I worked in a county jail down soouth several years back. I was carrying and was in the local walmart not even 5 min away from the jail and had an ex inmate apparently follow me around the store, waited till I was looking into something and grabbed my shoulder and said HA I GOT YO ASS NOW CO (used my name).... he was VERY appologetic and learned a life lesson that day as my pistol was in his stomach and my finger was on the trigger.... turned out it was one of our regulars just a knucklehead who couldnt stay out of trouble... He was messing with me but I do not think he will ever do that again!! My biggest fear isnt een the inmates getting out... Here is the thing... I work in FEDERAL prison... these guys have MAJOR ties to outside people.. MANY of them still run their criminal activity from within the prison! THESE GUYS HAVE CONNECTIONS! I may not recognize their counterparts on the outside... maybe I am paranoid or maybe I am in the right mind set for my career, either way I dont trust my life in the arms of a 911 call and a 10-20 min response... thats for sure!

If all us vets get together it will save them the trouble of tracking us down to ban our rights due to "PTSD".... those records are supposed to be sealed.... what a great idea, target potential PTSD patients.... Its not like they don't have enough reasons within their unit to not go get help....

Two great guesses but my town is smaller than even those! The cops aren't complete Aholes here it was just a "who's junk is bigger" type thing and I was just like are you serious man... you deal with "bad guys" minutes at a time, I am locked in with 350+ of them for hours.... DAILY! I think it is one of those things where he thinks only cops should carry off duty and i am not REALLY a leo...but screw him I have a bigger jurisdiction than he does.... lol

Yea I kind of was looking for some professional courtesy, and my reasoning is the bad guys I deal with I deal with for hours upon hours day in and day out... I may not be a cop but I also don't walk around with a gun at work... When I leave work, I ALWAYS carry no matter what or where I am going!!! I had an incident dealing with magazines so my current pistol is out of commission and this guy is telling me ill be ok and he will have my back was almost a slap in the face.... He continually said crap like UGH YOU CORRECTION GUYs... lol I mean when I say small town, I know this guys wife, went to school with her and his sisters... His boss, the chief, I grew up hanging out with his daughters... The town is tiny a square mile, these guys are NOT that busy!! they DAMN sure aren't too busy with firearms stuff... I just could not believe how much of a Dbag this guy was being on the phone, I expect I added another couple of weeks to my wait... If it takes more than another couple of weeks do I go to the chief? I don't want to make it a big deal I just want to buy my new pistol maybe a rifle and go about my business...

This may be the DUMBEST post I wwill ever make but as I was driving around all over the other day it hit me.... That rumble in the bottom of your stomach... that OH CRAP moment you realize you HAVE to go and will NOT make it home... Most people are only comfortable "GOING" at home or maybe at work under the right circumstance... SO my question to you all over NJ is where is the most cleanest or easiest places to go when you cant go home! My List of places I found: Large- Newer Mcdonalds are genuinely clean and well maintained Walmart (must be a super) but this is hit or miss large restaurants if you can find one(places like Olive Garden that have the bathroom right at the front door are perfect) WORST! avoid gas stations (havent found one that I would sit at) convenient stores (7-11/WAWA) small fast food restaurants Dunkin Donuts

Ok It is no secret that I am looking to buy a new pistol. I assume my permit will be in any day (along with my FID) I talked to the local PD today and the patrolman seemed to waant to get in a pissing match about who's job is better (he is a cop I am a correction officer on the federal level). Needless to say he is taking his sweet time and told me he isn't going to break his back trying to get this done.... (oh yea I am annoyed) so my question is, If I am looking at a pistol on somewhere like Gunbroker, can I buy the pistol, have it shipped to an FFL and have the FFL hold it until my permits come in? It may sound silly but I have missed some really good deals and would really like to get this done. The initial thought is what if my FID/P2P gets denied, however I do not see a reason for it to be, I am a federal LEO, military vet, current national guardsman, 0 criminal background............ Which raises another question, as far as I know this officer is ONLY waiting on talking to my supervisor at work before issueing my stuff (told me I would be OK without a gun for a month or two and not to worry cuz he has my back.....)...What if I was unemployed? Is having a job a requirement to owning a gun now? Sorry for all the dumb questions I am just starting to get fed up with the way my PD is acting especially since I grew up in this small town and everyone knows everyone!

So, i recently purchased two new 10 rd mags for my pistol. Well they got here today and they wont stay in the gun.... i have a taurus pt 101 P. I ordered the mags from midway and they came in taurus packing. The mags say pt 100/ 101... it fits in the mag well but doesnt seat. A simple touch on the base plate and the mag comes out.... i only opened one of the two mags.... any advice? Anything a smith can do? Thanks.

Its been over 5 weeks now, i just got off the phone with the guy "working" on my permits and fid.... this officer tells me he might get to it next week but he isnt " breaking his back" to get this done.... also he is a cop im a federal corrections officer he tells me i really dont need to carry and ill be fine without it a few months....and if anything happens he's "got my back" .... i am not relying on the cops to save me or my family.... but i dont want to make too many waves because the town is super small and everyone knows everyone and i dont need random traffic stops to pick up......grrrrrr

I saw the title and got nervous... i have a pure bred german shepherd. He is a 9 month old 80 pound vicious loud barking lick factory! Its funny he is like am assault weapon he is big loud and scary looking but when properly handled is not a threat to anyone unless they are attempting to do harm to me or my family! Fantastic home defense dog!

My son is 5 and since I conceal carry he sees me putting it on almost daily. He saw me when I was deployed and carrying the duty M16. He is EXTREMELY curious but also very smart. He just wants to be like dad... He doesn't call my gun a gun but a weapon, he knows to never touch it unless it is given to him by me (which has not happened) but I took the mystery out of it. I don't hide my guns from him. He sees them and knows they are not toys (because he is not allowed to have black toy guns). All my stuff is in a safe at all times other than when it is on me ( or ontop the fridge unloaded between outtings) Luckily I live in a military town and 95% of my kids friends are pro 2A even if they do not own a gun. Before my son has a sleep over I meet with the kids parents anyway ( I want to know who is going to be watching my kid and if I don't get good vibes than they can sleep over at my house) I have been asked a couple times if I have guns by these parents and I have no reason to lie (all my NRA stuff, magazines, and the targets in my back seat are a dead give away) and most do not have a problem. Oddly the parents are sometimes more curious than the kids! ( can I see it, can I touch it, can I hold it) This is always followed by an offer to go to the range! Hell, every moment is a moment to teach a kid something new, why not take a oppotune moment and teach someone who may be on the fence a thing or two about guns. All in all if the kids ask I would tell them they are guns for protecting my home, they are not toys and not for children to touch. My son asks all the time when he will be old enough to go to a shooting range with dad.... I got my first gun at 10 with my hunting license so I figure it was good enough for me it is good enough for him!

Not renewing its an initial, i got the change of address to my dl from dmv because my dl doesnt expire for like 2 years

The fid will match the sticker yes

On my DL I have an address, and on the back is the sticker with the corrected change of address from the DMV. The address is literally around the block from the address on the front (not that it matters). Is this an issue? Do I need to go to DMV and get a new lisence? When the PD did my P2P they put my new address because I had the sticker on the back of my DL with it. They keep saying my permits should be ready any day, I just want to have my ducks in a row when they come in. Thanks in advance and sorry for the rookie question.
