  1. Almeida had his hearing today and was denied. The judge said: Find another job, or hire a security firm, and gun in the hand of a good guy will only escalate the situation and make you more of a target. Probably expected but it shows that even with threats justifiable need is a myth.
  2. You get to carry on duty too because nuke plant security is specifically exempted.
  3. I think as a lame duck, Obama will try to push the most commie, leftist, socialist, anti-gun activist judge he could find. When Republicans block him, he will cry "obstructionism" and the snake Harry Reid will cry crocodile tears. Republicans will be scared about 2016 and backlash from the public and they will cave.
  4. I kind of doubt either will happen. Somehow Obama will pull it off, even if it's by illegal voters.
  5. http://m.nydailynews.com/archives/news/giuliani-pushes-gun-ban-article-1.677098#bmb=1 NEVER AGAIN. Christie has to be crystal clear that gun control is a toxic issue that needs to be left alone, unless it's for expansion of rights like national CCW reciprocity.
  6. Trigger lock requirement and a toy gun ban are two things he signed. He also heavily supported NYC style gun control for the entire country but came back later and said he supports CCW as a right (WTF?). Oh and he had the city sue gun manufacturers.
  7. Without SCOTUS hearing a case absolutely nothing is stopping any state from banning carry other than the electorate. You sound like the guy who doesn't want to go to the doctor because he will give you bad news. Unless you think the makeup of the court will lean more in our favor in the future.
  8. He supported AWB in the past and is on record as dancing around the issue of CCW. I would hope that he does something for us to further his political ambitions. No way in hell is any anti candidate winning the GOP primary. I believe that's a big reason why Giuliani lost. Giuliani is responsible for much of the bad gun control NYC has now.
  9. Well dems keep the money flowing to public employees. Do you vote to give yourself a pay cut? Of course not. My wife was solid dem until Obama won the primary.
  10. Because it's not a 2A case. It's a question of statute. The constitutionality of the statute was never called into question.
  11. By the way, it is illegal for public housing to ban tenants from owning firearms.
  12. They are saying that they admit that it's a straw purchase, but the intent of the law was to stop prohibited persons from acquiring firearms so it doesn't really count because they both were not prohibited person. The best analog of this is the Brian Aitken hollow point case, where it was argued that the NJ hollow point statute was to make the possession of hollow points similar to that of handguns, and that it was a technical mistake not to have language that allowed one to move from house to house with them. The judges didn't buy it and they interpreted the statute as written.
  13. I would tell them "none of your business." They did that to me too but had to give notice. They couldn't just enter at will unless it was an emergency.
  14. Roberts? Roberts joined in the dissent with Scalia and the conservatives. Kennedy was the swing vote and he joined with the liberals on this one. This is NOT an indictment on Kennedy with regards to the 2A. Not in the least.
  15. Except that this is not about the 2nd amendment. This is about a statute.
  16. Decision is in. Abramski lost. Saying you are the actual transferee and then turning around and selling the gun to someone else is going to land you in trouble. So, no Glock blue label for you. http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/13pdf/12-1493_k5g1.pdf
  17. In NY State the county decides what to do. You file a change of address if you're moving out of state. Some may send you a new license with your new address and some may cancel the license at that point. NY City is a completely different situation. It issues premises permits which allow one to keep a handgun in one's home and various "carry" permits. If you have a premises permit you are only authorized to go to target ranges or hunting. If you attempt to take the gun out of state for any other reason and they catch you, they can revoke the permit. Beach v Kelly is the case, where a man with a Nevada CCW was going to Vegas and checked in his gun at JFK. His permit was revoked because he wasn't authorized to travel with his gun. You can ask for specific authorization for specific purposes. If you have an unrestricted carry you can carry it anywhere. Many people just drive out of state with them and they don't get caught that way. Nonresident NYS and NYC licenses exist but they are usually tied to a business.
  18. A ban in your lease is unenforceable anyway. Are they going to break in and search your apartment? That is illegal.
  19. I am going to start voting by mail because we sometimes get stuck in traffic.
  20. My wife works for NYC and is a member of AFSCME but her local is in NYC. She gets a card from the union telling her to vote for specific democrats for candidates in NJ. They organize and orchestrate this nationally. Oddly enough she gets nothing for the primary. She is a registered Republican though.
  21. The thune amendment almost made it reality and it was short just a few votes. If the senate flips GOP in November it could very well happen.
  22. It needs to be attached to some other important bill to pass otherwise forget it. I will be on GFH radio next week talking about this.
  23. Just make sure it's not hollow point. Many .22LR are hollow point. Regular ball ammo or shotgun shells are perfectly OK to possess and transport without any papers or without any exemptions.
  24. Probably waiting for the Friday 5PM weekend news dump. If I see it come through any of my channels you will be the first to know.
