  1. This is NOT true. The proposed system clearly replaces the current system. The current system will only remain in place for people who do not get the FPIC endorsement on the DL.
  2. I get it, John. But, that is not what I was trying to discuss. Asside from the hypotheticals of what could go wrong with the proposed new system, what will be the pracitcal differences between where we are now and were we would be. I.e., right now we are in "Place A." Place A sucks really really bad. If the bill passes, we will be in "Place B." Relative to Place A, is Place B a better or worse place? That is all I am asking.
  3. Comparing against status quo... I apply for pistol permits every year. Renewing every 4 years is an improvement.
  4. All that the cops are going to know is that you have a firearm owners endorsement. So they know that you have gone your entire life without ever committing a crime. So what?
  5. I’s needs sum edjukashun on S2723 Forgive me, I know I am supposed to, but I am not really hating on the new driver’s license endorsement. I have read and am trying to understand the lengthy discussion on S2713. I get arguments about infringing upon our privacy, but I really cannot see how it would be any worse than the status quo. While I would be strongly opposed if we lived in America; I actually see S2723 as an improvement to the status quo here in NJ. The way I see it, we will have to endure one more colorectal examination, get an endorsement on our driver’s license and then we are good to go. Then can now buy pistols over the counter just like longrifles on a whim. And it is a simple endorsement (letter code) on the back of the license. It’s not like they are issuing us a red driver’s license or something like that. So arguments about outting us to the bank teller are kind of ridiculous. Can we have a thread focused on exploring the potential virtues of supporting the driver’s license endorsement?
  6. I tried to read the story, but I can't because the Daily Herald's marketing script goes to war with my internet security software. Their script mad over 30+ attempts to embed marketing crap on my computer before I killed the page.
  7. They must have found out he was a registered Democrat.
  8. I am not a lawyer. But IMHO, as long as the trunk of the car is locked and you have the key is in your posession, you are in control of the rifle. If it is illegal to stop for something to eat with rifles in the trunk, then I guess I am a dangerous criminal.
  9. Gone already? I went there and all they have is Aquilla for $7.50 for a box of 50.
  10. There is one IMPORTANT exception to "drive around with an unloaded long gun in your trunk as much as you want". If you drive onto a school property, its a crime in the 2nd degree with a mandatory prison term.
  11. This is not the exception he is using. He would be using the FPID exception as stated in 2C:39-5 c.
  12. Good to go if you have a FPID card. Long guns only. Do NOT do as you describe with a pistol.
  13. Unregistered longguns? Only pistols are registered in NJ.
  14. I have a long history of doing business wiht Natchez Shooters Supply and they have had a perfect track record with me. Back before the ammo-run, they typically had some of the better prices on the internet. But, you still need to shop around. I highly recommend them.
  15. Added my feedback to the comments. Total hoplophobes.
  16. Does anyone offer combative training courses for people with minor disabilities? I am not talking about accommodating blind people in wheelchairs; just post-middle-aged fat guys with bad knees, bad ankles, bad backs, etc., who cannot keep up with the younger crowd when it comes to running, cutting, getting up and down, or oblique shooting positions. I want to complete the following trainings over the next year or so (as finances permit) Combative pistol Combative shotgun Combative carbine NRA Certified Instructor Any thoughts or recommendations? Preferably somewhere south of I-195 and north of the ACE, but I am willing to travel further if necessary. Thanks Don.

  18. Adding If for no other reason than the packaging shows a guy shooting a gun! :-D http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/quikclot-trauma-pak/ID=prod6149704-product
  19. Just use Hoppes. I put that sh!t on everything. :-D
  20. I am afraid to ask what kind of medication is in your "med kit"
  21. What’s in your range bag? I had this conversation with a buddy earlier this week and we got a couple good ideas off each other. I figured it might be an interesting forum topic. Here is mine: Eyes & ears Keys for all trigger locks and ammo boxes Water jug Towel Sunscreen and bug spray Hat Staple gun and extra staples Zip ties, masking tape, thumb tacks Basic first aid kit 3-segment rod, basic cleaning kit Multitool, pocket knife, scissors Basic tool kit, A2 sight tool, AK sight tool Small 150 flashlight w/ extra batteries Notebook, pencil, pens, Sharpies Package of 8” Shoot-N-See stick-on targets Backup eyes & ears Variety of spare batteries for ear muffs, Aimpoints, and other electronics Printouts of all relevant NJ Firearm Statutes Evan Nappen’s business card Printout of the FOPA
  22. I get it. I am not faulting you. The fault is in the dumb laws of this State. The State making the argument that you have to seal the case because I could disassemble it and cut the limiter is ridiculous. If I was so inclined, I could carefully saw the case in half, disassemble it, cut the limiter, reassemble it, epoxy and clamp the case, and bam, "large capacity ammunition magazine." Or, I could just drive to PA and buy 30-rounders off the shelf. But I am not so inclined. NJ forgets; we are not criminals, it is the State's laws that make us criminals.
  23. +1 Sealing the mag case seems to be an overzealous interpretation of the law. If the limiter replaces the lock plate and I do not own a standard lock plate, then I do not have the parts from which to assemble a large-capacity magazine. But, I understand businesses do not want to waste money on lawyers and I understand that it is in fact cheaper for a business to be extra conservative than to risk defending itself in a lawsuit. I'll try rinsing them as MidwestPX recommended. Thanks for the advice.
