  1. I may just literally follow this guy's video https://youtu.be/oheEPHf0BjU Btw... if anyone is looking for water storage containers, I came across these recently... http://southjersey.craigslist.org/for/5176813751.html
  2. I'm thinking about installing a hand pump on my property. I've been researching them for a couple days now, and I'm fairly certain I understand most of the process and necessary parts. I think I need a shallow well (50 ft) with a pitch pump. They make kits that are completely PVC, but I was hoping for something metal for durability sake. I see alot of these style kits for sale online: http://www.amazon.com/Handy-Well-Pump-HWP-CK20-Extension/dp/B00AEXB3KO From what I understand, the majority of kits like that come with a sand spike on the end so you can basically beat them into the ground with a sledge and add another section of pipe until you hit water. I can't seem to find any like that in the metal pipes, everyone seems to dig the hole and drop the prefab pipe in. Anyone have any experience with this kinda thing? I ultimately wanted something like the guy has in this video with the metal pipes and iron pump...https://youtu.be/tz5RC7IKyWs Also, is there a place to look up roughly how deep the water table is here in Tabernacle? I've been googling for days but there doesn't seem to be something that is readily available knowledge...
  3. 1. Application type: Change of address/2 P2P's 2. Police Department where you applied: Red Lion State Police Barracks (Southampton Twp, NJ) 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD: Sgt. Kerrigan 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit: Received p2ps and new updated FAID on 12/11 (97 days) 5. Documents required by the PD: Standard docs 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process: Sgt in charge of the firearms there has been notoriously hard to get a hold of. I don't have high hopes that these will be back within a month or 2. My references got called and asked the questionare over the phone on 10/7 Just called for an update on my apps on Nov 13th (70 days in), and was told i had at least another 4 months to go, their average wait time is over 6 months. Ended up writing an email to the governor about the wait time on 12/08 When I received my p2ps and Faid card, they had an issue date of 11/24 (got the call to get them on 12/10, 2 weeks later)
  4. awesome, tyvm sir! gonna drop the app off tonight and settle in for a long wait. My Father-in-law just got his FAID and he submitted his stuff in Feb or March
  5. Is there are list of numbers somewhere showing what ORI # for the online background check belong to what dept? I've been calling the NJSP barracks for 3 weeks, almost daily, and it seems the trooper that runs the firearms permits section is NEVER there... I called this morning around 10am, and was told he wasn't in yet. I called back around 11:15 and finally got ahold of him. He told me to just do the online background check and drop off the application to change address to the barracks. I told him I was pretty sure I needed an agency number or something to fill out the background check form online. He insisted I didn't. So I went online, and it turns out I'm right. I called him back (had literally been 9 minutes) and suddenly he's "stepped out" again. Is there any other way to get this number besides calling daily for another 3 weeks before I can speak to him again?
  6. Magpul MOE hand guards are nice and about that.... or for another $5 you can do an AB Arms Mod 0 hand guard and get a top rail on it also
  7. There are enough people that should be judging whether or not something is a good idea in this instance.... the range, the instructor, the parent/guardian, and the kid themselves.... there are plenty of people that can realize someone isn't ready for a gun like that. Just because there was a freak accident doesn't mean we need the government stepping in to put a blanket policy in effect and taking away more of our rights. People just need to use their goddamn brains a little better when making decisions.
  8. I lived in Evesham when they were doing that. Now they just allow you to drop off the applications. I wasn't posting this to complain... Being that I don't live in the same town as my coworker, I was hoping someone else from his hometown would see and give input about their experience applying for their FAID or P2P, and I was asking for advice on the situation. I am going to tell him to get in contact w/ NJ2AS and ANJRPC. He also is going to be talking to his mayor about it. Hopefully it gets resolved quickly.
  9. A coworker just told me that he went to turn in a P2P application, and Irvington PD is telling him he must make an appointment (I know, normal for certain areas), but the earliest one they have available is Sept 20ish. He already has his FAID, he's just looking to pick up a couple P2Ps. Anyone else from Irvington having this problem? If it takes a month for him just to get the appointment, I can only imagine how long it would take to get the permits back... Advice?
