I'd be willing to wager anyone who has ever faced an enemy at 100 yards would beg to differ... I probably shouldn't have even commented, though. I'm not a competition shooter, nor do I have an expensive sniper rifle. I shoot a carbine with a 3 moa red dot quite rapidly @ life-size silhouette targets. As many rounds down range, on target, as quickly as possible while standing or moving. Reloads included. When I take my rifle out, it's basically practice for combat I'll probably never see... But professionals aside, I'd be willing to put money up vs someone out shooting me in a quickfire S/U shootout That's why I like the dirt cheap ammo... When I plow through 1,000 rounds in a single outing, I'm not that concerned with a 2 moa differential or the occasional drifter. But the original poster was probably seeking advice for the exact opposite application... Just sayin'... Being able to hit a head at 100 yards religiously while moving is a better skill to master than hitting a stationary quarter at 300 in a comfy, relaxed position.

I did have issues hitting water bottles at 300 yards... But at the time I was only using a *cheap* 4x mil-dot that was sighted @ 50 and firing from an unsupported standing position, so I honestly don't know if it was the ammo not being good quality or just me being bad. Either way... Just thought I'd say I'm a fan of the cheapest lead available. Unless you're gonna load your own and shoot for money, I don't think brass is worth the arm, leg or first born.

USANA is a quick an easy join on either Saturday or Sunday. Skip, the proprietor, will just give you a 45 minute rundown of the rules, the property and the club and you just sign a paper and go shoot the same day. Longest range they have is 100 yards, tho... so that's a drawback.

Last time I was in Bob's Little Sport Shop in Glassboro they had a few used antique rifles on the rack. Don't remember if any were a Mosin, but I remember seeing at least 3 bolt actions that looked very similar. They also had an Enfield in great condition I woulda purchased if I hadn't already spent $900 on a carbine. Anyway, I'd check them out. At least give em' a call. Great people, great shop.

Well, to be honest... I think that's legit. One should have to pass a *Legitiment* and reasonable psychiatric exam to acquire a CCW License. Cops and public alike. I don't mean an extensive, multi-day evaluation. I mean a simple, short (1-2 hour max) examination to ensure you're in a normal mental state. Now, before everyone jumps on me... Along with that, once I obtain that license I should also be allowed to possess anything and everything a police officer is allowed to posses. If they can own (Or use on duty) a fully automatic m4, I can own a fully automatic m4. If they can have a grenade launcher, I can have a grenade launcher. If they can have a LAV with .50 cal machine guns, grenade launchers and all kinds of "riot control" bells and whistles, so can I. I firmly believe that State and local law enforcement should be on an even keel with the law abiding public... Some of the most heinous atrocities of years past were committed by those who were "Just doing their jobs." and they saw little resistance thanks to their extreme advantage in terms of force. I respect America's boys in blue... Just don't trust em. And seriously... What would you rather have - "Take this psych, and if you're not crazy you can lawfully carry a firearm." -OR- "If you want to carry a firearm, apply at any police station. You've been denied. Because we say so. Bye-bye now." So, yeah... Good for the goose, good for the gander. However, that would require lawmakers with common sense... And if we had those already, we wouldn't need "good for the goose" laws to fix our broken laws, so I'm sure even if my proposal came into mention they would molest it into something opposite. ...Honestly, I just want a tank.

So... If a police officer is caught carrying a firearm, they should have to take a psych exam. Essentially, every police officer in Morristown should be taking a psych exam every time they walk out of the station. I mean, it's crazy to want to protect yourself as you go about your daily business... Yeah, one a those "Good for the goose, good for the gander" type of things.

...Bruh, if you're buying ammo at Dick's, you're spending almost double. www.cheaperthandirt.com & www.ammoseek.com are my best friends. Only thing I buy at Dick's is Rio 12 guage target shells. And I ended up going with the Magpul slimline handguard. $34 at Cabela's. I love it.

Ahh, the only other couple I saw there. I took a guess. Were you wearing a black shirt? I was the dude in the red shirt and camo shorts periodically being made fun of for shooting an 870 and carrying an ammo box because I don't have a shell pouch. You can usually spot me by the large vape cloud. LOL It was probably the best time I've ever had shooting, I stayed there until almost 11. I think I've found my new hobby. I probably won't be able to get there this coming Friday, but I'm definitely making that my new Friday night thing. Best part of the night was the line shooting contest... I don't think I've ever had that much fun with a gun. Think you were over at the trap spot for that, though. Went through 400 shells last night, too... Got a nice bruise on my arm LOL

Hey, I took my hunter's education course at that place and the guy told me they have trap, skeet and 5-stand every Friday night at 5? I believe he said it was open to the public, just wondering if any of you ever shoot there and/or are going tonight, because I was planning to head over and check it out but I don't know anyone there.

Dick's had a Remmington 870 on sale for $299 + $25 mail-in rebate. I ended up haggling a little and got the gun for $274.99 and STILL got the mail-in rebate, so I got an 870 express for $250. All together with 4 boxes of Federal target load I paid $305. I'm happy Thanks for all the input guys!

I was browsing around Dick's a few hours ago and they had a Rem. 870 on sale for $274.99... Ahh, decisions... I like the $199 pricetag (and no tax in dela-tucky ) but I've heard so many good things about 870's... I mean this one is basically a chinese knockoff of the 870. From what I'm told basically any thing that will fit an 870 will fit the H&R minus barrels.

Maybe it's the 100% lack of experience in me, but I'm not sure I'd challenge a bear with a bow and arrow... and I love bear meat. I'm thinking more like a bow & arrow chambered in .458 socom? lol you guys are some brave gents if your chasing bears with a bow.

Eh, I'm not looking for a deal so much as I'm looking for <$200. $100 off a $1900 gun is not exactly a "deal" in my book I'm going to hunt whatever's edible and legal to shoot at.

Just thought I'd throw a post out on here since I don't know anyone who actively hunts. I'm planning to take my *first* hunting trip in the upcoming turkey season and thus far have found nobody to go with. I intend to purchase a nice shotgun by the time the season is here, but if not I'll be rolling with my bow. Anyone have a trip planned would like the company of a newbie?

Just got mine today. Shipping took flippin' FOREVER compared to most things I've ordered Via USPS, but they got here today. I loaded both, each hold a solid 15 with no room for another (unlike a certain magazine with a hexagonal pattern *caugh*) and each lock smoothly fully loaded on closed and open bolt. I like em. Might order 4 more.

For what it's worth... The tip on that punch looks like it has a hell of a shroom on it. I'd try a new punch. If that doesn't work... Acetylene and Oxygen never fail. Just be careful you don't melt the entire block xD
