  1. Gotcha. There are a lot of dealers who only do transfers, and don't have a large stock in hand. Nothing wrong with that though! Especially if they have connections with suppliers from out of state. That being said, does the sales tax thing matter if it is a dealer from out of state or supplier?? I would guess that it is who you give the money to: if you pay the shipper directly or pay your local dealer.
  2. Maybe we could shorten it to one rule: Avoid handling a firearm in any way that should give people the wrong impression. From rule number one, a reasonable person will consider the following: the direction the muzzle is pointed in the appropriateness of the time during which the firearm is loaded where the trigger finger lies and when.
  3. Nothing new to contribute to this thread... I have a Ruger SR22 which I bought a week and a half ago and hit the range hard. No problems at all except with Remington Thunderbolt and Federal American Eagle 38 gn. CCI Standard velocity 40 gn lead round nose has never let me down, and Remington Golden Bullets work fine. Also, my Dad has a Beretta Neos which was less expensive and a better competition pistol. You can even mount a scope on it or red dot if you like. I will post pictures later comparing the two if you want! Last but not least I have a North American Arms mini with 1 5/8" barrel that shoots .22lr and .22 mag. Also a fun gun but not to the extent of the Neos or SR22.
  4. Sweet collection! Hope you have a blast! -Joe
  5. You're not the first person I've heard that from...from a personal standpoint, they've been nothing but friendly to me. And as for the handgun toting, it is their right to do so...it's their place of business. NJ anti-gun fever getting to you? jkjk Most shooting ranges and gun stores that I know of staff members OC guns regulary. At King's Shooters Supply in KOP, even customers come in strapped without any problems. (Of course, they have more evolved gun laws than we do in NJ)
  6. Cool! I'll have to give it a try sometime. For some reason I thought Bob's was considered SJSC. My bad. What are the guest fees like down there?
  7. The Muzzle brake needs to be welded. The law counts "barrel with the ability to accept a flash hider" as an evil feature. Same goes for your AK. Either you need to weld the muzzle brake on or lose the pistol grip. BTW Did you get grandfathered in to the new Maryland laws? My cousin lives down there and he bought his stuff as soon as he heard about the legislation.
  8. Wow you can't beet that price. He's only making $20/transfer. The past 3 gun purchases I've made have been from out of state, I should have hit him up sooner.
  9. To this day I still get lost driving through your old neighborhood. It's like the lost woods...
  10. Pistols and revolvers mainly, but I just built an AR! Haven't had a chance to go out to the long distance ranges in PA. Where have you been shooting now that Bob's range is in reconstruction?
  11. Chief Glenn Sheetz (don't hold me to that spelling) was my D.A.R.E. police officer in elementary school. I have a picture taken from the Gloucester County Times from when I was 4 years old, and it shows him handing me the prize for the DARE egg hunt in Wenonah. Good times. BTW I haven't had a chance to go yet. I've been reloading recently so ammo purchases are a rarity for me. Do they sell guns too?
  12. He's being honest since there is no such thing as "central jersey".
  13. How's it shoot? I just bought a Ruger SR22 last week.
  14. I take it you'll be a regular at Butch's Gun World!
  15. Hello from below. Sorry to hear about the eminent wait!
  16. I've been an avid reader of NJGF for a while, mainly for legal discussions. It feels reassuring to finally become a member. I hope to learn a lot about gun-friendly people in a gun-unfriendly state. Born in Philly, raised in SJ, I live less than 20 minutes outside the city where I carry frequently using my Utah non-resident permit. Full disclosure, I am an Eagles and Phillies fan, but I get along well with Giants and Mets fans. I got my FID card in November of 2011, and bought my first shotgun within the hour; a Stoeger 2000. Since then, I've picked up three rifles and five handguns. Before getting my FID, I had no idea that collecting, shooting, reloading, and working on guns could be so habit-forming. All things considered, I'm glad I've taken the plunge. -Joe
  17. I use a lee auto-prime and occasionally put the primers in backwards. Would I still be good to use your method of removal with the decapping die? Up to this point, I've just tossed the cases. But I want to avoid waste, keeping safety in mind.
  18. For anyone who were to build an AR-15 from scratch, who thinks he or she might be moving to a free state sometime in the future, it would definitely be easier to replace that "gay" stock with an adjustable one + pistol grip than replacing a welded barrel with a threaded barrel + flash hider. This has been on my mind for a while. Since you'd have in your possession interchangeable parts that could be configured into an "assault weapon", it would be troubling to go to the range with the two rifles simultaneously.
  19. I found my way onto a California-based gun forum recently saying that the FRS-15 rifle stock is cosmetically a good alternative to a pistol grip (debatable since this stock is still pretty funny looking). Since Californians are forbidden from having ANY evil features on a semi-automatic rifle with the ability to accept a detachable magazine, these stocks are becoming a popularity.* Then the FRS-15 started to grow on me. Not in that I like the way it looks, but in the "it doesn't look too shabby" sort. Would any of you NJ AR-15 enthusiasts consider using this so you can have a threaded barrel and flash hider? *The other reason Californians want these is that they can legally use full capacity pre-ban mags in conjunction with featureless AR's. (Hence the long magazine pictured above) http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2012/12/12/frs-15-california-featureless-ar-15-stock/
  20. That's a good idea just in case the FOPA safety net falls through. NJ gun owners should always be prepared to confidently reference NJS 2c, 39-6 exemption laws in case of a police confrontation like yours. And lastly, don't succumb to their intimidation tactics.
  21. Agreed. From what I have read, the courts are dragging their feet with Heller II. One way to accelerate changes to DC's law is if a few gun owners practice civil disobedience and ignore the reregistration requirement. When there are identifiable individuals whose 2nd, 4th, and 5th amendment rights are trampled, it will garner national attention and make Heller II a priority. FYI according to the article, there are 30,000 registered gun owners. Greater than I thought firsthand. Puerto Rico has had similar requirements for a while now, and I have never heard of a lawsuit challenging their constitutionality (or lack their of). It just goes to show that legislators will always get their way. Even if it does get struck down, substantial damage will have been done to the People, who have been effectively dissuaded if not disabled from exercising their RKBA. As the number of armed civilians diminishes, the less people there will be to stand up against incremental disarmament measures known as "gun control".
  22. Lefties might have a problem with this... Do they make 870's with ejection ports on the left side of the receiver? And for that matter, do they make these kits for them? Otherwise, it looks like empty shells will directly cross your line of vision if they don't pummel your face.