  10. Good luck with the shipping it to yourself idea. I tried shipping a handgun home from another state while on my honeymoon a month or 2 ago, as the way I was trying to transport it home wouldn't let me. It HAS to be a private shipping company (UPS, Fed Ex), but they also stated they would refuse to ship it knowing it was a firearm, unless it was to an FFL or a manufacturer. Now, you can just not tell them what's being shipped, but I'm not sure the ramifications if they somehow figure out they're shipping a firearm. Unfortunately, IMO, at best you will dodge legal action, but be trying to get your firearms back from the state police for a long time.
  11. A1 upper build (that I apparently accidentally put an A2 upper on, lol) I just finished for my Father-in-law for his birthday to put on his AR. I switched out the pistol grip to A1 also. It's what he carried in the military and has wanted one like it since he got his AR last year.
  12. Ended up doing this. Funny enough, it served 2 purposes. Firstly, like you said, the shorter punch allowed more of the hammer hits to transfer to the pin itself. After a few solid smacks, the taper pin worked itself out. But not only that... I found a Elev Spring in my tool box so all I needed was the roll pin to hold it in. funny enough, the cut off punch tip was the PERFECT size to be the elev spring roll pin. lol.
  13. Ok, I have to rant a lil bit. I'm building an AR mimicking an M16A1, and just received the final pieces from Del-Ton, the rear sight assembly and the barrel. I started assembling the rear sight, and was missing the elevation spring and its roll pin. So I figured I'd just finish everything else. I had a spare gas block/front sight laying around, so I cut off the bayo lug on it and reblued the exposed steel. I then started hammering out the taper pins on the gas block on the barrel. I got one out, but the other is NOT coming out... I tried all the tricks... oil, heat, brute strength... so much so that I almost folded my punch... what are my options (preferably not including a dremel) at this point??
  14. Mine is because my wife refuses to go down there, so I can actually add to the bench and work space w/o her... how do I put this in PC terms... "bitching" lol
  15. yes, my computer wont let me quote for some reason
  16. Recently moved. My bench is a work in progress. I have another bench that will replace those small tables under the cabnets off to the right. I have the bench, just need to get it from the garage to the basement. Lol
  17. No, just a thread protector cap. I have a slant brake I was going to put on that Zastava but never got around to finding someone to do it (barrel isn't threaded) that may go on this one.
  18. Ever since i got my poly Zastava PAP, I've been wanting a more traditional looking, wood furniture AK variant. Yesterday I got to pick a used one up at a pretty good price. I ordered a bakelite pistol grip yesterday thats the same color as the wood to complete the look. As always, that's a NJ legal WASR w/ a pinned, 15 round NJ legal magazine.
  19. A friend of mine is having an issue like this with one of his hexmags. It works fine in my rifle, doesn't in his. If I remember, he has a bushy AR.
  20. My fathers house has solar, and when the power goes out, it does in his house also. It was explained to me that excess power is given back to the grid, so as a safety precaution, when the power goes out, so does houses with solar. If a line gets knocked down, they cut the power to the line on the power station side, a guy goes to work on it, if it was near a house with solar that is still actively producing power and pumping it into the grid, the line would still be live. The only way you can legally make a building with solar panels to continue to work without hardwired power to the structure in NJ is if the structure isn't connected to the power grid at all. Now can someone who is knowledgeable rig something to act as a battery and a relay to turn power over from the hardline to backup battery? Sure. But from my understanding, it's not legal to do in NJ
  21. Aaaaahh, I gotcha. Ty guys
  22. But if all apply, including weight, as long as the pistol is a "semi-auto", how are Desert Eagles legal in NJ? They are "semi-auto" and have an unloaded mfg weight more than 50oz.
  23. Is that restriction just on handguns that have a magazine that feeds outside the pistol grip, as the 50oz mfg weight limit? Or is it on all handguns? I can't seem to find anything on it in NJ law using my Google-foo. I ask mainly because a friend and I were discussing the Sig Adaptive Carbine Platform (yes, I read the other posts on NJGF about it) and couldn't find any definitive answer on whether or not it is in fact NJ legal (the one w/o the stock obviously). From what I understand, it isn't bound by the 50oz weight limit as the mag feeds in the pistol grip. The only other thing that I could think would make it a no-go is that funky hand stop.
