  1. Yup yours is a beauty to, your collection is getting great. Went looking for the one I saw a long time back and found it. Army still uses them to. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  2. Nice score, some of the contract mausers are just so well made it's amazing the high standards they had. They could never make a rifle like that again for a decent price. I remember someone on another board posting up 1935 Chilean carbine some time ago and I was amazed at the condition and the detail of the rifle. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  3. Nice set, 44's aren't easy to come by. Original bolt knobs? French rifles are very unique, the designs on them are real different and makes them cool. I had a 36, 49/56, and a 1918 barreled lebel cut to an r35. Sold them to focus on my more favorite collecting areas and regret it. Mas 36 is a really fun shooter, and the lebel feed system is just cool imo. You got a nice collection there. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  4. I should have clarified sorry. I very much pay attention to what goes on here in the state. I'm a member of a range that makes you part of the anjrpc so I guess I contribute whatever to them through membership dues. From that I get their news letters and e-mails, and I cruise here and read all the discussions. Been a lurker for awhile before i joined. The keeping to myself part was meant to say I have no ties to anyone in any of these orgs or friends etc to anyone in these orgs. I sometimes find here on the forums that if you are in opposition to the way they are running things SOME of the ones barking back are some how tied to some leadership. I'm just trying to describe where my point of view comes from. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  5. Disclaimer- I'm what you would consider a non participant. I don't go to rallies, I refuse to donate money to the nra or local orgs, etc. I'm a lone collector that keeps to himself as far as the gun community goes. From outside the box looking in I tend to agree with cap. Imo the leadership in this state is stale. It just seems like very little is done and people that reach out even are ignored. If you complain about it you will get barked at. Yes for people like myself to complain about it and have no skin in the game is also a big problem but it's us which imo are the majority of gun owners in the state that you need to fund etc. It's a bad problem that we have and no one has had any great answers for it. The 03 ffl is a funny thing. Not many here think much of it but us in the state that would use a c&r probably own a lot more firearms than the rest. We don't buy one mosin we dive into all the different variants of them which is a lot. Collect mausers ? Lol yoiu get the point. Now we have to pay on 01 a fee every time and up here that going rate is $50 for a single transfer! I feel your pain and frustration capt! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  6. There is only 187 cause what advantage does it give you here? If they honored it there would be thousands. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  7. 1. Application type address change on existing FID card and P2P pistol x2. 2. Police Department where you applied. Verona nj 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD. Det.Tom Connery 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. February 16th - April 20th 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). Regular procedure 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). Had to make an appointment to do a face to face hand over of documents with detective which is not what I'm used to. I had previously just dropped my papers off with the police department records clerk in previous town I lived in. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  8. Not saying you have to. We are all just trying to figure this out. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  9. The way I read it(I could be wrong) is if you have a any mag that is more than 10 via a modded 30 round to 15 or a 15 round mag it becomes illegal after the grace period. It said however your existing mags could be modded to 10. The registering thing I think is for a rifle/gun that uses a mag or internal that's 15 rounds that can't be modded. Then it would need to be registered. So if you have a mag that the bottom is welded or is sealed with epoxy and cant be undone and can't get a legal mag they are giving you the option to get rid of the firearm or register it. 10. I never mentioned lead or terracotta or wood as being "gold standard".Cast iron has been around for over 200 years. Many are still in use that are over 100 years old. My whole argument isn't hard to grasp. Copper ,iron , and steel are not easy replaced and won't be for many years to come. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  11. Kinda , it's more like a Chinese finger trap with a oring. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  12. That's why I use the word generally in my posts. Certain areas require different material but generally copper is still the most reliable. Even when you switch out copper for plastic you run into different set of possible issues. Discussion on wether sharkbites are reliable or not seems to always lead to well I use them and they work. For how long? The fittings have only been around since the early 2000's. I do use and I agree that they do come in handy in situations. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  13. Yes we all have . The point being there is no replacement for the old materials yet. Copper , iron , and steel is still the gold standard. We are talking about what is generally gonna last the longest and they have proven that they do last. Don't be fooled just cause stuff is out on the market place for sale. The only reason stuff like pex is around is it's cheap and easy/fast to install therefore it is popular with homeowners and residential plumbers. It is fact that copper in most cases is still the cleanest , safest ,and most reliable way to distribute water. There are cases all around the world where pex is being removed for water contamination, odor , and manufacturing defects.Back to the sharkbites. Why use something that seals with an oring? Speed. I can't think of any scenario where a sharkbite could be more reliable than a solder joint. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  14. Copper , cast iron , black and galvanized steel has stood the test of time. Shark bites haven't they are to new and I'll wager a nice bet that they won't. But imo neither will propress etc.As I posted before. Their is reason these fittings are not permitted on some building projects, even pro and mega press. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  15. My 2 cents on sharkbites. I'm a pipe fitter by trade. I would think most if not all plumbers would agree with this. Do we use sharkbite fitting? Sure when it makes sense to. Would we ever rough our house in using them? No. If we want something reliable and be confident about the install then no sharkbites. I have seen them fail but I have seen everything else fail to but their is a reason that those types of fittings are not permitted to be used in certain building codes. They are great for homeowners but to think they are on par with a solid joint connection is alittle crazy. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  16. Haha ya I was just checking. Prices on the carbines are HIGH def. I have a similar rifle collection excluding post war target rifles, I'm interested in the p-series but spending 450-650 on a re-sleeved barrel m91 isn't to enticing. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  17. Nice Finnish frogs aren't plentiful, you got a m24rv and a m27rv? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  18. Haha Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  19. Nice, I have seen you have a nice Finnish collection especially bayonets. I have a modest but good Finnish rifle and tunic/equipment collection to. I hear ya on the valmets. I'm an ak guy over ar's so the idea of owning a Finnish ak is very exciting but ya never gonna happen here. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  20. Not sure if that translates in this case "neo nazis" in urkraine are very anti communism, anti atheist, socially conservative .....in their own way of course. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  21. I'm surprised you don't, from your forum activity on a vast of other forums you are a collector of especially Finnish items. The conflict in that area is still very alive and is very interesting to follow. Odd articles pop up time to time showing not much has changed as far as Soviet/Russian ambitions. https://www.google.com/amp/www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/finnish-government-suspects-russia-of-buying-property-to-house-troops-a7392841.html%3famp Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  22. How does this article from 2014 link those far right guys to the Ukroboronprom and the deal with aero? Most if not all of those guys are not in office currenty and the svoboda(freedom) party currently has almost zero influence in the government. Not disagreeing just don't see the link. 23. I'm aware of that, I'm just skeptical of the whole thing. Either they are joining NATO or they are not. The prototype rifle is just a jab at Russia coming from the Ukrainians and i doubt Russia cares. Ukraine doesn't seem like it's in a financial postion to change over there primary platform which is 5.45 &7.62x39 over to 5.56 which is the idea with that rifle without financial help from the u.s. or NATO. Urkraine is probably sitting on massive amounts of Soviet era small arms and ammo why waste it? It's certainly an interesting topic because all this is about land expansion. It's funny not much has changed since ww2. The Soviets loved there "buffer" zones (invasion of the Baltic states , Finland, etc). While the U.s./euro continues its influence expansion closer to the Russian borders it's no coincidence the annexation or Crimea happened. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  24. I don't get it. Urkraine didn't join NATO, that would be an fu to putin. Buying some crap platform rifles from a company that doesn't even make firearms seems really fishy and that u.s. company making the firearms is Ukrainian also. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
