  1. You're only as old as the women you feel. 30? Really? A couple of hundred years ago you were lucky to be that old. Consider the next 50 years on this side of the grass a gift and live them to the fullest without regrets or, for God's sake, whining about getting older. Happy birthday... "Second star to the right and straight on till morning..."
  2. Plus the sheriff etc... Although I'm sure they are fine upstanding gentlemen. Bergen county cops have had am inferiority complex for 30+ years.
  3. Yes they check the runoff there all the time. No biggie.
  4. I'm offended that you're offended by the use of a term that is commonplace in this culture. We have to nurture it. I demand that future voting forms or machines say: Nigga Bit*h Cracker So wes can vote right. I can't believe that bit*h gets censored but cracker doesn't. Oh wait, since a senator used it it must be ok. Man am I pissed off. Walt
  5. I have seen the light. I will now support making English the official language of this country. What!? That is English!? Um..wait...really?...no. IT'S NOT JUST MEXICANS THAT NEED TO ASSIMILATE. Walt
  6. Cherry ridge. 300 yd range. Thursdays and every other Saturday in the afternoon. Join. Not bad for close in. If you zoom in you can see the projectile in flight.
  7. I so sorry for your loss. I love the idea about them all sharing a single soul. Get a puppy. In hugging my boy as I type this.
  8. Well, all these forms and requirements are hurdles put in place by "know nothings" for the sake of nothing. References don't prove a thing. Even background checks don't say anything about future behavior. Not even a full psych profile will do that. But we engage in the activity because it is required of us by our betters to exercise this particular right. Cars kill way more than guns(and the next 2 causes combined) yet at 17 you get a cursory "exam" and road test and off you go. For life. And that's a privilege not a right. I know way more people that I wouldn't give reference for getting or renewing a drivers license than getting an fid hands down. But I digress. Walt
  9. Way short. No real place around here to stretch her legs. Go west young man. But what ever you get, join FCSA immediately. Nice resource great magazine, trust me, we need the members. This bullshit in NJ spotlighted just how almost irrelevant they are. And remember, when you obtain one of these legitimate forms of "recreation" no one will stand up for your rights. Because its not them. YET. .50s were the sacrificial lambs offered for slaughter. Acceptable losses. Walt
  10. Considering the likely uses, I would recommend an AR-50. Straightforward, and accurate. The recoil is not what you would expect due to what I consider the best brake in the business. I was lucky enough to scoop up an "employee" rifle at regular price. If you work there, and you want one, you can follow your rifle and help fit the action, barrel and bolt. The guy who committed to buy it was fired before he could take delivery, at least that's what Armalite told me. I bought it and its accuracy is amazing. At least at short range. (300 yds). She shoots truest with Hornady a-max factory loads. That machine gun surplus crap is just that...crap. If you intend to use "M" ammo get something other than a .50 Hopefully something for which you can afford the ammo. IMHO of course. Unless of course it's XM1022. But that's another discussion altogether. As is hand loading. The press looks like a truck tire bead breaker. But I digress. Also consider the optic and mounts. If you want range-line curb appeal it could cost you several thousand dollars, maybe more than the weapon. But you will,at the very minimum, need a top line first plane Leopold with a proper reticle, so ~2k. No matter what you hear, cheaper scopes will implode quickly under the nasty back and then forward Gs. Walt
  11. My favorite is Crif Dogs on St. Marks in NYC. (Added advantage of PDT through the phone booth) spicy redneck can't be beat. Tater tots too... Not traditional but F'ing awesome. 2. Goffle Grill/Hot Grill 3. Paul's Place(Hewitt)/Falls View(Oakland) Loved Callahan's... too bad, RIP never liked Hiram's though. I always thought that you went to one you never went to the other. Even though it was across the street. Walt
  12. Well there is a ton of canned, dehydrated hope and some freeze dried change there. I think in a sub basement.
  13. It is a classic myth that society will go from today and Walmart, tdbank, 7-11 and strip joints to road warrior overnight. Obviously on the Road Warrior's world, fiat money, and I reckon precious metals, would be worthless. But short of an ELE we would slide into Road Warrior's World(RWW) at a modest rate. It is during that time that we would need the cash. Our government, as flawed as it is, is still the beacon of the world. Should a tipping point occur that could send us spiraling down to RWW there would be months, if not years where those greenbacks would be precious. After that then it's ammo, guns, liquor and smarts. That's actually a good idea for a project. A chart that shows the steps, and name them, from room service at the Four Seasons to fighting your dog for a half eaten squirrel carcass.
  14. I like to keep a couple of weeks of real food for the short term. What you make everyday. For the mid term I like longer lasting staples that we would use anyway just more of it and a easy FIFO rotating system. I bought some used shelves from a closed restaurant for next to nothing that stack cans and dry goods so that you load from back and take from front. Ez-Peezy. I did break down and bought some months supply of the wise food. First I was gifted a container with an small assortment and me and the family tried it one weekend. Not bad. Doesn't look like the picture but not bad. We even boiled water in the fireplace. Having mentioned that, I have to give my most heartfelt advice. The first time you use a prep shouldn't be the first time you use a prep. How many have gensets in boxes? Food that they would have to read the instructions to make? Not opened a first aid kit until you are bleeding. For instance, Quikclot is a wonderful invention but it can make things worse. Ant at GFH is doing a class on just QuikClot alone. Worthwhile if you have it in your kit. I can't stress this enough. Buy two use one in normal times. Expose your family to them as well. As we all learned during Irene and Sandy, fighting multiple fronts, needs vs wants vs attitudes vs comfort is a recipe for disaster. Just my 2¢
  15. Yes ^ I can't believe I forgot to mention that. That's how people die... Even a serious kit with sutures, surgical etc. and the TRAINING. EMT courses are a worthwhile investment. And I'll add to that a proper dog. One that can work with the group. That will be a part of the solution. In short a MWD. I'm partial to GSDs myself.
  16. I agree with you. My preps are for my circumstances where we would stay and fortify our position with the help of my like-minded neighbors. In other locations with lets say, not so like minded neighbors, the plan would be quite different. Population density is a big determining factor. But that's why I moved up here. While we're at it I want to give some props and a recommendation to Frank at Get Out Safe NJ in whippany. Good guy that can help you with reasonable advice and preps.
  17. Gotta tell you , those little Hondas are worth every cent. Mine is going on 10 years old and I use it all the time where you would do without power normally. No hassle, clean and quiet. Expensive but long lasting and one blown piece of electronic equipment and the diff in price goes away. Did I mention they last long?
  18. 100%^ Unless of course local town officials shit it off like in Mantoloking. But if that happens you probably shouldn't be anywhere near there anyway. Boy I wish I had natural gas. I can see the new TennVal gas line going over the ridge by my house. So close yet so far. Ever hear how natives in Africa and the 'stans try to tap into oil etc. pipelines and blow themselves up.? Funny shit. But I digress.
  19. There are No better diesel generators than Onans. I have them at my business. However, Onan vapor sets are pigs. The liquid cooled, QuietSource Generacs bear no resemblance to what Home Depot sells other than the licensed name on the plastic box... Just FYI.
  20. That should be posted in the tinfoil section.
  21. Yea, and the incumbent called Vick after he got back and congratulated him on being a comeback story just like him... Eagles fans should be very proud. Dirty north jersey? Really? Philly the self-loathing capital of the universe? Wow.
