Picking it up today. Permit was approved yesterday. So weird that you don't get a physical copy of the permit, apparently its just "in the system". So 86 days total from start to finish for the 1 handgun permit.

So I contacted the GTPD today, naturally the story is, backlog backlog backlog. Which is fine I guess, I can believe that as the state obviously doesn't dedicate the manpower to processing applications. But was more surprising to me is that they changed the whole process for the handgun permits. Some point between now and last year they went entirely digital. He said I will no longer get a physical copy of the permit, the state police will email a copy of it to me. You also have to pay the $2.00 permit fee ONLINE, no longer is it accepted in person. It's literally a little link that says PAY NOW! on the firearms page of the GTPD website. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit. Filed March 23rd, Still waiting. 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). Yeh all thing's considered, its not as bad as I thought it would be. Certain municipalities in jersey are well known for holding up FID's and permits for months. I had my FID in about 30 days or so, and my pistol permit in about a month and a half. I can live with the NICS taking 3 days or so given the volume. My brother had to wait like 6 months for his FID, granted this was about a decade ago but that's how it was back then in our twp. His NICS checks used to come back in less than 5 minutes but the wait for the permits always took forever.

Obviously that is the part that is registered but when you buy a lower do you have to state what the classification of the gun will be? Pistol, Rifle, or other firearm?

I ordered from LAX Ammo in Cali 2 weeks ago, but they require you send a copy of your DL and FID to actually ship to NJ. No problem there since the price was right but I have never heard of that actually being required. Unless that's a cali thing for them as a dealer.

FINALLY got my hands on a Ruger AR556. Immediately put the magpul hand guard on it. Got a SIG optic coming for it, then I'll have to take some sexy pics. I got my eyes on a Troy next, just gritting my teeth spending more money right now. Can never have too many guns though, am I right?

NICS came back last night, they contacted me this morning for pickup. So went from last Thursday to this Wed. for approval.

Bought a Ruger AR556 last Thursday from Butch's in vineland, still haven't heard anything back yet. He said about 5 days. I am crossing my fingers its sooner.

Not sure how you would go about resolving that. Someone posted a couple advocacy groups a couple posts up that you could maybe contact but with the pandemic going on not sure if thats going to help. Honestly I was surprised because gloucester township always used to give people a hard time. When my brother got his about 10 years ago he had to wait at least 6-7 months and it was a 50 page packet that needed to be filled out fingerprinting was done on site at their convenience. When I went a few years ago to apply I never even bothered to finish the application because of the hassle they would put people through. However our police chief retired last year and we have a new chief running the show over there so they seem to be on point with this stuff.

Yep, just picked it up this morning. They setup a drive through line out front of the municipal building for document pickup. Not accepting cash, only check or money order.

Just got a call from the GTPD that the FID is ready! 1 month to the day exactly from when I did my fingerprinting.

Just ignore him. He's grasping at anything he can to turn this into an argument that he shouldn't have to wear a mask. The fact of the matter is mask's work and they will help to slow the spread of this and get us back to normal. The concern is the democrats. Partisan politics and party line voting are problematic in this country. If its introduced by a dem, all dems will usually fall right in line and vote yes.
