I am now up to three instances where a person is disappointed by their turbo tax number for 2018. I clearly showed them that their total tax liability for 2018 was lower than 2017 but did not like that it came in the form of a higher paycheck and not more money at refund time. This is crazy to think this way. And people are freaking out because the child exemption line is now zero. It’s gone in 2018. And turbo tax summary page will show 16k for personal exemption and 2018 is zero. “What happened to my $16k deduction?” Then I have to explain again that under AMT just because you said 4 people was in the household didn’t mean you got a tax break for it. But in all 3 cases Trump wins, Lower total tax vs 2017. Average was about $6 grand difference.

You have each your own state? If what you mean is one of you work in a different state there is no arbitrage in state tax differences. You always owe state income tax tobyhe state that employs you but additionally the state you live in wants taxes too. You don’t double pay state tax because the line in the NJ state return would credit you for “taxes paid to other jurisdictions.”

Judge your tax situation by comparing your TOTAL tax liability for the year, not just how your tax “refund” compares to last year. 2. Do not forget to compare your paycheck in May 2018 vs a check in May 2017. (“Oh look at that my check has $200 more in it than it did last year.”) im already seeing people whine “my refund isn’t as big as last year.” 3. If you are reading this there is 66% chance you were AMT last year. and if you and spouse earned over $200k then you were 90% chance AMT in this state. AMT means you were not getting credit for your property tax deduction, zero. You were not getting credit for state income tax deduction. Zero. You were not getting credit for children exemption. Zero. look at your 2017 tax return. If in the bottom right Altenative Minimum Tax you have any number greater than zero you were AMT. That means $10k SALT deduction cap doesn’t matter to you now because you weren’t getting the credit anyway last year. for those that are really savvy and knew that removal of AMT for 2018 would actually INCREASE liabilities for some, yes that would be true if they kept the marginal brackets the same for 2018, but they lowered them so you should pay less. if you really are paying more TOTAL tax than last year you either made more money this year, owed taxes on gains from stocks or bonds or took money from some qualified account that are getting taxed on now. Or you were some sort of yeti that earns a lot of income but wasn’t AMT last year. I’m really shocked how many people knew they were AMT when they do their TurboTax but still think they were getting $12k tax credit for 3 kids. If the bottom right of your return say AMT the ONLY SINGLE thing you were actually getting a credit for is your mortgage interest and your charity. Nothing else, no kids, no property taxes, no state taxes Just because you put numbers in the program doesn’t mean it changes your tax. i am curious and would like to hear stories from those that basically did have same Adjusted Gross Income as last year and are paying more TOTAL federal tax than last year. And please state if you were AMT last year. It’s barely “supposed” to happen I want to know the situations when it did. (Of course don’t post how much you make) Something like “married filing joint, was not AMT last year, 3 kids. Income almost same as last year and my total federal taxes owed went up $5k” or something like that.

For those who did buy at $10k or higher, why would they ever sell? BTC is an option that never expires. You never sell an option that never expires. If you bought it because you think you’d earn 10% or 20% then just own stocks. But if you are in it for 5x or 10x then you’d never sell. There is no time decay against you

Great timing to revive this thread actually. Yesterday was the exact ten year anniversary of the first bitcoin block. So it’s a ten year scam, a ten year bubble, a ten year manipulation, what have you. Every day it doesn’t go to zero just means it will live longer. i don’t think Tulips lasted ten years. And if you held bitcoin for the past ten years even with an 80% drawdown from the peak you “earned” like 100 times more money than if you held that long in a bank account.

So some manias are bad and some are good. Sometimes a mania brings notice to something that otherwise wouldn’t have been noticed. So for all the people who bought a “little” at the top and then spent the rest of the year diving down the rabbit hole and got enlightened about what a farce the fiat system is and how much a savior that non censored money is to the 4 billion people on the planet who use bitcoin as freedom (Time Magazine, not me). I reset my router hoping to get my internet faster. It worked. Bad news is it knocked out my Hikvsion cameras. I had a pro do the installation. I’m lost now. I’ve watched some videos on how to add the port to router but man Optimum router not looking anything like YouTube videos. I’m gonna try to attach a pic. “Select a Host?” What’s that? And I don’t even see where to put in the IP address? If anybody has done Optimum port forward please a little help.

I must be crazy. Because I read the bills and I don’t find it confusing at all. have a semi auto that holds more than 15 now illegal. Use magazines that hold 10 or less if you want a functioning firearm. If there exists a firearm that will not function if altered to hold less than 15 then you register it. If you own mags more than ten you get rid of it, you surrender to police, you make it an inoperable relic or you modify it to only hold ten. Modifying is allowed it must be considered permanent. Just sticking a block or a pin in the bottom which you could just switch in or out easily is not permanent is considered temporary.

How many 30 round and 20 round AR modified mags are you guys carrying around now but somehow now carrying a 15 round pistol mag modified to ten is illegal? I’m really flummoxed why modified 15 rounders was okay but modified to ten is not? and I still can’t believe I’m hearing in places that registering allows you to keep a 15 magazine. Or that you need to register to possess a modified ten it’s last page of the bill. 1[4.]5.1 (New section). ......during this time period the owner or a semi automatic rifle or magazine shall: a. Transfer it... b. Render it inoperable or permantly modify a large capacity magazine to accept ten rounds. Or c. surrender it If I felt fine possessing 4 20 round AR mags modified to 15 I feel fine possessing my 15 round pistol mags modified to ten after I hope someone here comes up with a simple way. I’m happy to give you my money for conversion.

There is no grandfathering. There is no registration exemption. Any prior language that anybody read about registering dealt with the possibility that if a firearm existed that has a magazine attatxhed to it that held more than ten and the only way to make it 10 would make the firearm inoperable you could keep it if you registered it. Start thinking about ways you will make your mags be ten rounds and appear permanent. Great side gig for cash whomever perfects it.

I wish we could start a new thread or threads. We are still rehashing “rifle or handgun only” stuff like that here now. Can we get one that focuses strictly on how to modify (yes I said modify I disagree with the prior “you are not allowed to modify” post). I don’t think it’s efficient to have in the same thread people that want to prepare for this law as states and people who are still looking for loophole language. So as of now with NJ laws the threaded barrel is allowed because there is no pistol grip. Is that correct? And can any brake be put on it? Not welded? Please just remind me again the reasons why this threaded barrel is NJ legal? Don’t want to be a pain we are just so programmed to believe rile + threaded barrel = illegal

Before we get that technical remember this basic about rifle sites: The red dot sit a couple of inches HIGHER than the barrel. Pistols are not like that. Just imagine if your dot or sites was perfectly horizontal, and If the bullet came out horizontal and defied gravity then every hole would be a couple inches below the bullseye. So: to account for this you want the bullet to “rise” a little bit (or you want your sites to angle down a little bit) but really is the former because of gravity but bear with me because I’m just trying to get you to understand height differences between sites and barrels. so that is a good explanation of why of course at 50 yards you are not hitting the same spot as 25. Because your barrel angle is never coming out straight from the beginning. If you are a bullseye pistol shooter and then start getting into rifles it is a real mind fuck trying to process how you have your rifle sites on the bullseye but the bullet doesn’t go there at different ranges. Those sites being HIGHER than the barrel is a real predicament if your goal is to hit the little red target only.

What scares the piss out of me is that if you hold the revolver same fighting grip as your pistol you blow your fingers off weak hand from the side blast? Is that true ?
