  1. True about the carry but there are almost always severe restrictions. However, one of my favorites is one that says something like only valid when carrying a firearm.
  2. The problem with MD is the cities control the state. We have PG (just outside DC) and Baltimore county which basically have enough people to sway the entire state with votes. I would say a good amount of counties in MD are very pro 2a but they dont really have the power to do anything. The governor, Martin O'Malley, is one of Obama's buddies.
  3. Im currently living and going to school in MD, Oct 1 will be bad. They also have a 100+ day backlog on background checks but luckily they are allowed to do 8th day release with an ND.
  4. My FID took 57 days to come in. I applied mid April and got it June 5th. After 30 days I started going into the police station twice per week asking about it. They were always very nice about it and it seemed like they werent the ones slowing down the process. I have only gone to the PA state game lands and Maryland ranges so far.
  5. They currently have a regulated list which is treated similar to a handgun for purchasing. Come Oct 1 everything regulated will be banned and the mag limit drops to 10. However they can still bring 30rd mags into the state. Ar - banned, HBAR - not banned, AK - banned. Thats a very basic summary of what is happening.
  6. Welcome, I'm from Mahwah too.
  7. I know somebody with an AR with the sides shaved off the lug so it doesnt hold a bayonet. I believe it is legal.
  8. I've been shooting 1946 Mosin ammo all summer.
  9. Also, you can only buy a rifle or shotgun out of state, not a pistol or receiver. A pistol or receiver would have to be sent to an NJ FFL.
  10. I ordered two today and already got the shipping notification too.
  11. Welcome. Check out Ramsey Outdoor in Ramsey. It is their main firearms store. When you go there ask to speak to Jim he is a very nice guy and knows the AR platform he should be able to get you what you want. When I went in there a week ago they had probably 6-7 ARs in stock.
  12. There is one more local gun shop for me to try then I'll get it sent to an NJ FFL. Its too bad this place treated me so poorly, they had 5.56 for less than $0.50 per round.
  13. I went to Wallenpaupack Sport Shop in Hawley, PA today and got the same response. They said NJ called a couple days ago and said not to do it. After he said he wouldnt do it he ignored me and was not a nice person. When I asked specifically who called them they didnt acknowledge me. I am definitely avoiding this place in the future and may post up on pafoa about them. I believe that NJ is purposefully spreading misinformation.
  14. I would expect somebody like who I dealt with to be familiar with NJ laws. Even though they were ignorant of our laws everybody who works there is still probably the nicest people you will meet at a gun shop.
  15. Thats the same thing I got. When I spoke to the FFL holder he said that you dont use a bayonet for hunting so it isnt legal. They are nice people just not informed. They have a sign in the store stating any tactical rifle will only be sold to PA residents. Know of a good quick FFL in north jersey to send a JG T53 to?
  16. I asked them to call NJ and got the run around. I'll see if I can get a hold of my neighbor after work to see if he will do anything. He said the FFl holder just didnt want to do it, it wasnt because of any letter from NJ.
  17. I called them just now and was told the FFL holder doesnt want to take the "risk." The place is Hunter's Gallery in Hamlin, PA
  18. Sorry I was a little confusing. I'll post the FFL name up here once this is over. If what they are saying is true this is NJ's fault and not theirs. Its one in the Lake Wallenpaupack region. The shop has a T53 in stock and I told them I want to buy it. They said since it had a bayonet it was illegal in NJ. I said that only applied to semis and it was a two feature test anyway. They said the paper they got didnt specify the action and that it said just having a bayonet made it illegal. The transfer I'm talking about is possibly seeing if they will send it to an FFL who knows the law and will do the transfer to me. I originally walked into the shop to ask them about receiving a T53 from JG sale and the shop had one in stock so I didnt bother to ask.
  19. I guess PA FFL's are more reasonable than NJ ones. I'll have to see what the two other local ones charge and what this shop will charge to send it.
  20. Yup its either that or spend $15 in gas for me to go to one thats $35. I may call around here in PA to see what the other two local shops will do for the transfer.
  21. Its a $140 T53 so its not worth transferring. They let me clean the bore right there and its dark but sharp, good crown, and not counter bored. I was originally going to buy a $99+$20 shipping+$50 transfer one from JG but its cheaper and I know Im getting a good bore with this one. I walked into the shop to ask what there transfer fee was and they happened to have one. My neighbor works there, he is the NJ law guy, very nice guy but misinformed. I asked to see the letter they got but they said they couldnt find it. They said to call them tomorrow and they will call NJ to see if its legal. When I spoke to the FFL he said he doesnt know NJ laws and when I explained them to him that is when he said he would call if I reminded them.
  22. I spoke to the actual FFL holder and explained it to him. He said he would call NJ tomorrow. So there is still hope.
  23. Thanks I found that and will try to show them. If that doesnt work then I'll write off ever buying anything from there.
  24. Like the title says I need to prove to a PA FFL that a Type 53 Mosin is NJ legal. I found one I want to buy and they wont sell it to me because it has a bayonet. I tried tellign them that it doesnt apply to bolt action rifles and that it is two evil features anyway but they want proof. They said they recently got a letter from the state of NJ saying that bayonets, lugs, and flash hiders aren't NJ legal. They even said a Spingfield 1903a3 is illegal. One of my neighbors works at the shop and that didnt help. Thanks.
