. East TN is especially beautiful - very green and hilly... the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. Whenever I entertain the thought I feel like I'd miss the shore, but I never go now so it doesn't make much sense.
  14. I've had the following experiences: Ramsey Outdoor: FID required Luciano's: nothing required Davis: nothing required Meltzer's: FID required Never had someone require an actual permit before - sounds odd.
  15. Sorry if I'm using the wrong terminology - still learning the ropes. Good info, thanks!
