  1. Hi folks. I've got two simple questions: 1. Can buckshot be fired from a barrel with a choke? (Remington 870 Express 20 gauge)? If not, why? 2. Can shotgun ammo be resold? For example, if I purchased the wrong gauge ammo, can I sell it at a yard sale, flea market, or another person locally? Thanks in advance for your responses.
  2. I'm still relatively new to the sport...been using CCI and Federal only. I found a good deal on Geco .22lr ammo. Has anyone ever used this brand? Your thoughts?
  3. Went there this morning (Sunday 5/31) and was pleasantly surprised. It's clean, organized, well stocked, and spacious. The staff was friendly & knowledgeable, and the range was impeccable. Bob was a great help to me as was the RO Hugh. They treated everyone with dignity and respect regardless of gender or shooting experience. No tattooed twentysomethings leaning on the counter acting as if you are bothering them. A real classy operation. My new shooting home.
  4. One of the women at the Toms River PD outright LIED to me and said it was illegal to purchased ammo online!
  5. I'm dubious about some of these places that sell emergency bug-out food. I once purchased a sampler from efoodsdirect.com. Much to my dismay, the stuff was TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) and not real freeze dried meat and/or poultry. IMHO, it tastes horrible. I opted for #10 cans of fruits and veggies from Emergency Essentials (be prepared.com). They offer freeze dried, dehydrated, & MRE's. I like the fact that I can flavor my food the way I want. Mountain House and some other companies tend to over do it on the spices and sodium. If your prepping for someone on a low-sodium or diabetic diet this is something you need to be aware of. A while ago I invested in some canned meats produced by Yoder's. In a bind they'll work, but the taste is blah. I'm looking into canning meats in my pressure cooker, but then the shelf life isn't as long. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, we had healthy meals. One of my favorites was Polar canned salmon. It's available at Walmart for a little under $2 a tin.
  6. I'm a new shooter so forgive me if I ask a dumb question or two.... They do make non-lead ammo, right? How does non-lead ammo affect accuracy? Is it cheaper or more expensive? I'm specifically interested in .22LR. Thanks.
  7. Be careful of what kind of long-shelf life food you are buying. Personally I buy & use dehydrated food. Some of the stuff offered by efoods direct and Wise are actually TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) and not meat. I too purchased sampler packs and thought they were disgusting. MREs are great for go-bags, but dehydrated is the way to go for shelter in place. Canning is always a good idea, and I recommend buying a pressure canner as opposed to the water bath method. You can can meats and alkaline foods in a pressure canner. Talking of first aid kits...remember antibiotics. Ampicillin, Amoxicillin, Cipro....you can get virtually any antibiotic online from aquatic pet supply stores. These pills are produced from the same batches as the ones manufactured for human consumption. They have the identical markings. Verified in Physciains Desk Reference. A suture kit can come in handy too. Have a adequate supply of no-rinse soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Virtually any store like Walgreens has it. I also stocked up on hand sanitizer, baby wipes, peroxide, and rubbing alcohol. When SHTF, I don't want to be stuck in traffic, or roadside w/out gas trying to escape to the Poconos. NJ is full of morons. Our family has made the decision to shelter in place.
  8. I remember listening to the radio after both hurricane Irene & Sandy. All sorts of dimwits calling in and complaining about not having enough food, water, toilet paper, lighting, and heat. These are the same people who mock preppers and gun owners, yet have no problem wasting money on designer clothes, jewelry, cars, tech gadgets, and NFL season tickets. I have plenty of the afore mentioned items. Dehydrated food in #10 cans will last 25 years.
  9. You're stupid if you don't think pro sports arent rigged. Go fork over your hard-earned $$$ to elitists pigs. What good will your autographed Jeter ball be when SHTF? I hope A-roid gets beaned in the head.
  10. I haven't eaten there in years. Last time we went, the food was horrible, portions were small, and the menu overpriced.
  11. This week's outrage comes to us from a rather unlikely source: the Google Play app store. The new app is called the Gun Geo Marker, and encourages users to "geolocate dangerous guns and owners" in their communities. According to Google Play, "Geolocation means marking dangerous sites on the App's map so that you and others can be aware of the risks in your neighborhood." Think about that for a minute. The purpose of the app--other than sensationalism and profit--is to encourage people to anonymously "flag" locations in their community they subjectively deem "dangerous" and to make that information as public as possible. The probability for abuse and the certainty of inaccurate "reporting" cannot be overstated. What's to keep people from marking any location for any reason at all? Nothing. The practice is not only a serious invasion of privacy, but would also be just as dangerous and irresponsible as publishing the names of concealed-carry permit holders in local papers. 12. Government psy-op. He's an Alex Jones flunkie.
  13. Thanks for the link! Looks like they're identical in performance....
  14. I'm new to the sport so pardon me.... Can someone explain the difference between Fedeal 22LR Game Shok and Federal 22LF Champion ammo? I thought I was buying the same thing. The boxes are almost identical. I know the Game Shock is copper. Other than that, are there benefits of one over the other?
  15. If they get worked up over the release of Labron James sneakers, this will surely cause them to riot. With tha being said, nothing with happen in Ocean County. I think you'll see flash mobs in parts of Florida near Sanford along with other urban areas. The only people they'll hurt is small business owners in their own areas. Then there will be nowhere to buy (or shoplift) food and booze within walking distance.
  16. I use my own gun at the range. I have purchased 2 boxes and only fired 1 in the past. I didn't argue or protest because this dealer I found was local, has a good rep on this forum, had several boxes or a hard to find caliber for sale, and was 40% cheaper than the range. It kept me from driving to PA. I was simply curious because I thought this was a questionable practice. I appreciate the feedback guys. (Except for the intellectually challenged turd with the snide remarks).
  17. I bought some ammo recently at a shop. They photocopied my FID card and my driver's license. Is this legal? The range I shoot at never asks to see anything but my membership card.
  18. Once there was this guy named Reagan. He was dem earlier in his career then went on to bigger things as a republican.
  19. I'm a member. The facility itself is good. Most of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable...especially the older guys. The range masters are alert, experienced, and very helpful. I feel safe and confident on the range. The classes are great (ask for Bob). Membership is cheaper than Brick Armory. On the downside: The cardboard that you staple the targets to are sometimes so shot up, they're a pain in the ass to use. One or two of the younger guys at the counter need to brush up on their customer service skills and learn how to talk to new shooters and women. Ammo is over-priced even with member discount. I go to GnR.
  20. If you're in Toms River, stop by my house. The asshole that lives behind me was setting them off on Memorial Day. A few of them went over my house and landed in my front yard.
  21. I just bought a Ruger MKIII512. My first gun. I love it! http://www.ruger.com/products/markIIITarget/specSheets/10101.html
